Sony PlayStation 3
Simply put, the PS3 is the most advanced games console ever released. Having Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD) as standard in the console, users will be able to download a variety of content as well as access on-line games and services over the network. It's also equipped with basic input/output ports and supports a broad range of displays, from conventional NTSC/PAL standard TVs to the latest full HD (1080i/1080p) flat panel displays.

Featuring an incredible line up of some of the best games ever seen on a console, PS3 also contains a Blu-ray disc drive, allowing you to experience ultra-high quality, Blu-ray movie playback from the comfort of your living room. The controllers are wireless, and have an in-built six-axis controller. In simple terms, this means that if you move the controller to the left in a game, the game will respond.

In short, PlayStation 3 is certain to turn your gaming world upside down when it's released in March. Trust us, you need to get your hands on one of these. Buying a 4GB PSP from HMV.co.uk is the only way in the UK of reserving yourself a PS3, but hurry, as stock is limited!

Sony 4GB PSP
This is the standard base pack, and features a 4.3-inch, 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD that displays full colour (16.77 million colours) on a 480 x 272 pixel high-resolution screen. The PSP also comes complete with built-in stereo speakers, exterior headphone connector and a range of input/output connectors such as USB 2.0 and 802.11b Wireless LAN, enabling users to connect to the Internet and play online via a Wireless Network. Up to 16 PSP systems in the vicinity can also be connected to each other directly in Ad Hoc Mode, allowing for Wireless head-to-head competition.

More importantly, this version comes with an incredible 4GB memory stick, allowing you to load more content like movies and music to your portable console than ever before! There's also a copy of Media Manager included, allowing you to control your content more easily and efficiently.

Killzone Liberation
Killzone: Liberation stays true to the PlayStation 2 version in atmosphere and all-out action. The player reprises the role of the battle hardened Templar as he attempts to save ISA hostages taken captive by the evil General Metrac and leads the battle to gain the liberation of Southern Vekta.

At specific points players will be able to use a new Tactical Command System to give orders to an AI buddy during frantic firefights. Killzone: Liberation also allows you to drive vehicles including tanks and hovercrafts to help defeat the powerful and intelligent enemy. Players can use the challenge games to sharpen their skills and earn new abilities. Killzone: Liberation takes full advantage of the technical capabilities of the PSP hardware with its multiplayer functionality; two player co-op in campaign mode, (i.e. two players can team up and take on the single player game together) whilst up to six players can compete in ad-hoc mode in six multiplayer maps.

Gangs of London
Depicting the dark criminal underworld in the UK's capital, showing a side to the city you never knew existed, 'Gangs of London' is a game worthy of its 18 age certificate. Presented in stunning graphic-novel style narratives, the Chelsea Flower Show this aint.

Dynamic storylines enable each player to experience their own unique progression in nearly 60 different missions that immerse gamers in an elite criminal underworld in modern day London. Complete with new gameplay modes, Gangs of London provides intense free-roaming gameplay perfectly tailored for a handheld system.

Please note that Games Consoles and related accessories are only available to purchase by UK customers, and can only be sent to your credit card billing address. Please ensure that you select the Express Delivery option when ordering. Please also note that the HMV Student / Graduate discount schemes do not apply to purchases of Games Consoles.

HMV = cheeky ******s telling customers the only way to guarentee a PS3 for launch is by purchasing a PSP 4GB package

the only way of securing yourself a PS3 in the UK for launch!
#2
Good find, but agreed right cheeky!
They handled the delivery of the Wii's so well!! I will buy a PS3 any where except HMV - who cancel your orders without telling
you!! Arses

:whistling: :pirate: :pirate:

cold from me too!

Whats the point of having a PSP & a PS3??? :?
#4
I'm sorry but that is kind of hillarious.
It is amazing what retailers will be able to get up to in the run up to Playstation 3.
It still staggers me that someone who wants what will be the most indemand piece of hardware potentially ever would go to a Music and DVD store to try and get one of these.
Track record wise HMV have been exceptionally poor with the 360 and most recently the Wii in terms of supplying customers with preorders with actual stock but hey ho I guess everyone gets to make their own choice!
#5
How do you vote on something like this??
The poster must know its a Pi$$ Take by HMV so don't want to vote it down but can't vote HMV down!

Anyway cheeky bugg€rs :p
#6
Just shows how companies are trying to take advantage of UK gamers by throwing together expesive bundles just to sell the consoles and it happened recently with the wii from some compaines only offering the wii in expensive bundles hoping gamers will fork out for them
#7
Bargain!!! voted cold im afraid

Apparantly you can use the PSP in PS3 games as one racing game you use the PSP as your rear view mirror but seems a bit pointless as it;s more to look at

Don't know how many games will take advantage of using the PS3 and PSP together

Basically it's just HMV trying to make as much money as possible
#9
£647.99! Nay chance. You can buy an XBOX 360, a Nintendo Wii and tons of games for this or build a very powerful PC for games like I did. I would seriously wait as those in the U.S. who thought of making a quick buck on Ebay, have found that they are losing about $50-$100+ on the retail value. Loads are on store shelves and are not budging. Also being charged about £100 more than the US for the PS3 and possibly the same for a PSP...is there a middle finger emoticon towards Sony?
#10
Unless this is another bright idea by sony to boost psp sales and all other retailers will have to follow suit? I really wouldn't be surprised. ;-)
#11
Terrible deal.Its too much money.
#12
Xbox 360, live subscription, wii + a couple of games and also a DS with about £100 to spare! Why would you do this one?
#13
Until I checked, I thought this was a windup. :giggle:
#14
its a freezing deal
#15
Wonder which company will be the first to thow together a package in excess of £1,000 possibly containing some of the following items. I remember Currys or Dixons doing a similar bundle when the Xbox 360 came out

PS3
High definition TV
PS3 Games
Blue Ray movies

I get a 17% dsicount on anything I buy from HMW (10% NUS and 7% Quidco) so this isn't too bad lol :whistling:
#17
HMV are ridiculous for keeping orders on hold for an absolute age as well. I'm waiting for an xbox gtx steering wheel since the summer, and now the office dvd season 2 as well. Plus they are slow to dispatch even when they do have it in stock.

The PSP can be used to navigate the PS3 menu (on the screen of the PSP) via Wifi. Not fully sure how it works, but it either works as an on-screen remote for the PS3, or sends the video/music on the PS3 for playback on the PSP.

You will also be able to download classic PSone games over the Playstation Network on your PS3, and play them on your PSP (and eventually play on the PS3 too) - if you can be bothered!

Voted cold simply because it's not really worth it.

Can't we have a freezing deal chart as well as the hot deal chart?:?
#21
Is this a F****** windup? Mind my french. I think everyone should stop shopping at HMV and watch their share prices plummet even more! This is a joke!
#22
I nearly posted this earlier today and was going to entitle it "New Website ColdUKDeals.com" featuring this deal!!

I want a PS3, but I dont want a [email protected] PSP gathering dust as I play my shiny PS3!

because you have no sense at all, but a hard-on for sony?

the Ps3 has nothing to justify it's pricetag at the minute. having played on on in america, i was unbelievably disappointed. the 360 looks better, has better games, and the wii is far more original. the PS3 needs something speical to make people buy it, sadly, worldwide sales figues indicate it doesnt have this something yet.

yeah, but you can do that without a PS3 if you bother using the internet at all.

there is no specific advantage to be gained from buying a ps3 and PSP at the same time. frankly, the PSP is a dying format, it has had its arse handed to it several times over by the nintendo DS (a handheld which, last week, outsold the wii, PS3 and 360 *combined* in japan)

the PSP, by comparison, sold about 3 machines. (not accurate, but close enough, i imagine)

psp sales are very sluggish compared to the ds and gangs of london is crap. its a way for them to clear stock at our expense. this should be removed
#30
HMV can kiss my goolies. What a con, I already have a PSP so why is it that if you are a new customer you have more chance of getting a PS3. Also as much as this machine makes me drool with excitement, I am not paying £425 for it without a game. I have 3 points to make here about the PS3:

1. This machine has had problem after problem and delayed many times.
2. Yet again the UK has to pay alot more for it than any other country.
3. Also I pre ordered a original PS2 on the day of release and was one of the lucky few that had a machine that did not overheat. However as with all new products to the market, I am going to wait to see if there are any major glitches and once they have been fixed i will buy one.

:whistling:

And just had a look. Student discounts do not apply with this offer. HMV will be laughing all the way to the bank. Lets hope not :x

I think phoenix mines why buy a PS3 at this price when you can get a Wii and XBOX 360.

To show our frustration at this deal against HMV and NOT the poster lets see if we can get this deal to ABSOLUTE ZERO -273.15 degrees Celsius (0 degrees Kelvin).

I don't bother with NUS, as most places around me offer a discount with a valid matriculation card. If you have an NUS or HMV student card though, you can save the details in your online account, and you'll get the 10% discount online.

From their website:
"To get the discount online you need to enter your HMV Student Card, NUS Extra Card, NUS Associate Card or Student Travel Card (in the ROI) number for 2006/2007 in the 'Personal Details' section of your account."

Did HMV not let loads of people down who pre-ordered the Wii as well?

Can't see this as being a bargain myself. Never been compelled to vote anything cold before, but this deal sent a chill up my spine!!!!!!
#39
LMAO this is brilliant.

SONY last week announced the fall in estimated annual profits on two things:

1) PS3 delay
2) Crap sales and demand for PSP

The irony of this deal gold.

HMV dont allow student discounts on consoles.

Terms and conditions:
The HMV Student Card offer excludes purchases of electronic gift cards, gift vouchers, e-gift vouchers, event tickets, games bundles, games hardware (all formats), all other non-games electronic hardware (e.g. digital music players), digital downloads (except from pre-paid digital subscription cards bought in-store) and excludes postage and packing and gift wrapping where applicable.
