Hobgoblin "traditionally crafted legendary ruby beer" from the Wychwood Brewery.
5.2% ABV.

I'd never tried this before but saw it in B&M last week for 59p a bottle so thought it was worth a punt. I tried it at the weekend and have to say it was very palletable. Needless to say I'll be going back to see if I can pick up some more.
Obviously left over from last Halloween and fairly short-dated at 30/6/2011, which is clearly why it is so cheap.
Works out at about 89p per 500ml, so even cheaper than the Asda £1 rollback offers on some big bottle premium beers.

Fill ya boots - or even better, fill ya bellies !!!!!!

its a very good ale, at 59p i would of got a dozen of them (if store allowed)! shelf life is not a problem, a few weeks over doesn't make any difference at all.

This is a great beer, it's unbeatable at that price - not for lagerboys though, it actually tastes of beer........

locally brewed in Mr Cameron's own constituency

but nevertheless a cracking beer - as are most of the wychwood range

they (used to?) do a very good tour for £6 includes some generous samples

Obviously left over from last Halloween

This isn't just produced for Halloween, fortunately they produce it all year round! One of my favourite beers. 8)

Yeah, the shelf life doesn't really bother me. If I'd known it was so good I would have definitely stocked up, but I didn't want to buy a dozen bottles in case I didn't like it. Chances are there'll be none left next time I go - especially now I've posted the deal here on hotukdeals ... d'oh, should have re-stocked before sharing my find !!!!!! :p

I think this is store specific because I bought some today and it was £1.29 a bottle. Cwmbran.

for a 330ml bottle ?
Presumably it must have a long BB date - even so, seems a lot for a 330ml bottle.

Ahh, I'm wrong. It was a full size one. They didn't have any 330 ones there.

£1.29 for 500ml still seems an OK price - I might be tempted to buy a few if they've sold out of the smaller bottles (which they probably have / soon will). Not quite as good as the Asda £1 rollback beers on offer at the moment but still pretty good for a nice bottle of Ale.

WOW!

I used to love this stuff years ago (When it was 5.6% cask), but the independent brewery got bought buy Marston's and now it just doesn't taste the same.

First thing a big company does is bring in cheaper ingredients from their on suppliers.

Still a nice drink, just not as good as it used to be.

They have Hobgoblin and Goliath in Home Bargains for 99p regularly (500ml bottles) :)

Lovely drop.

great on handpull in a pub (a decent one at least) but i've kinda gone off it on bottle, dunno if that is my tastes or the wychwood sellout. good deal nontheless, i think aldi, lidl and HB sell the 500ml's for around £1.20.

and hobgoblin does do halloween promotions and i think there was some kinda pumpkin edition of the beer last november but that was a different brew, no idea if it was any good.

The range of beers in B&M are truly excellent, much more diverse than boring supermarkets.
