Me too, my favourite beer. Especially the Xmas Dubbel Palm.
Had a source in Northern France (Boulogne) Auchan Hypermarket for a while but they've stopped doing it :x

Leffe is great, but Duvel and Delerium Tremens (the DTs) are my favourites.
#11
Nice! Love Leffe.

Leffe and Hoegaarden were £2 a bottle in sainsburys for the 75cl bottles, no idea if the offer is still running.
#15
leffe is very nice, chimay blue is one of my faves, Kristall Weissbier is also nice

how about the Kwak glass for coachmen: http://www.beermad.org.uk/writings/images/belgianbeers/kwak.jpeg
#16
I want some Leffe 9
#17
As mentioned, Sainsburys were doing the huge corked 750ml bottles for £2.

5 bottles of the Brune on New Years Eve was the ruin of me

It's gone up to 2 for £5 now, although it makes me ill just walking past the stuff now!
#18
gotta love the chimay tripple ;)

Leffe isn't bad though. The leffe 9º is really nice too. Shame they don't do either of these at these prices!!!

Worst tasting liquid ever , I cannot convey how disgusting this stuff is, but I'll give it a go. Imagine drinking out of date 1988 domestos(very bad year), topped off with 3 year old boiled eggs Sautéed in pig puke, this would be a better alternative than Leffe. Now Skol shandy, thats a different matter ........ :whistling:

Simply not a fan

To throw in my opinion - Ayinger weisse is the best!

Not found it by the bottle anywhere, but theres a pub in oxford which has it on tap and its soooooo tasty!

If anyone knows of a stockist, please let me know!
#29
Saw this in my local earlier. Bought all the Leffe they had :-D

All 6 bottles that is lol
#30
Good Deal !

Hoegaarden is not tasty at all, leffe is nice though !
#31
Prefer the brown to the blonde altough Leffe is probably only half a notch above Stella in quality Give me a Duval or Chimay anyday - even Grimbergen!
#32
A very good price for these beers on these shores. But I'd like to mention my local Co-op (central So'ton) has had them at this price ever since it opened about 6 months ago - albeit on less hot 5 for £5 deal - and I doubt it's the only such Co-op to have this.

Many's the time I've popped round the corner for a pint of milk and not had change from a fiver :whistling:

Well Auchan hypermarket in Calais have got it for €4.80............ for 6!!!!!!!!

Dream on

we got loads of this stuff when we were playing in france, as part of our rider, and I found it almost impossible to get drunk from. If your drinking something this strong and not getting drunk, it just aint worth it!
#35
I like Leffe very much and FWIW, Leffe is brewed by InBev, the same company that make Stella Artois, Becks, Hoegaarden and now Budweiser.
#36
I don't think £1 a bottle for these is that hot although they are both good beers. Grimbergen Blond is quality. Palm doesn't have a great deal of flavour compared to the others metioned. Brugs is also nice, very similar to hoegaarden. Hoegaarden Speciale is also nice.

I quite like Grimbergen Blond but it gives me a stonking headache, which is not the norm for Belgian beers. btw Tescos have been selling Kwak for £1.50 for a little while, which is cheap for them.
Leffe is a good introduction to Belgian beers, but it is intended for the mass market, so there are many other smaller brews that well worth seeking out..
Tim Webbs Good Beer Guide to Belgium is a great guide to beers and bars. Also the 210 Originele Cafes guide by Bob Hendrickx, although written in Flemish, is handy for touring because the it will get you your second drink free in most the bars listed.

I never would have believed it, wine and Ale snobs I have heard of. But holy **** this place is full of LAGER snobs - NOT IN MY LIFETIME - NOT ON MY WATCH

WTF

So where is Auchan in Calais then? There is an Auchan in St.Martin, Boulogne. The Cite de l'Europe centre has a Carrefour. and there is a LeClerc in Boulogne.
I know there used to be a Mammouth in Calais but that has gone.

There's some great Northern French (Flanders style double femented) beers that are well worth trying out if you get a chance.
Chti, Jenlain, 3 monts, Grain D'orge to name just a few. It's possible to pick up some types of Chti and Jenlain in UK Supermarkets - mainly the Blondes and Ambrees.
