I dont think the Hoegaarden has been posted before............
They were in my local (Winchmore hill) for £2 each and this is normally national. Now I did not drive to every store to check.

Great price and a superb lager.

The Co-Op also do 5x330ml bottles for a fiver which isn't bad if you're not near a Sainsburys.
#5
Pitty they dont do the stronger leffe in the supermarkets. I quite like Leffe 9 (9%)

Hoegaarden is an aquired taste. Leffe Blonde is much more drinkable.

Great deal - good to see it back on

Been buying the Leffe blonde for £2 for a while now, think it was about £2:14 before that, great deal, better than asdas 2 x 4 330ml for £7, isn't it?
#11
Actually this offer works out at £2.67 per litre where 8 x 330ml @ £7 works out at £2.65 per litre making asda better.... though if you're paying this much for beer I don't think 2p makes much difference :)
#12
Online at least the Asda offer is 4 x 330ml bottles, 2 for £8. Therefore, while the previous poster's figures are correct based on a 2 for £7offer, the Asda deal is actually more expensive.

Not a lager! It's an abbey beer! Heathen!

;)
That said, this is a great price for a great beer.

I have to disagree. Hoegaarden is drinkable, Leffe Blonde tastes like a mix of yeast and milk that's been drained through the seat of a fat man's trousers.

Winchmore Hill you say, will pop in tomorrow. Am off to Belgium next week so will get some on tap, although its bound to be more expensive than this.

Thanks for posting the deal

Its on tap here as well. Several pubs in Edinburgh have it on the pipe.

I really enjoy the Hoegaarden, especially when served cold with a zest of lemon on a hot day... But IMO the best Belgian white beer is the Blanche de Bruges (Brugs Witbier). I dont know if it can be found in the UK though... (yes, I am Belgian!)
#19
I thought that the lemon made the head disappear in seconds (at least that's what a belgian beer sommelier told me) or does that encourage you to drink it more quickly and get onto the next one?

Hoegaarden is a fantastic beer --great deal , just brought 10 bottles on Friday--only have 4 left now :) ..heat added

damn local sainsburys no had any......grr

Online, Sainsburys are now showing the 750ml bottles of Leffe and Hoegaarden as £3.19 each / 2 for £5.

However, they are also showing the packs of 4 x 330ml bottles as 2 for £7 and as pointed out earlier in this thread, this works out as a slightly better deal than £2 for a 750ml bottle.

Real purists drink it without lemon as I believe the acidity of the lemon can somehow affect some components of the beer.... Yet most people would still drink it with lemon (me included) as it adds a very refreshing jist to it!
