*********** NOW POSSIBLY CHEAPER SEE POST 56 **************

Before I explain I know that this wont suit everyone - This is for a family who are on a tight budget but want a foreign holiday.

I posted this about this time last year - Its not quite as cheap as then but still a fab deal.

Fly with Ryanair from Luton (other airports are available at the same price just check) 5th May 2010 to Reus (barcelona)
Fly home on 13th May

Total cost for 2 adults and 2 children = £79.92 (to get this price you will need to take hand luggage only and use the prepay card to pay)

Accomodation - Eurocamp Park Playa Bara (4* park) Staying in a 5 person tent.

8 nights cost £110
I know what you are thinking TENT??? but these are great they have bedrooms with proper beds and a living area. OR if tent really is too much then you can have a mobile home for £11 more per person (£44 in total)

£79.92 + £110 = £189.92 FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY or £47.48 each

There is also a special deal for lone/single parents.

If you check the price inputting only 1 adult - the cost of the tent comes in at £45!!

so that would be £60 for flights plus £45 for the accom making it only £35 each

Whats up with the airport? I was there last year and didn't notice any big problems?

I have been to Eurocamp and had a look at these "tents" They are very nice and have cooking and washing facilitices, all cutlery and crockery etc. Really nice and people said they were enjoying them as its not like camping at all. HeaT.
#10
How safe are those tents for leaving your gear in when you go out?
#11
I'm thinking this is the greatest deal ever until I see the word tent!

Only kidding, very good deal if you don't mind camping.

No security, so you shouldm't leave anything valuable in them i ipods, phones etc must be kept in your handbag / manbag with you.

This is a fantastic deal, shame I'm tied to school holidays :(

Very tempting, my children would love this.
#16
If only OH would get on a plane! Such a bargain
#17
Tempting, if it's with Ryan Air how much will it cost to get a flight that lands near to the destination?
#18
I am only getting £298.00 for 8 nights?
#19
Definately worth paying an extra £44 to go from a tent to proper accomodation for 8 nights.

Really good deal this. I'm tempted.

How far away is Garona airport from the holiday camp?

No flights to Reus from anywhere near to me.

Ive done it before - Its about a 2.5 hour drive

Do you have to take children?
#25
Don't like camping - find it too intense!!

lol

Reus in only about 10 or so miles away from the campsites.Girona is a good 140 miles and you have to get around the outskirts of Barcelona,so a car is a total must. It's OK if you don't have an early flight back or a late flight in . That said if you are late in there is a Holiday Inn express not far from Girona Airport ,which is next to a big shopping mall with plenty of good food choices.

The real draw of Salou in comparison to most spanish resorts in the Port aventura themepark.there are some well priced 7 and 14 day park passes about,

i would agree these are great deals ,however do bear in mind if on a hard budget that shopping and eating in Spain has become far from cheap.

You sound like you are one of the great misinformed. RyanAir in general uses main airports. However, Barcelona is one of the ones which could be considered misleading as it actually flies to Reus and Girona - neither of which are the main airport for Barcelona being about an hour away.

However, in this case it works in your favour as Reus it right next to Salou.

I'd have to travel to Birmingham then. Flights are £5 more PP each way but no flights avilable back on the 13th.

Wow, just looked at the prices for late July - £1,246 for 7 nights!!!
#29
I've been to Reus and cant remember anythign wrong with it.

When you are over the Pyrenees is a bit ruff though!!

This deal is good, if misleading - so many costs missing. Transfers for one!

anything good for a young couple?

Better off flying to Barcelona - about 20 mins to Reus. Gerona aiport is another 1 hour the other side of Barcelona, so around 1hr20mins to Reus

Easyjet fly into Barcelona if that helps

Stayed in an identical tent in Italy last year around May time, using RyanAir fights and a £50 off voucher (thanks SBFC!) it cost us £84 (£69 tent, £15 flights) for a week for 3 of us for flights and accomodation, amazing bargain.

The tents are actually pretty good, there's plenty of room for 4 to sleep, on beds that are pretty good, kind of half way between a campbed and a real bed. No bedding supplied, so you either need to hire it, which is not cheap or take your own.

The cooking facilities were really good; fridge gas hob and grill and loads of utencils, plates, cups, etc. We did find we used the gas bbq most days which is quicker and saves filling the tent with camping smells.

The only drawback I would say is the lack of personal space, especially if it is hot (they had a heatwave when we went!) Our 3 year old loved the camping experience as I think most young kids would, but I would imagine it is not for teenagers.

Am very tempted to do this again this year. Have also stayed in the mobile homes once before, which are probably worth the extra £44.

Thanks SBFC (Feed the Sills and he will score?)

Use the Autoroute, its only 1hr20mins (assuming you mean Gerona Airport)

Anyone know how easy it is to transfer from the Airport to the Campsite ? Or would a car be needed, cos the cheapest is coming up about €140 for me.

what gear? the op says hand luggage only!

this may seem a bargain but not for me, you only get what you pay for.

Person stated earlier that it's only about 10 miles from Reus.

Sorry that doesnt really answer my question though, do they have busses that run to the campsite or proper transfers or would you have to get a cab or walk etc.

Thanks for pointing it out though. Although i had read it.

Walk? :w00t:
You'd have to arrange transfers elsewhere.
Public transport a possibility I suppose, if you know where you're going!
A straightforward taxi ride would make sense without burning a hole in your wallet.
