The Priority Club Rewards scheme is a loyalty scheme for Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and a few other brands. You typically get ~ 1500 points for each stay in a hotel from the Holiday Inn group.

Normally it costs ~ 15000 or more points to get a free overnight stay in a hotel. However, they also have "PointsBreaks" where you can stay for a night for 5000 points. These are only available for a handful of hotels. They changed to a new set earlier today. You can book nights through to December 10th 2012.

There is limited availability for the rooms, so you need to be quick to get the popular dates and hotels.

In the UK, there is the Hotel Indigo in the middle of Newcastle. I have booked a couple of rooms there for the half term week. The bookings are flexible, so I can cancel by 4pm on the day and get a refund of the points. The equivalent flexible room-only rate would be £115 a night.

There are also the Holiday Inn Express hotels in Stevenage, Bedford, Colchester, Crewe and Liverpool (Hoylake). Those will include breakfast.

Elsewhere in Europe, you could stay here:

Finland: Holiday Inn Oulu

France: Holiday Inn Express Strasbourg - Sud

Germany: Hotel Indigo Berlin - Centre Hardenberg Str

Italy:
Crowne Plaza Hotel Caserta
Holiday Inn Salerno - Cava De' Tirreni

Poland: Holiday Inn Bydgoszcz

Portugal: Holiday Inn Express Lisbon - Alfragide

Russia: Crowne Plaza Hotel St. Petersburg Airport

Spain:
Holiday Inn Elche
Intercontinental La Torre Golf Resort Murcia

Turkey: Holiday Inn Express Istanbul - Ora

Ukraine: Holiday Inn Kiev

Nothing new here, been using these deals for at least 5 years. 5000 point hotels change every 3 months or so. I did a month's tour of the mid west US using mostly 5000 point rooms.

The idea isn't new, but the selection of hotels is. If you tried to book yesterday, you would have had a choice of places in Eastern Europe. Today, there is a new batch of hotels, some of which are in the UK. Rooms for the popular hotels on popular dates will dry up pretty quickly.

Heated - good to know they have changed their selection of hotels

Didn't know they did this (5000 points for a room rather than 15000+). Will keep an eye out in future. Is there any way to find out which hotels are on offer, other than picking the hotel you want and hoping?

I use the Firefox Update Scanner plug in http://updatescanner.mozdev.org/en/index.html to keep an eye on changes to this page:

http://www.priorityclub.com/hotels/us/en/global/redeem/pointbreaks/europe

You can get to that page if you log onto the Priority Club site, but you need to click on about 5 different links to get there.

The 5000 point night offers are only on small fraction of their hotels, so they are not worth bothering with if you want to go to a specific location. Personally, I use it for a night or two away with my family. At the start of the offers, there is usually somewhere I don't mind going to.

BTW, you can convert Virgin Atlantic Freeway miles into Priority Club points at a 1:1 exchange rate. These points also count towards getting Gold or Platinum Priority Club status. To do the exchange, you need to phone the Virgin Freeway's customer services.

I've got no connection to either company - I only post here after I've booked the hotels I want ;-)

Thanks for this, had a quick look at it and although there's nothing for me at the moment, it's certainly worth bearing in mind for the future. I was going to mention the virgin flying club as well but forgot. We've used our points to book a holiday inn express in San Francisco at a much reduced rate for next summer. Feel as though I have got something for nothing so well pleased.

When I log in, then it switches to the new list. I can still see the 5000 point reward nights for the Newcastle hotel.

The Hotel Indigo in Newcastle has now been dropped from the list
