Voting hot as in the absence of any comments, can't see why this isn't hot.

1GB usage allowance! wtf? You'd go through that in a couple of days blindfolded with your hands tied behind your back!
#3
Its not as good as virgin's (cable) 2 for £20 deal but if you can only get ADSL then its OK. 1 gb is a joke but thinking about it, if I didn't download lots of Linux ISO files then 1 gb is all I'd need in a month.

why did u bother posting this?

Well if you're lucky enough to be in an o2/Be ADSL LLU area then
pay BT £10.50 (or is it 11.50) pm for line rental with free eve/w'end on 12m contract
plus under £7.50/m for UNLIMITED and VERY responsive 8Mbps o2 ADSL (get an o2 PAYG SIMM and top up £10/qtr for the £5/m saving).
= as cheap as this plus unlimited 8Mbps service!

Its OK for people that have a current BT line. Line rental of £9.99 is less than BT. 1gb limit is poor but for people that only do regular browsing and email its fine.

1GB is a rubbish allowance and wouldn't be sufficient for the majority of internet users.

Six months they messed me about with a bad connection, blamed it all on me when it was them all along.

A company willing to lie to it's customers is one to be avoided IMHO..

Delightfully dynamic terms and conditions I seem to recall when I was afflicted with this dreadful ISP. Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole!
#11
ditto to above comments dreadful company who were forever changing the rules there's plenty I other companies many offering free broadband free laptops etc this is a very poor deal
#12
trouble with an isp deal is that it naturally attracts the people that feel let down. Working in IT, I have three clients supplied by Plusnet, I'm on it at home (have been for 5 yrs or more) and have no hesitation recommending to family and friends. Other packages are available which I believe offer better value. But as far as the company are concerned they are way better than average.

Sorry, I have to agree with most of the comments. I have used plusnet and wouldnt use them again. Plus a 1GB cap is so low - even mobile broadband gives you more!

Pay your BT line rental and use a decent ISP for less and get more!

We don't count anything downloaded between Midnight and 8:00am. 1GB isn't going to satisfy moderate-heavy users but our Option 1 package is more aimed at the light/first time user. We have other packages with higher usage allowances.

I don't think we make a habit of lying to customers to be fair. We did go through a bad patch a year or so ago where our service levels dropped and we had some major service outages, but IMO we're definitely back on form. We've certainly started xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx pulling the awards in again ;)

Plusnet were also the first ISP to introduce throttling! Others may have now followed suit on that, but most havent.

Indeed, we pride ourselves on our traffic management policies. I'm not sure I agree with your second comment though. In my experience the opposite is actually the case, with more and more opting for similar policies due to the way in which xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ISPs are charged for bandwidth.

For anybody interested, details about our traffic management platform can be seen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx here. Expected speeds across our existing product set can be seen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx here.

Anyone who already has ADSL with another provider can also try us for free. If you don't like it and want to move out within the first 90 days then we'll xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx refund your subscription payments.

Rgds,

Bob Pullen.

Plusnet - at the bottom of the barrel for customer service - stone dead cold deal.

In fact, I would go so far as to say I would rather stare at the wall rocking backwards and forwards before I ever gave these thieving little monkeys any money.

As for the previous post - hmm, can you tell us all just how many county court actions you've had filed against Plusnet - I was one of them.

Very constructive sicknote. Regarding your question on county court actions, very, very few that will have come to fruition, if any. - I've certainly never had to deal with any.

I can only assume that you've had a sour experience with us at some point in the past (when we were running through our bad-patch perhaps). If that's the case then I apologise. It would be interesting to know when you actually left PlusNet and whether or not you've had any recent experience of the service?

On the whole, our customer service is definitely *not* bottom of the barrel.

My mum and dad are using plusnet 1GB £9.99 pm service with no complaints.

They dont really do any downloading just email and browsing (though if they want they can d/l outside their allowance after midnight)

No lengthy contract - can cancel at 30 days notice and they get reg speed of 4 - 6 MB

They have had no complaints since they took it out 5 months ago.

I've been with PlusNet for years (first with dialup and now with 8MB (about 5.5 - 6) Broadband. I've never had any problems with them and know of several other people who use them and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I am fully aware that there have been issues in the past, especially when they realised the need to change from a true unlimited service. This tended to upset a lot of people who did a lot of downloading for whatever reason. Personally I think this was a good thing, I don't download loads, typically using 5 or 6 GB of my 8GB allowance each month, so I'd rather there weren't too many people permanently sharing and slowing down my connection. I would also agree with what Bob Pullen has to say regarding the negative comments. I think that there are a lot of people who like to bear a grudge, and unfortunately it can take a long time to rebuild a reputation when it has been knocked. A lot of the comments found on the internet are from people who, I suspect, left PlusNet some time ago, but just like to put the boot in whenever they can. I suspect that the awards that have been won have been based on feedback from actual current users of each isp, so for a current view of how good an isp is, I'd take more value in the views of current users rather than disgruntled ex-users. I accept that people have had problems and were very upset with PlusNet in the past, but that has no indication of how the company is at present. How many people buying a new Skoda would have even considered it 10 years ago?

I don't think that this is a particularly hot deal, I think that 1GB is too little for all but the lightest user, but I'm going to vote hot because I think all the negative comments is a bit unfair.

Also, fair play to Bob Pullen for signing up to comment.
