I think this system might be an older model and possibly end of line. It has lower quality 480TVL cameras but comes with a 1TB Western Digital hard drive to store the footage. I'd guess the cameras would be about £20 each and the hard drive about £40+, so pretty much at cost price of the components.

You really want tvl of 1200 or higher nowadays.... and these can be bought for around £100 / 130

After spending a lot of time researching cctv kits, don't bother unless it's 720p or 1080p since lower resolutions likely won't be easily useable as evidence in court.
(Have a Google, basically the lower the res the higher the % of the screen someone must be for it to be legally recognisable).

If you hunt on eBay you can get a Swann 1080p POE receiver with 1/2TB drive, 8 camera connectors, LAN, etc for £100 rather than £200+.
Full HD camera (NHD810?) for £60-£70 rather than £100+.

I'd go for ip cameras these days, you can get budget 720p onvif compatible ones with respectable picture quality for around £20 from china, although you do have to install their p2p software on a windows pc/virtual machine to initially set them up.

If you only want a couple of cameras you can get ones which take a micro sd card for recording (I've not tried these):-

480tvl, will be interesting watching Super Mario from a 1990's Gameboy roaming round in your back garden because that's as good as it will look I'm afraid.

The resolution of these cameras makes the whole exercise pretty pointless. You need cameras with at least 700tvl as the night vision would be that grainy the police would laugh at you.

My point is don't go cheap on this sort of thing. Its too important
