gotta order one pronto

I've ordered this just now, even though I'm suspicious about how good can three cameras be that cost £65. I guess I'll find out shortly! Only fly in the ointment is the extortionate tenner for delivery, but the low initial price makes up for it. Heat added, thanks.

Don't you have to sign up for there service to use it properly?.

Yeah, spotted that afterwards. Sodding Ebuyer automatically inserted the Next Day Pay Us A Premium option unless you select otherwise and I didn't notice til after I ordered. Just been to their site to attempt to cancel and reorder without Next Day and the Cancel button is greyed out - too late, they already picked it. Still a good deal, but it does take the edge off a bit when you think you got robbed for delivery!

You should be able to cancel it I am pretty sure. If you have no joy, try their customer service line in the morning, they should hopefully be able to sort it before it goes!

Garden has HUGELY powerful PIR lights. And anyway, I actually want to use it to monitor the kids in the playroom and see who really DID start the argument over which movie to watch :whistling:

Think i will be using USB now for my purchase. Went through the ebuyer way and they are looking £12,99 for postage to Northern Ireland :x.

USBnows price for postage to Northern Ireland is £0.00.

Thnx for the link.
#20
LOL at the guys earlier arguing about the free delivery. Hate to say it, but the system isn't all that even at £65. Worth spending more and getting a lot better.
#21
Got one of these about 2 years ago and it's now in a box somewhere.

The UK supplier of this system (myhome247.co.uk) no longer sells this version - it looks like eBuyer have bought all of their old stock.

A few points:

1) This system MAY NOT work with Vista. Motorola aren't planning on releasing any Vista-compatible drivers or software, however www.myhome247.co.uk appear to have Vista software for download, but I haven't tested this so cannot confirm if it is for this model.
2) Cameras with IR LEDs for night use are available.
3) You can monitor remotely for FREE if you have a fast BB connection and go to www.logmein.com and register for their free service.
4) The system requires your PC to be left on.
5) The system will send you an email (FREE) if the cameras are triggered, or an SMS (15p SMS rate).
6) There are no outdoor cameras available for this system unless you buy 3rd party ones - only some of which (some Panasonic ONLY) are compatible and are very expensive (£100+ each)

Is the signal encrypted between the camera and receiver? If not anyone with a receiver can monitor the system:w00t:

Yes - I bought these a while ago and returned the pack (10% handling charge) for that very reason.

Probably a good deal, but I don't think this kit is that good.
#24
This is just about OK for use inside the home, but nothing special, which is only to be expected really for such a low price. From what I can see there's no night vision making it useless at night (though I accept burglars won't know that :)), which means you'd have to pay for this kit & then buy additional cameras for it, & the footage to your pc isn't continuous real-time recording, only clips or stills. Also, you have to keep your computer on for it to work. I've got some other issues with it too, all in all which make it a system I won't be buying.

I want to get a CCTV system, but I'd rather have something that has decent night vision, can be fixed externally, allows you to use a wider range of cameras & gives you either motion-detected or continuous real-time recording that you can burn to dvd using a dedicated dvdr. I'd expect to pay at least £300 for that. To me, this system has more value in being a visible/visual deterrent than in providing actual footage you can use for any real purpose.

:-D Funniest....ever.

be careful what you might find when checking on your cameras.
i made my own wireless security system using much cheaper methods only to login one day and find my ex wife cheating on me.

i kid you not!
#27
Worth noting that there are 32-bit Vista drivers for this out there but there are no 64-bit ones. I bought a system and spent 3 days trying to get it working via virtualisation and ended up having to send it back. Although I did get a full refund from ebuyer!

Can you upload the video? :whistling:

Sorry to hear Withabix, I hope you shaved her hair off in her sleep before you told her you knew!

FYI - Consider the consequesnces of the above before doing it, I threatened an ex if they ever cheated I would do the above, however you can face charges of ABH (still worth it).

I bought this kit whilst I had Windows XP. Worked really well until I upgraded to Vista. Even though myhome247 says that the Vista drivers are now released, I haven't been able to get them working.

So, don't get this if you use Vista!

Not totally true. I had one of these until the base unit gave up the ghost. It will send a pic, or a small video clip via email etc, but, as it does require the pc to be on, you could just use remote control software (like logmein which is free) to the pc and view the live feed that you can use via software.

Wasn't me!

It was 'shutdown' - I was just quoting him!

I have one of these to monitor my home whilst I'm away. I bought a wireless keypad to arm/disarm just inside the front door before you trigger any motion sensors. It works very well and I'm delighted with it. I don't pay any subscription on it, I buy some credits for email to SMS and if someone triggers the sensors I get an instant text, and an email containing an image and there's no ongoing cost.

You do need to have your computer on all the time but I do anyway so it works just fine for me. I believe if someone smashed my front door down, and walked into my living room to grab my telly, I'd have a reasonable chance of the police making it there in time - or at least I would know within 20 seconds - it may fall down from the point of dialling 999!

Yes, registering (and accessing) the camera signal require physical access to both the camera and the wireless receiver.

THe wireless system is 2.4ghz likw WiFi, but the camaeras cannot be made to work with a normal WiFi router - that's why they have their own one.

How? Do you have some special device which imprisons burglars for 2 days until the Police bother to turn up???

Screw this these are ****, I need something that will connect to my network drive and write the movie file to that! So that I don't have to have my power sucking PC on.

Whats the point of just having them inside? You really need them outside so that if you have a nice car you can check on it!

You can get the MOTOROLA HMSM4051 - WIRELESS MOTION SENSOR from PCWorld for only £2.97! Collect in store only (Product code: 583358)
#40
I'd be surprised if you managed to find one of those at any PC World in the country. They discountinued stocking the Motorola accessories a while ago. They are now only available from www.myhome247.co.uk and ebay.

Just to reiterate - you don't need to have a subscription with MH 24/7 to use this product. There are no subscription cost options.
