Asda have some really good offers on fresh fruit and veg at the minute, won't list them all or post separately, but here's the one's they're advertising as the best offers:

Cherries 250g - 97p
Nectarines Punnet - 84p
Baking Potatoes 4 Pack - 87p
Cherry Tomatoes 350g - 86p

I'd already posted the 47p sweetcorn before I saw these other offers. :)

Apparently there's a surplus of these fruit and veg from the suppliers so the big 4 are kindly making out they are cutting prices when in fact they are buying even cheaper than usual but are passing the savings on, although the likes of aldi and lidl have good prices all year round

According to who exactly? A google search says nothing and it makes very little sense. Surpluses happen from time to time, but they are temporary - how could the supermarkets permanently cut the prices if it was a one-off? Particularly nationwide - the surplus would have to be unrealistically enormous.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they care about anything but their bottom line - but the hysteria some people have about big business always out to get you seems to cloud judgement on things like this!

Hot - I like these but I really want the one with orange(ish) flesh.

I think I have it narrowed down to a cantaloupe. Unfortunately the one I was sold was white/green inside.

Maybe they are all reserved for the mixed melon snack packs :(

I'd imagine the small ones are nice and sweet. While I wouldn't be happy paying full price for a tiny one, it's attitudes like this that result in huge piles of fruit and veg that is fine taste-wise, but unsellable as people won't buy it over its look.

It is cantaloupe. It sounds like you picked up a galia melon by mistake. They shouldn't be that hard to find, I get them in asda all the time!
