This is a preorder for the new pikachu controller. Hori are highly rated (compared to the PDP controllers) which are one of the best ways to play smash. The deal gained heat for a similar price (without delivery) when preordering from playasia but this is from Amazon which will be faster and will avoid potential customs charges.

This controller plugs into the wii remote, acting like a classic controller but with the ergonomics of a gamecube controller.

The one main difference between the gamecube controller and this is that the L and R shoulder buttons are digital rather than analogue. Classic controllers don't allow for analogue. They will activate faster but, if gamecube games are released for the Wii U in the future or you are otherwise able to get them to play, things like fludd on Super Mario Sunshine won't work as well. This is because fludd responds to how hard you press.

WHY?!?!?!

Why do I need one? I am going to buy one and it will gather dust on the pile of other controllers that I already do no use!

It plugs into the wii remote rather than the console itself.

Can I play games like Mario kart with this too?just like my classic pro controller

In terms of functionality, this works exactly as your classic controller would. So any game that supports the classic controller will work with this. :)

This is actually Super Hot because the Hori battle Pad is practically sold out everywhere or its £40+ for the Mario and Luigi ones.

Infact I recently paid £43 for a mario one. So pre ordered this. Thank you

I don't own a Wii Classic Controller (because of the layout is more or less the same of PlayStation) so this will be its replacement. I love how cute this Pikachu controller is.

It doesn't have analogue triggers and it connects to the Wiimote than a normal GameCube port but I can use this on any Wii + Wii U game that supports Wii Classic Controller. I'm guessing this might run out before the pre-order's over so it's ideal if anyone wants the Pikachu Hori controller to do it now.

P.S.: In this case it's better not to use Flubit or else the retailer might send you a tacky PDP controller instead (it has happened before with another Hot UK Deals user). :p

You're welcome! It was actually one of your posts in another thread that alerted me to it :). It's a shame that nowhere is in stock at the moment for a sub £25 amount for any of the Hori controllers.

Does anyone know if mario kart 8 supports this controller?

This will be recognised as a Wii Classic Controller, so yes, it will.

I would think Gamer_U was correct. Mario Kart 8 supports every official Wii U controller configuration: http://www.mariowiki.com/Mario_Kart_8#Controls

This particular Pikachu controller plugs into any Wii Remote and acts like a Wii Classic Controller (albeit with the layout of a gamecube pad).

Gavbut please do some research or even read previous comments. It is a wii u classic controller that plugs directly into the wiimote. It just happens to look like a gamecube controller.

So it will work with mario kart 8.

Agreed. I did a fair amount of research into the pros and cons of the controllers. I've updated the deal description to help avoid confusion.

Wrong. Get your facts right.

This is a GameCube controller-styled controller that's recognised as a Wii Classic Controller.

And you're correct, this is a Wii Classic Controller in its essence.

I'd rather use the Wii U Pro Controller but that's just me while the Pikachu controller for other Wii U and Wii games.

Most Nintendo fans are aware that this is a Classic Controller but I guess there's always some that don't know it and assume it requires the adapter.

P.S.: The D-PAD on this GameCube controller is way better than on the original GC controllers so that's a plus on my book and if it's like the Japanese edition then we're going to get Pikachu skins for the Wiimote too. :)

Nope. Hori controllers don't compare to the new official white gc controller. Cold

They say for wii u but they're standard controller's and you need a special adaptor to use on the wii u.

there's a few sellers on amazon selling the legendary Mario controllers for under 35 quid.
