Awesome stick, almost as good as the original Saturn virtua sticks.
#2
I'd like one of these, but couldn't justify spending over £20 on one.
#3
I picked up an equivalent one for my PS3 a couple months back for £25 - and i felt that seemed expensive. This may be the cheapest price available, so for those people who really want one, i guess this is a hot deal - but for regular gamers, this seems far too expensive, especially when it isn't able to play most games. On fighting games, i love these sticks, but unless you play a *lot* of fighting games, it;s hard to justify £40 on a controller to only use on 1 or 2 games.

Also, a general complaint about both the PS3 available arcade sticks and the 360 ones - something like this should be wireless. Just about everything else is these days - so why can't they manage it with these?

These are very high quality sticks. I had a Hori dreamcast one and it was awesome. It seems expensive but they're the best you can get.

Hot

Where did you get the PS3 stick? I wouldn't mind wireless but I think the reason is there might be a slight delay to the input, and timing is everything to hardcore fighting fans.

My mategot one for less than that it was the DOA4 edition on ebay. I now it doesnt count but cheaper is cheaper. He rearly uses it though.

Like anything, people have different degrees of dedication. You might not be willing to spend £2000 on a top of the range Les Paul guitar, but many guitarists are. For anyone serious about fighting games this is the thing to own.

I looked last night and the ebay ones all seemed to be about £50-£60!! (even the completed listings)

I have to agree with some posters above too...

Why not wireless and about £20 seems the right price. (or same as a normal controller at max).

I love SF2 and want the new HD version but I know the 360 controller will annoy the hell out of me and ruin combo's etc!

Cheaper, at £29.99, but currently out of stock.

Yeah, the 4 way D Pad and slippy stick don't make it easy to play fighters. You can get stick covers for a couple of quid on ebay, but the raised bits wear down quick. Still, provides a little extra grip! And until SFII comes out I'll keep plugging away at Soul Calibur 4.
#13
Will this work on my PC too? Play MAME with?

Yeah works fine with standard Microsoft Xbox 360 controller drivers, there are also custom drivers that tweak various things (analog buttons to digital, hat switches, axis etc.).
#15
It's not wireless because Microsoft hasn't released the wireless specification for general usage (Guitar Hero and Rock Band are the exceptions).

#18

Would you care to tell us where we can get this cheaper? I for one would be snapping it up. There's a 1-3 month wait for this deal with Amazon!

http://www.softuk.com/Xbox_360_Product_View.asp?ProdID=36002410130 (free delivery if you go via find-games.co.uk) ... I know it states out of stock ATM, but i think they just get stock in as they sell them. I ordered from them and it was delivered within a week or two - certainly didnt take over a month. You could always order from both softuk and Amazon and cancel whichever is slowest to dispatch.

If you have the money i would go for the Hori Real Arcade Pro.EX but its really rare and expensive (import only), but this a good alternative.

I'll wait for the SFIV one I think. Although has anyone tried arcadeinabox.com? I noticed they had ones where you can use xbox 360 and PS3.

Its not wireless because if you play fighting games to a high level, wireless will mess up your input timing (due to input lag) and could lose you the match. The average gamer would not notice the input lag but for those who play fighting games competitively, it can be game breaker especially in games which require precisely timed inputs. Its the same reason why those player don't take online play seriously due to some lag even on the fastest connections, every millisecond counts to them.

If you are looking for a better controller for fighting games and don't want to spend that much, I would recommend you pick up a hori ex turbo pad, the D-pad is great on it, perfect for fighting games. I don't know how much it goes for at the moment but I got mine in Japan for only a tenner as a reference point.

I have this stick from the Xbox 1 still....

Googling has not produced any results, does anyone know of any sort of adaptor that works so you can utilise Xbox 1 controllers via USB with the 360?
#27
I've had nearly every stick for every console, this one isn't that great. It's just your only choice for the XBOX 360 right now. Out of 5 of us friends who have this stick, mine id the only one that hasn't failed, all of theirs have broken buttons that need to be repaired. We are all heavy users though, so the average n00b or casual gamer, should be ok.

now that is a good idea. doesn't seem anywhere near as expensive an investment when you consider all the fun that could be had with some arcade classics.
#29
the new tourament edition SF4 sticks use the same components as the arcade cabinet. Worth getting and if there as limited as they say they are will be worth a fortune in a few years
#30
I have one of these myself and its very good quality and build but i still prefer the pads so i think i may ebay mine off luckly this thread reminded me i have one :-D
#31
well given this thread has got over 100degrees and the price is only ok - I reckon if anyone can find an instock deal for around £25 they will have a scortcher of a thread! :)

I still want one, but i think I'll kepp my eyes out for a bit longer!

cheers :)
#32
it works on PC, but gamestation used to sell these at 19.99!
#33

my local gamestation has these for £9.99
#34
I vote cold for this because of the waiting time: 1-3 months. Who know the price at other retailers after next 3 months, it could very much possible be 2/3 of this.
#35
well i got mine on ebay about a month ago for £30. Its a great stick, does what it says on the tin. Its hori with sanwa style buttons. When I was at battle of destiny (the UK fighting game tournament) loads of people were using this stick (brought out on other formats).

Any self respecting player would also have a custom made stick ;O) price is no way hot tho sorry. Not giving heat or taking it away.
#36
just noticed they will email you when the EX2 fighting stick comnes into stock:
