Great traditional Christmas gift for kids and kidadults, for the equivalent price of a couple of bluray discs.. Imagine having hours of fun with the kids (or by yourself) with this on Christmas Day!

This is a good 1600 x 1280mm set with points & siding and accessories including a model water pump, 2 model shed buildings and telegraph poles, compared to the Toy Story 3 bare-bones set which is only 1150 mm x 820mm with no points or siding and no accessories other than a track mat.

Reduced from £160.00 to £40.00 on the Empire Stores website but their original price is very, very steep! Next cheapest price is £49.99 including delivery. Current 'delivery by' date is 20th December (as of 16th December). Plus you get an extra 8% off through Quidco so discounted price is £36.80 delivered. Plus you get free returns so this is a bit of a bargain.

You get a lot for your money, there is a good unboxing video of this set on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgYFzpKpMjw .

IMPORTANT - If you don't want to become an Empire Stores account customer, select the down arrow next to 'Select Payment Option' and choose the 'Pay by Credit/Debit Card' option, which is slightly greyed out but will work.

Description:

The Hornby City Industrial train set lets you set your imagination in motion - this is a timeless toy guaranteed to give you hours of fun from the age of 6 to 96.

Set out the track mat and fit together the Hornby 00 gauge track pieces, place your locomotive on to the track, couple up the wagons and attach the controller. Once you had the fun of carefully piecing it all together, then you can enjoy the fruits of your efforts as you watch your miniature railway come to life.

The 0-4-0 locomotive is a simple 4-wheel, 2-axel steam train and comes with a blue 4-wheel coach and 3 wagons - a 7-plank wagon, a lowmac and load and a 12-ton vent van.

The oval track is made up of curves, straights and 1 set of points, plus a power track piece for connecting your train controller and transformer.

Accessories include a model water pump, 2 model shed buildings and much more. The track mat enables you to create a specific layout, that you can add to, or even create your own track layout.

A Hornby City Industrial Train Set is the perfect gift for any budding railway enthusiast.

40 quid is a very good price though, hot from me. A good play value set with more extra bits than the normal christmas cheapie sets.

You're welcome dennissabre, at that price it's a steal. For less than 40 quid (with Quidco) it's about he same price as a Next shirt or a few pairs of designer underpants but let's face it it's a much more fun thing to get on Chrimbo morning! Sorry I mean to give to your child on Christmas morning...

Good deal, Heat added. Also, just in case they sell out, it's on sale at woolworths.co.uk for £40.00 (Not surprising as they're part of the Shop direct group).
