WTF is this? I don't get it.
wildswan
no track
Government policy dictates that track and rolling stock should be kept completely separate, and owned by 2 different organisations, so this is just following suit (_;)

I bet there's a few train spotters who've got the Hornby over this deal.
They like to called Anorack's
Shouldn't that be AnoTRACKS?
Good price for new set

Hornby R1139 Blue Rapier Train Set £49.99 @ hornby

The set is the Railroad version of the Blue Rapier which is atrocious quality. This is not like the normal one Hornby do/did which costed around £150. The Railroad range was meant to be a cheap way to get into Hornby but it has ended up still being too expensive.
In general Hornby's pricing is insane because the trains are massively overpriced considering the cost of manufacture. They are never going to get kids interested at these prices plus there needs to be more new trains like the E320 rather than reissuing Victorian stuff.
true train spotter 320 eh lol :D

Yeah, I know.... it's technically the 374 Class! X)

It's mostly railroad stuff on their sale, which is fine for me as a newbie but would be great to have some of the real McCoy on there.

Is it correct that the railroad models that have fixed X - X - 2 third position pair of wheels are too ready to derail on the tighter OO gauge radii, and hence are limited to larger curves only?
I think its more of a try it out on your layout to see. with larger trains, they are more likely to derail on tighter curves, so larger curves would probably be better.

Will I get a sapphire decoder into the peppercorn do you think?
Probably. I have soldered Hornby's 8-pin decoder into there 0-4-0's, which are tiny!

I think that it'd be fair to say we need a tad more detail please...
Examples of deals, photos, is the stock brand new, damaged, seconds?
Don't really want to make the trip to Margate without the detail.

Sorry I don't have a pic as I didn't have my phone when I went but they had just faded packets and that sort of thing stock varies all the time so I wouldn't go unless you live near by

I'd check the Hornby prices against similar items available at other retailers before getting too excited though, as for example that West Coast Highlander Train Set is only available direct from Hornby, but it's similar to the Devon Flyer set which you can buy for about £60 from a number of places.

The Devon Flyer set is only £68.99 from Hornby direct (regular price). It is quite significantly different from the West Coast Highlander set which has more track, many track side objects/buildings, and an extra truck.

Tempting, always wanted to build my own.
Still got my Hornby stuff from the 80s - just need a bigger house to use it. Hot from me.
Hattons prices are still cheaper when not in sale, the Hornby prices are still over inflated... the best deal I have seen in a long time was from halfords http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hornby-western-spirit-train-set-37-49-halfords-1745241

Hornby in financial trouble. Partly due to their Olympic items not selling in any great numbers!

Hornby were in big trouble a few years back and laid off loads of staff, but made a comeback. They might just do the same again.
they had quite a few at Hamleys a few days before Christmas, for a similar price. might want to look there if you're keen to get one. I was tempted but the colour of the train is just horrible for me, very garish. but that's just my opinion
Nice find. Shame it's only available there.
Have some heat anway !
nice find.

Was £99.99 online before stock ran out. Definitely a good deal if you can find one!

There must of been literally a hundred in Westfield today, just been playing with it, it's a really great runner with nice bright lights too!

Must HAVE been.............. grrrrrrrrr! :(

they're their, they'res no need to get upset over a simple gramma mistake, could of been much more worser ;-)

point taken and noted however :{

Why cold Mr Branson has got an abolute bargain here, how long extra will he be able to keep the franchise, nice little earner.

Branson: "If we continue to run the West Coast Mainline over the next 13 years, I am happy to pledge that 100% of any dividends and royalties Virgin Group and myself take out will continue to fund our investments in clean energy; but as well as that I would use part of this money to invest in British charities."
Hot from me.

Loving your pic !!

Anyway if the Dept of Transport can make such a whopping gaff on a major multi million pound project like this, do you reaaly think the other departments are getting everything else right,,, check your tax bill is my advice !!
Whoops sorry for that bit of vowel play, I guess I meant that they might be even more rare than obsolete.
Heat for the egg on the face lol.

never mind what temp it reaches....if only one person benefits from the deal then it was worth posting

TBH I take that view now on all my deals, I changed after I posted a deal for the good food mag it was a good deal and a bril cheap Christmas gift that kept giving for a year, it total died, but I got a pm from a member who thanked me for the post saying she had got 2 subs for mother in law and friend so after that totally for got about heat
PMs can make a huge difference - I once got one from someone who registered just to send me a pm to thank me for saving his daughter £50 off a tv she was going to buy. That simple pm is worth more than several thousand degrees of anonymous heat....
Can't help but think this lights competition is gonna make voting even more stupid than it already is on here.
People should vote cos they care not because they want to win an xbox.

I'm afraid the prices aren't that great.
Hattons (www.hattons.co.uk ) are cheaper
e.g. Coach 4264A Hornby £22.00 - Hattons £18.00
Wagon 6287E Hornby £14.50 - Hattons £14.00

Hattons also do a flat rate P&P of £4.00 per order regardless of size.
