Oh thank you multi billionaire Sir Richard Branston, how kind of you m'lud.
Bet he donates to charity as well, who the **** does he think he is?
Great find, cheers
Great deal for actual football fans and not plastic armchair ones.
Great to see where the repeated price rises are being spent. I wonder if they'll apply the same thinking to their line rental price.

Shame they've only limited it top Premier League where away tickets are already capped at £30, as away fans in the Championship can easily pay £35-£40.

I think premier league teams have so much money to spend it's a necessity
Many championship teams are strapped for cash, so the money you pay is because of the lack of tv money you get in comparison. Won't be long till championship is more expensive as clubs spend more trying to push onto the premier league whilst bankrupting themselves

Yeah, the lower down the leagues you go the more important the gate money is.

I'm alright though as Huddersfield season tickets are only £199, which would be a bargain for the Premier League or Championship depending on how the rest of the season goes.

Well obviously people with different situations (or even different post codes according to some comments) get different deals, it would be much helpful if you could share how you got your deal. After all there's no point of mentioning it if it's a price only you were able to get.
It is a referral only deal which I have offered to a few people. Rules on HotUKDeals forbid posting requests for or offering off such a deal, but if you know someone who has got the deal they will be able to refer you for the same deal.
The offer is:
TV with 500GB TiVo Box
50Mbps Unlimited broadband
Medium Telephone with weekend calls
Line Rental included
Free Connection/Activation
Free Equipment
12 month contract
£15/month for 12 months
plus £50 credit on account for being referred
I got the same deal.. really can't complain. The paperwork says £29 a month but they then give you £14 a month discount for the 12 months.

Carphonewarehouse just confirmed as long as you are willing to set up a new Virgin Media under a different name you can be treated as a new customer. So cancel current service and sign new contract through carphonewarehouse to get cheaper price, done!

Thanks! - That is useful to know. Although the Carphone Warehouse deal isn't necessarily the cheapest - The £15/month deal I am on (TV, Phone, Line Rental and 50Mbps broadband) I think is unlikely to be beaten.

If you don't mind me asking, how does your deal appear on your bill please as £20.50 is the best deal I have seen reported? I am just wondering how they applied it - was it the £39 deal with then a credit for Line Rental Saver up front?
My full price after 12 months will be £73.50 all it says under promotional offers is 12 months TV and broadband discount as well as full house tv xl 12 month discount. Does say exactly how much each discount is. Just have to remember to renegotiate when I get towards that 12 months!
So your current package price is £73.50, discount shown as £53.50? The reason for asking (beyond trying to get my desk anywhere near that - currently double your price after discounts :() is if the Line Rental Saver has not been applied you yourself could pay that up front and it would take £19 per month off your package price (effectively paying £16.33 per month for line rental - so in your case £17.83 per month effectively 8) ).
Yes quite possibly, don't want to push my luck though :p I keep clicking on the upgrades and offers section on the website out of curiosity but it says there's nothing available for me.
How soon after you put in your order with BT did VM contact you please?
I had come to an agreement but the deal is not showing as agreed on the contract and is higher than others have achieved. I think I will cancel the change and go into cancellation again. It seems placing an order elsewhere gets a better deal overall from reports on various threads on here.
Can't remember exactly, probably a few days, I don't think they take cancellations seriously until they get the request from your new provider asking to change your line over and keep your old number, before that they just call your bluff as they know most people are just trying it on.

VM are tough to deal with - especially compared to sky. (Sky last year gave me 50% off and £150 bill credit)

Best I've managed with VM is:
200mbps broadband
Talk weekends
Line rental
Full house tv + sky cinema hd
= £56

Not as good as most deals on here; but still less than I was paying for 200mbps+line rental saver+sky so can't complain too much

Best i got offered was 21 per month for 70mb and weekend calls. Thats after putting in an order to sky...stupid how everyone gets offered different deals and weve been with virgin for over 15 years!

Phone up and cancel. They call you back within the 30 days cancellation period and bend over backwards for you.

Last year I got my line rental paid - £185 for the year

I called them as my year is up, apparently they don't do that any more ...
The deal I was offered was pitiful.
I said, we'll I'll phone back when my year is up and give my 30 days notice. Lets see if I can get this deal!!

That is not true, unless it has stopped in the past month. I have seen reports on various forums where someone had put I. Their notice and an order elsewhere resulting in an Outbound Retentions call and free line rental offered as part of the deal.

do people still get the terrible tivo these days?? it's a horrid piece of kit. Surely you'd want to negotiate the new v6 box
so I have finally got to speak to someone;
nice guy but couldn't offered anything good enough;
told him that my Tivo is sluggish as hell so he then wanted to train me how to make it faster by clearing cache, interestingly that when he finally accepted my notice he told me to dispose my 2 boxes (Tivo 500 and V+HD) meaning it is so rubbish they even don't want it back...

They don't have the best offers until you cancel. Now wait to see if Outbound Retentions call - it appears putting in an order with BT or others to transfer your number can prompt them to call with the best deals

AVOID VIRGIN
I took out their Vivid so-called 100 Mbps Unlimited Fibre package, recently - speed tests (wired ethernet without any other downloads in background on a virus/spyware-free machine) revealed 20-30 Mbps on a daily basis, in the afternoons and evenings !!
Interestingly I get around 85 Mbps at 3.30 A.M. when nearly the whole country's fast asleep
Virgin are clearly deceiving and cheating their customers ! Avoid at all costs.
or base it on your own experiences...
I'm on 200Mb and it's always around 180, even with 2 teenage kids hammering it gaming

Amazing.
Can't believe they let me leave back in August, refusing to knock a penny off the £32.50/month price for 50Mb broadband. Now they're practically giving it away. I'd have been happy with just the broadband for £25.
Got to suffer a year of BT's crap speeds now.
Oh dear. Told them I was leaving in Black Friday weekend, they rang back the following two week days and dropped my monthly by over 50% for the 200mb, free weekend calls & XL tv bundle. All for £2.50 more than what you paid for your 50mb. Crazy
;) I did

Got the deal for £17, i will speak to their customer care if i can pay the line rental in advance, then it will be even cheaper. Very grateful to your post. Thanks

Could you choose a date for when you want your services activated when ordering online? And if you could update us whether the advance line rental works then that'd be appreciated. :)

Been with VM for over 10 years, only needed an engineer out once, he changed the media box for a TiVo box.
The only grumbles I have are price in increases and retention deals which don't stick. Am currently mid cancellation having been offered a deal with BT that I couldn't refuse.
Up to VM retentions and outbound team to make me a better offer to keep my continued custom..

My intro offer ends on 9th Jan. My partner's just signed up to this new deal in her name with the £50 promo code no problems and the delivery is on 7th Jan.
I'll ring up and give my 30 days notice on 9th Dec, am I right in thinking that if retentions offer me something better than this £18pm deal my partner just signed up for, I can accept that and then she can just cancel her order as it hasn't gone live yet? Or does her cooling off period start from now?
where did you get the £50 promo code from?
i'm in a queue to cancel my contract.
I used VMVBOX50, worked online when entering it on Promo code box

Yeah, saw that posted further up in the replies and it worked for me too when I placed my order on Sunday.

So that will pay for the activation charge and almost 2 months BB cost.

My quickstart self-install kit is being delivered tomorrow.

can't add virgin to the the same house hold for 180 days after canceling
Will it tell you immediately after ordering ?
Well I've just got off the phone from retention team, as the best they could do was £29 pm, cancelled it, then ordered this deal again in my name.
I was just going to apply with a different email address but when registering kinda went auto pilot mode and did it with the existing email address. Ive received all the welcome emails and date of start etc
when you cancel, your service stay active for 30 more days , so when you reordered in with a different name , did you get a delay start date, like after the 30 days??
I gave my 30 days notice, and ordered as a new customer to kick off from 23rd dec, 2 days before my 30 days are up (when you order, they give you dates when you want to receive self setup box)
what did you fill on details page of the order for: is it your current address, residential status and how long you ve been at the address
Yup, everything exactly the same. When you put in your house number/post code it will ask are you new/moved/existing, i selected brand new. Only thing i didn't do which i should have done is use a different email address. Less hassle fir online account.
If you are in the slightest bit worried do it on someone else's name living at the address. I have it on good authority, an employee, who said it works fine if you do your name one year and your partners the next.
Tbf i dont really care and did it on my own again, told the lady at 'customer care' that the loyalty business is BS, and if they decide to give better perks to new customers i will be a new customer every 12 months
thanks again mate.
just placed the order, my contract is ending 26 dec, only option for delivery was 23 or 26 dec, selected 23, placed order . ;)
thanks again
i said well i will leave them and sign back up as a new customer, they told me that you cant rejoin from same house postcode for at least 3 months, so not sure how others are doing this.

Thats only true (to some extent) for the same person. So your telling me if you moved into a new house and the old owner left he wouldnt be allowed BB.

when you cancel, your service stay active for 30 more days , so when you reordered in with a different name , did you get a delay start date, like after the 30 days??
Scratch that, some retentions chap rang me this morning and asked, why have i cancelled.
I told him the deal, that VM don't believe in loyalty, sob story about looking after the pennines etc and he asked who am i moving to, i told him VM but as a new customer.
He told me he could honour new cust deal + apply the 50 discount back to my account + upgrade me to 70 meg an all. So now i got a cracking deal, considering i dont have down time and itll now be faster. Get in 8)
I only have broadband with Virgin, 50MB £33 a month :( have BT phone line, so if i left them, how would retensions contact me.

Depends on contract length, but if your out of contract term cancel it RIGHT NOW.

Thanks
I tried the more direct approach and called Virgin Media. It took FOUR CALLS over the space of about 1 and a half years for them to comprehend my rather simple request to remove my name from their junk mail list. The only reason they had my details at all was because my dad had NTL cable in this flat - and of course Virgin bought NTL and they for some reason thought I'd enjoy being bombarded every single month without fail by offers of no interest to me.
They don't half get uppity when you ask to be "removed from your junk mail list" - one employee exclaiming "junk mail....?" YES!! You know that stuff I never ever asked to be sent, is of no interest to me as I have no intention of signing up with Virgin, and therefore is junk mail. There is not one single company in 12 years of living here that has ever come remotely close to being as big a PEST as Virgin are. The fact that they ignore your request the first few times ensured that even if they had the best offer around, I would never even consider them as a provider for anything.

Drives me mad, when I think, oh good, I've got mail.....oh nope, it's just ANOTHER Virgin letter. They keep changing their envelopes to disguise it too. We've never had any dealings with them in any way, yet we get it and that's with having a 'junk mail block' (obviously, that's not the technical name ;) )

My Husband works for BT so we've never contacted Virgin or NTL - never needed to (certainly never wanted to) doesn't stop them though. Oh and we've lived here for 27.1/2 years so I doubt it was the last people either.

Might try contacting them directly like Elevation did.

Thanks op.
ahh nice find, believe it or not we actually have virgin broadband .... however we get several mailers per week trying to get us to sign up to virgin tv, virgin mobile, virgin broadband, virgin faster broadband blah blah blah oh yeah and a diff mailer about virgin trains and virgin wines,.... their CS is terrible we've had the same IP address for 4 years thats locked to the superhub and when the router first obtained it the previous owner had obviously been a forum troll or something because we were blocked on that ip address before we even used it but virgin wont do anything as the superhub is fully functional and aparently the DDos attacks arn't something theyll deal with.
fantastic done and done. heat.

I've used a code 3 times since seeing this deal. can't believe you can just keep generating new codes to use.

Yep I too have a few good cups of flat white out of it! I know Virgin peddle their wares through the app and no doubt I will bin it once the coffee offer runs out and if they don't keep up with interesting freebies... But it cost me nowt for the app and I get half my coffee bill at Nero paid for by someone else! Hardly worth me getting bad press about!

Enjoy and drink responsibly ha ha!

It's really just to promote their services.
Offers are not great.
But it's a free app. It doesn't really do much other than promote virgin products
There is often a promotion on virgin rail fares on this too. 20% off some fares using code VRed20.
Thank you for this, have installed this and look forward to my free coffee 8)

My contract ends next month.
Gonna be paying £17.99 line rental + £19.99 for 70Mb broadband.
How good the retentions deals are?

I'm on same tariff. Renegotiated in December and I'm getting 50mb bb (upgrading to 70mb soon) for £3.50 for this year + cost of land rental which I paid for in advance @ £164. Spoke with a nice bloke called Bob if it helps in retentions. Initially, he didn't offer me anything to entice me and I kept saying I was moving to Sky so was quite up front they would need to offer me a good deal to keep my custom. After 15 minutes, he offered 50mb for the aforementioned £3.50/month. Hope it helps.
I called up on Friday and took landline plus 50mb rising to 70mb broadband for £25pm for six months, then £28 for the last 6 months of 12 month deal.
My contract ends next month.

did my line rental server on Saturday so saved some money before the increase comes into effect today.
I rang yesterday, renegotiated my contract. Saved approx £170 over the next year with this deal & lowering my package cost, sending me a Tivo box(only ever had basic box) plus free upgrade to next TV package. Well worth a call.

Doesn't work on windows phones, very disappointed
Great app as it turns your none sim standard iPad into a phone - I tend to use it for longer work type calls as quality on the speaker is pretty good
used the smart call service while in Mexico earlier this year no problem save a fortune in calls
Used this very successfully last year when on holiday in Mauritius - overheard my Dad whisper to my Mum " This call must be costing her a fortune!". :3
Thanx. As my wife and I have promised ourselves at least 3 foreign holidays, inc. short breaks, per year this will come in very handy for calling those friends and family members who don't use viber, whatsapp or skype.

Please dont put your insensitive views on here about these free calls. It is the least our bloated businesses can do. I have families and friends in Nepal and spent over £100 in first two days after the earthquake. I cant put it in words how important those calls were for me, my families and friends.
Shame I am with BT who have not responded in similar ways. Instead published their huge profits for them and thier greedy shareholders recently. Their charge was around £2 per minute to nepal. If BT had done the right thing I would have been able to add this to the donation I made to charities during amazing work in this devastating situation.
So please do be sensitive when you put your views forward here as there are a lot of nepalese people in this part of the world who are grieving for their loved ones at the moment and some of whom probably will never be able to speak to their dear ones.
You joined in Feb 2009 and have zero "like" in your profile on this forum. Who are you to preach sensitivity. Folks here like anything free and hot deals here, just like any free calls, they are commenting on public relations exploitation, not the fact it is free. They can make it free for Jordan, Rwanda, Philippines , Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea etcetera free if they are genuine to help sufferers around the globe. Even better if they include free calls for tsunami, disease, Ebola, etcetera if they are sincere.

This seems a very cynical marketing ploy. How many people would really take advantage of this?

Even if one person did then it's beneficial no? No pleasing some ppl.

Exactly. Do something, others criticize. Do nothing, they complain over nothing being done. I bet these free calls will truly be helpful to those with friends and family in Nepal right now.

They really are useful, very much, appreciated indeed.

A turnip of a 'deal'. Plus you can get a 1GB standard deal for £12 at Mobiles.co.uk on a 30-day rolling contract and 1200 minutes as a non-VM customer. Same price as with the £5 VM customer discount (just not 'unlimited' minutes - who needs more than 1200 mins?). An uppity Customer Service rep jabbered on at me saying I was wrong even though I was just sayin'. Deary me. Sticking with GiffGaff? Yes, sir.

No idea why people voted this hot on the basis of 1 person getting it

Technically anybody can get this as Virgin Mobile do nothing to actually check that you're an existing Virgin customer.

virginn media logoBig Savings On Phone and Internet Packages With Virgin Media

As the name suggests, Virgin Media is closely related (but not owned by) Richard Branson’s Virgin Group. It was founded in the 1980s as Telewest, then became NTL and finally struck a partnership with Virgin to use their brand. Although their origins lay in fibre optic phone cables, Virgin now offer a huge variety of telecommunications services, including mobile coverage, cable television and super-fast broadband. By 2016, they had amassed over 4 million broadband customers and phone users.

Where to Buy Virgin Media Products

Customers can either visit their local Virgin Media store or shop online to purchase the company’s products. If you’d like to shop in person, the easiest way to locate your local branch is by using the company’s store locator tool. When you enter your postcode, the site will display a map of your nearest outlets and it should be easy to find a route to reach them.

The other alternative is to shop online at the Virgin Media store at www.virginmedia.com, where customers can buy all of the firm’s products, often with big discounts.

Product Categories On Offer At Virginmedia.com

Shoppers at virginmedia.com can choose from the following major product categories:

  • Broadband – Includes business, home and mobile broadband packages, with the VIVIV movie streaming service and ultrafast broadband via DOCSIS cables. Extras available online include, Powerline wi-fi hubs, the HomeWorks toolkit and the opportunity to run Gadget Healthchecks on your personal networks.
  • TV – Virgin TV is a comprehensive cable TV service that provides access to popular channels like Sky One and Sky Sports, all of the main movie channels, news and many more besides. Customers can choose between TV and phone or pure TV packages as well as between TiVo and V HD boxes.
  • Phone – Virgin offers a huge range of phone packages at different price points, featuring a variety of unlimited call features. There are also special phone options for businesses, options to link your TV and smartphone (TV on the go) and Wifi Buddy, which allows you to connect to more than 2000 wi-fi hotspots across the UK.
  • Mobile – Includes pay monthly and pay as you go phones, with a range of tariffs for each. Also includes iPhones, SIM only phones and upgrade options for existing Virgin Mobile customers.
  • Entertain Me – Streaming movies, music and TV services as well as sporting events.
  • Big Bundles – Virgin offers combo-bundles that reach across its major product categories. Bundles could feature mobile contracts and Netflix membership combined, and superfast broadband, streaming movies and mobile contracts all in one package. The most comprehensive bundles also include as many as 230 TV channels.

Brands Available From Virgin Media

Some of the entertainment brands associated with Virgin Media include:

Making a Purchase From Virginmedia.com

Purchasing items from the Virgin Media store should be easy, and the steps you need to take before completing a purchase vary depending on what you are buying. For example, to buy a phone or broadband package you’ll need to choose a tariff and any add-ons that you require. After that, the checkout process is the same as usual, and all users need to register with Virgin Media before they can finish.

Virgin Media’s Refer a Friend

Although Virgin Media don’t run a card-based loyalty scheme, they do offer discounts to customers who refer friends to Virgin services. If you successfully refer a contact, both you and your friend can slash £50 off your Virgin bill.

Membership of the Virgin Media community also provides services such as order tracking, managing contracts and access to the company’s online forums, which can come in handy if you have any technical issues.

Sales at Virginmedia.com

Virgin are always offering discounts for their services and upgrades. These offers are generally only available to registered users, and there is a special Upgrades and offers section on the website for existing users that lists their current deals. Check it out after you’ve signed up to see if anything interests you.

Also, look out for seasonal deals on mobile and internet tariffs at Christmas time and over the New Year.  Don’t forget to check out the Virgin Media HotUKDeals listings around Black Friday, as the company is sure to offer plenty of promotional discounts.

Payment Methods Accepted by Virgin Media

Customers purchasing items online from Virgin Media can use the following payment methods: Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Maestro, MasterCard and Delta. The site uses Verified by Visa and Secured by MasterCard to protect all transactions against online fraud.

When you order phones, TV and broadband packages online, you won’t generally pay anything upfront. Instead, Virgin Media will usually set up a Direct Debit to cover your monthly charges.

When you order online, you can also choose to pay in store or by phone (on 0800 064 3847).

Delivery and Installation Options from Virgin Media

Whenever you start a broadband, TV or mobile package with Virgin media, you will need to specify an installation date. You can either have the kit dropped off and install it yourself (Quickstart) or arrange for a Virgin technician to visit you at home to set up the service.

If this date isn’t convenient and you would like to reschedule, just call 0345 4541111. Alternatively, sign into your Virgin Media Account and go to the “Track orders” tab. Now click on “Reschedule”, select a new date and press “Submit” when you have finished.

Order tracking is also available to Virgin Media customers. Virgin use Yodel to deliver their boxes and phones. To track an order, head to the Yodel site and enter your Order Confirmation Number.

Remember that technicians can arrive any time within their 5 hour slot. Between Monday and Saturday, these slots are 8am -1pm and 1pm-6pm.

Cancelling Virgin Media Services

To cancel a contract with Virgin Media, customers need to call the company to discuss their options on 0345 4541111 or 150 (from Virgin Mobile phones).

When you choose to cancel with Virgin, the company requires that all customers send their Virgin kit back to them and they have taken steps to make this as easy as possible. Remember, the equipment you use for broadband and TV is leased, not owned by the user.

When Virgin are informed of a cancellation, they will send through a pre-paid postal returns pack.

Put the equipment in the pack, attach the label and drop it off at a nearby collect+ depot. You can find a list of collect+ depots here.
