Awesome films. I wish they hadn't started Mesrine the way they did though.....tut.

Like son, unlike father...check out 'La Ceremonie', from the same year, and co-starring Vincent Cassel's father Jean-Pierre, (in stark contrast to his sons role) in Ceremonie he depicts a wealthy country gentleman whose dumb model wife hires the wrong maid. Very Chabrolesque.

I'm going to look at ceiling hooks for my bike storage problems but have purchased one of these as well...to actually use as a work stand! Seems to get the thumbs up from most reviewers and that was when it was priced more than it currently is on offer for. Camel confirms the price is right.

I found this link to a YouTube review buried in the Amazon reviews, its pretty in depth and again suggests a good buy. Thought it may help some make their mind up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4nPmFnMUqI

Bought something like these before & they were rubbish (I am not sure if they are the same, but I think they are). The uprights came in 2 sections, 'joined' by plastic bits, the adjustable shelves were the only thing supposedly keeping the uprights upright & the specs were completely wrong (I think both the size & weight limit quoted was actually for all the shelves, not one). The ones that arrived for me were 18cm deep & 45cm wide, not 45 x 90 (i.e. 18'' x 7'' not 36'' x 18'').

The eBay seller offered me £10 compensation to take down the negative rating, but I declined - had someone else been honest & left similar feedback it would have saved me much more than £10 of backache collecting them, trying to assemble & then returning.

The rubber mallet will be very useful - to smash them up after you give up assembling them if they are as bad as what I was sent.

Found my last email to them:
Thank you for the offer (even if it does seem a little weighted towards removing the feedback). I am sorry to say that I was tempted to accept (for financial reasons), but glad to say that I have decided to decline the offer. That may seem strange, but I am glad to be able to retain my principles - had someone else left genuine feedback on this item, it would have saved me far more than £10. Having had the hassle of picking up the shelving, wasting some more time trying to assemble it, yet more time disassembling/repacking, having to store it & then prepare it to send back, coupled with the fact that it has cost me the interest on a sizeable sum for one month, let alone the stress of wondering if/when the refund would come (your feedback suggests that refunds are not always prompt), I would say that £10 is a small price to pay to try to help some other poor sod avoid suffering similarly.

How about you correct the description of the item (remove "heavy duty", "quick & easy to assemble", "65Kg per shelf",
etc.) & I will reconsider?

If you would like to see why I am making a stand on this, search for boltless shelving on Amazon & read the reviews - there is one from 10th June, which exactly matches my thoughts & makes me angry that people are still mis-selling this item over a month later. I do suspect that the item is a normal variant, not the heavy duty variety.

Gary Oldman is great in this, the rest of the film is ok but generally overrated. The directors cut is at best described as "dark" but realistically it is disturbing that fans of the version are ok with the relationship of the two main characters.
As for the relationship, nothing sexual takes place at all. If it had, then yes it would have been disturbing. Also although the two are of course physically different, mentally and emotionally they are not too far apart. She's a little older than her years, while he, despite his 'profession', is very innocent.

For me that's a key aspect of the film: despite her young age, Mathilda is in some ways more mature than the older, ruthlessly efficient hitman. The cut version loses much of that element.

One of my all time favourites. Do like a person seeking revenge for wrongdoing and this is the ultimate the acting is superb. The crush scene does make me cringe these days but nothing happens as others say. Always recommend it to those that haven't seen it.

Upgrade to 7 mate you'll give yourself less headaches than XP does!
Why on earth would I want to do that??? I've been running XP on all of my machines for years and it's rock solid and uses minimal resources. I didn't reboot one of my machines for >18 months - only stopped working because the ageing HDD died! Why on earth would I want to go through the headache of learning all the new quirks (read: problems) of a later version of Windows, especially when it will take up more disk space and use up more RAM? What exactly can later versions of Windows do on my hardware that XP can't?
I assume you're not using online - XP has security issues you can drive a train though now and, due to the enduring popularity of XP, they are being exploited. What it can't do, in answer to your question, is security updates.

I do use XP online. I have one machine (my main one) on which I only go to reputable sites, and of the 3 browsers installed on it, I use one of them only for activity requiring high security (eg online banking). I think that approach adequately minimises risks. Obviously I also employ a firewall and anti-virus software and have both on the highest settings. I then have a couple of other machines on which I do any other online activity and am not so paranoid about security on them. From time to time I do a fresh install of the O/S on all machines for performance and security purposes.

The lack of security updates for XP is not a feature of the O/S, it is a decision by Microsoft (not a big fan). Perhaps if you're an idiot you do indeed need to keep applying all the new security updates that are released. I am not going to move to the bloatware that is any other version of Windows since they do not offer any new features that I require yet would use up considerably more of the limited hardware resources of my macines and make them perform significantly worse - and I would be expected to pay for such a privilege! If Microsoft expect me to upgrade, they should make their O/Ses MORE efficient, not less. I have no intention of paying for (or even using for free) a worse product. I was always of the opinion that that was the sane and rational stance to adopt. If I do make a move it will undoubtedly be to one or more Linux distros.

Shonk,
You seem to know your stuff when it comes to SSDs. I've bought one of these Integrals for my 7 year old laptop running XP Pro x32 SP3 (3GB RAM). I have done some research on optimising XP when installed on an SSD and have done the following:
- disabled the page file
- disabled updating of last access time for files
- disabled prefetch cache
- disabled Indexing Service on the drive
- disbaled defragmentation
- disabled automatic layout reconfiguration
I think that's everything. I'm currently in the process of trying to find a TRIM utility as this function is not supported natively by XP. Is there anything else I should do? Also, SSDs have a limited number of read/write cycles, so if I have several partitions on the drive is it the case that one partition might eventually "die", but I would be able to continue using the other ones?
Thanks very much,
3g
I havnt run XP for a fair few years
I cant remember if XP has prefetch (if it does make sure its disabled)
If and when you exhaust the r/rw numbers on the drive usually ssd's go into read only mode
until powerdown then brick theyr selves
I take a ghost image every few months of the os and store it on my nas
Use SSD Tool 0.95 and manually trim your drive about once a month
OK, thanks. Yes, have disabled prefetch and will take a look at SSD Tool 0.95.
Could I just clarify something? When you say "If and when you exhaust the r/rw numbers on the drive usually ssd's go into read only mode until powerdown then brick theyr selves", does that mean that if I were to, say, put 2 partitions on my SSD and only use 1 of them, once I had exhausted the r/w numbers for that partition the whole drive would be useless (ie I couldn't then switch to using the 2nd partition)? And is there any way of monitoring the r/w numbers so you know how close you are to SSD death?
Cheers,
3g
OK, thanks, I think I understand. Any thoughts on a utility to monitor the read/write level? Is it reported as part of SMART?

Looks like the tv manufacturers have forgotten that 4k content here in the UK is only available via streaming or expensive bluray which most people I know may only watch occasionally with main viewing being terrestrial television. Until the broadcasters catch up 4k is pretty pointless and seeing as sky have an 'interest' in freeview then we are never going to get any more HD channels let alone UHD channels because sky will want you to view via their premium service so football players can have their lifestyle that only you or I dream about. Am really glad I ditched sky. Paid for my new tv, BT Youview box, Amazon fire tv box, laptop and tablet with still money left over and only been without it for 2 years.

You have to look to at least the CX800 model from 2015 or the DX models for a decent Panasonic. These are cheaply made junk unfortunately.
The 55" CX800 model is around £1000 and a completely different quality of TV, so comparing it is pretty pointless.
But this TV isn't HDR compatible, which is half the reason to upgrade to 4k.
The more I read about 4k the fewer reasons I can see for getting one at all. Unless your sat 1.5 meters away from it, or its about 80" you can't tell the difference apparently.
I'm not even bothering with 4k - I'm after a 55"-65" 1080p set.

the passer of that info should of gone to spec savers because even on NON wide colour gamut screens the difference is huge.
isnt SD to 1080p but its very noticable.

but the HDR look alot better than the standard 4k too.
good news for samsung owners though they claim they are upgrading everyones set via fw to HDR.

Samsung tvs are being fw upgraded to HDR? where on earth did you read that utter horse ****?

I had a 55" 4k TV and everyone who came round could tell the difference between it and my 720p Samsung Plasma.
On SD input (which is the huge majority of viewing) the pictrue was Shocking on the 4k.
Abysmal. upscaling SD input to 4k is a joke on anything but the most expensive sets. So I took it back
Ended up with a 55" 1080p and i don't miss the glorious 2k edited upscaled to 4k sources one bit.
I've enough 1080p to be getting on with for now thanks,
Until 1080p is the default for standard viewing and 4k OLED and HDR come down in price, I couldn't be happier :)
So you may be impressed by 4k and even 1080p input, but SD will look shocking.
Puzzled by that - I'm currently watching SD on a 4K Panasonic TX55CX680B and it's just fine. HD's better, obviously, but I'd say that the SD picture's much the same as the Panny plasma it replaced.

This was a simple test at 9ft pretty much a normal viewing distance, 48 of 49 people could tell the difference between 4K and 1080p.
So mosr people could tell some difference, then you need to show them an oled screen non 4k v 4k screen v uhd hdr and see which picture they prefer.
Then compare the pictures on sd, hd and 4k then see which they prefer.

No I don't think I will bother.

This is based on 22nm nand
each die shrink it gets worse 19nm lower, 15nm even lower etc.
this is why samsung jumped back up to 40nm for 3d nand

SLC, Single Level Cell
Generally 100000 write erase cycles
Erase time: 1-2.5ms

MLC, Multilevel Cell

Around 3000 write erase cycles
Erase time: 2.5-3.5ms

TLC, Triple Level Cell

Around 1000 write erase cycles
Erase time: 4-5ms

Thats not to say this is a bad drive its far better than the sandisk ultra II
everyone is raving on about due to the misleading benchmark figures it gives out due to the
tiny bit of nand in slc mode thats used to cache write out to the tlc nand
but ofc the sandisk is writing all data to nand twice just to mislead idiots
with misleading benchmarks figures

but i try to avoid any non samsung TLC

I'm not upto speed with the techy side of SSD's. So I did a spot of googling to see why poster Shonk is so unhappy.
Relevant quote from the link below.
The drawbacks to using TLC flash are performance, reliability, and longevity.
TLC flash will deliver less performance than SLC flash and MLC flash because each time a cell is read its voltage level, or state, must be checked. A TLC flash cell has eight different voltage levels, so it will take longer to read each cell's voltage level.

Top Notch Controller = Great
128 MB ram = great for a 120gb card
Toshiba Nand = Fine

Not happy in the slightest its TLC they state that its MLC on the website

Still a super drive for the price, just a shame about the TLC

Be aware these are going to be Chinese imports that are not CE marked or tested. So their could be dangerously high lead content in them ( or other nasties).
Its actually illegal to sell them in Europe ( i am surprised it never got picked up on when they featured on "The Apprentice" ).
Trading Standards have been very slowly clamping down on people selling these and other Chinese helium balloons ( there are loads of illegal unlicensed and non-CE marked balloons on Ebay ). There is a reason they are so cheap ! !
As more shops become aware , they are refusing to inflate these for you.
most chinese stuff is dangerous. electronics are topped-up full of nasties. most chinese factories have horrendous working hours 7 days a week and their employees have no rights. most factories have anti-suicide nets installed around taller buidlings. they simply expoit their workers and discart them when they get ill and poisoned. a weird capitalist financial system in a communist country and a police state which prevents existence of any employee union or decent human rights.
for the sake of those poor people i believe we should stop buying chinese tat.
The western world thrives from the exploitation of poorer nations. Unless we decide to completely change the way we live and lower our living standards to balance the scales, nothing is going to change. Far easier to feign ignorance.

It's a sad reflection on our society when people invent things like this - and a truly worrying one when people pay money for them! oO
How is this at all sad? It's a funny, creative, cute little balloon that I imagine appeals to both kids and adults (in a slightly more p!ss take way...).
Lighten up, life's good!
Actually this is very sad. The world's helium supply is in shortage and at serious risk of being depleted completly. While I appreciate these things are 'a bit of fun', helium is also used for all sorts of medical and scientific applications, including MRI scans. So, with that in mind, do you really think we should be wasting our limited helium supply on crap like this? Maybe next time your kid falls off a climbing frame, bangs his head and urgently needs an MRI, and can't have one because we wasted all the helium on walking sausage dogs, you can answer that question then ;)

microwave them to solve world hunger: helium hot dogs!
moral dilema solved. neeeeext !
ssc1
+ cost of helium.
poppoppop
The helium used for balloons (technically it's balloon gas not helium) is low quality helium, usually captured in the decanting process. It wouldn't be any use in MRI machines. It's a myth that balloons are 'stealing the world's helium supply' when in reality if it wasn't used for balloons in would just be let off into the atmosphere.

Bought this over the vax sale posted few months ago. the 6 years warranty got me interested in buying this.

This is Rubbish. If you want to get a work out using at the same time then go for it.
Yes it is powerful and cleans well and thats about it. you can argue that is what a vacuum cleaner is suppose to do, but its is not friendly to use. bulky head, heavy and hard to maneuver around obstacles (chairs table legs etc) I wish i never bothered and stuck to henry again.

Have to agree, got this in the last VAX sale and the wife wont use it :(

got mine for 100 direct from Vax. powered head failed, but they sent a new one out all I had to pay was courier. 6 years warranty is awesome so I'm sure if I get a few different ones of same model, then it's pretty much paid for itself. Awesome customer service, dealt with one knob, but second person in their call centre went above and beyond to sort it.

can't believe they can catch /grow so much moles and make that journal so cheaply.
I bet they use like at least 3-4 moles per journal as the skin on them are really tiny, so you get about 10 moles probably for the set of 3. Bargain!

Nah they get the moles free from NHS surgeries...

this is the set. series 4 and 5 were garbage anyway. not a patch on the first 3 imo.
I still haven't watched all of Hotel yet but it's a lot better than Freakshow. I stopped watching Freakshow after about 3 episodes.
1st season the best - 2nd the worst - 3rd Good - 4th Second worst - 5th 2nd best

For me it's a little bit different. I find the settings around the 1950's to be boring in these show's.

1st, 3rd,5th,2nd and 4th.

Think Id rather pay the extra couple of quid for a brand new copy.

So many people out there love Star Wars and they're the people that will play this game. I've used about one hour of my 10 hour EA Access trial and it just feels like an EA multiplayer shooter but with the music and graphics licenced from the film franchise (which is what I think appeals so much to the fans of this game).
I'm not saying it's rubbish because all games are subjective. The problem is, Star Wars fans are so heavily into all of the films, the game could have been the best game of all time and still it would not meet their extremely high expectations..
