Blu-ray was always going to have slower growth than DVD. Don't forget that DVD was the fastest growing consumer product of the last century, faster than VHS, CD, mobile phones, colour TV etc. ! Blu-ray is tied to HD so it's limited by the fact that HD is also a new technology and 100% of people with HDTV won't have a BD player either. HDTV has come a long way and as it makes inroads Blu-ray will follow. It was only a few years ago that you could find Blu-rays for £25 in HMV. DVD will be cheaper than the BD version for the forseeable future, if not until they stop making them
Since the majority of people seem to think 1080p is a waste of an upgrade, i hardly see 4320p being mainstream in any near time, the market would only really benefit very large projector set ups anyways. Blu-ray, as you say is in it's sixth year stage, (and 4 years since it wiped out HDDVD), and has yet to capture anywhere near the market DVD had by that time.

I'm a bluray/hd convert but they need to be alot more aggresive on BLU DISC sales because these £9/£15 differences is still retarded. Also what's with releasing Breaking Bad on DVD and not Blu :o

Great isn't it, the Blu Ray format is only a few years old and already there are cheap begains as they are feeling the threat from online movie streaming. Technology moves so fast.

I can't see anyone who is serious about film switching to steaming any time soon. The quality of digital downloads is **** poor compared to bluray and the prices don't make it a viable option for anyone intelligent.

PSN store wanting 15 quid for a ''HD'' download that's heavily compressed with no HD audio or extras, or I could buy the blu for the same price or less? Box office prices are higher than renting the physical disc form Blockbuster and online streamers are months behind on the majority of releases.

I hope the physical media stays as I can't see myself paying for the sub par downloads.
Spot on. Tried watching Drive on Netflix the other night and the quality was awful.

Simply consider the fact that the bitrate of video on a Blu-Ray is around 48mb/s (including audio and video). There is no way most people's internet could stream that - most of us are on ADSL, which is usually 'up to' 20mb/s, meaning more like 15-18mb/s even in a fast area. Not to mention that, unless you're on a (rare these days) unlimited package, you'll use up your monthly usage allowance halfway through the movie. The bitrate of Netflix content is between 2600 kb/s and 3800 kb/s, depending on title, but it may stream at a lower bitrate to match your connection.

Admittedly, it's a bit unfair to compare bitrates as they use different codecs, and the codec Netflix certainly gives good results considering it's for streaming - it keeps artefacting to a minimum, but the resolution never seems that high, the edges of everything always look a bit rough to me, and movement can be a bit iffy. Even considering that Blu-Ray's MPEG codec is less efficient, the fact that it has 20 times the bitrate more than makes up for that and ensures it can deliver a much higher picture quality.

Short version - until the next generation of internet comes along, giving us speeds of at least 5 times what we have now, true online HD streaming is still a long way off. (And by the time it arrives we'll have 4/5k home video!)
The £7 ones are also part of 2 for £12
the local asda here (coleraine- NI) also had a sci fi section selling blu rays for £7.00 each
Mainly the alien series and a few others

Lovely butter. Got to vote hot. Its anti inflammatory so good for my asthma, unlike marge which is pro-inflammatory.
Please elaborate....I thought I was being good to myself by allowing only a monthly dollop of anchor? I would love to be proved wrong.

Butter is good for you (unless you are severly allergic to dairy protein (there are traces remaining in butter) in which case use ghee instead.

Excess poly-unsaturates (omega-6 in particular, found in vegetable+seed oils) are precursor to pro-inflammatory hormones and can be very bad for you in general.

If you are interested in why animal fats are VERY good (and anti-inflammatory hormone precursors) please look into paleo/primal/ancestral health... this way of lifestyle basically saved my live (cured all my illnesses, IBS, anxiety, adrenal fatigue) and helped me drop approx 100 lbs (over 7stone) whilst packing on muscle (still working on it).

omega 6 is fine, so long as it is balanced with omega 3. grass fed dairy produce is balanced.

margarines and spreads are quite awful due to the highly processed nature.

No need to fillet, stuff it with some sage, cherry tomatoes and butter then just cook in the oven until nice and crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside

Morrisons were doing this the other week so I had one but after heading and tailing the fish and removing the spine there wasn't much fish left so I was a bit disappointed.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago and was same price..

Lots of bones in this fish, more bones than flesh, I said I wouldn't bother buying again!

All these terrible fish jokes are giving me a haddock.....
Sea bream has plenty of flavour unlike say Cod. I wouldn't say it was fishy, it's in my opinion quite close to sea bass, not quite as sweet.

Large bones around a centre spine make it easy it fillet and eat.

My brother came to stop at mine for a few weeks after he sold his gaff. He's 8yrs older than me but can't cook for toffee. Anyway he went to do his shopping. Came back with some pot noodles, sweets, chocolates, biscuits n all that stuff.

I had one the other week. First time in maybe 10yrs. They were lush ha! So when i went to Asda, bought a few and also bought the Asda own brand as well. They use the same cup's and taste pretty much the same. I'd be surprised if they aren't made by the same company.

Another brothers is an area manager for Aldi and he swears the Aldi own brand Jaffa cakes are made by the same company as the originals.

But hey ho, Noodles are great!

Cheap at this price, heeeeeat.

The 8520 is fine, at this price its a steal, but you would need wifi coz the GPRS is rubbish for web, EDGE is passable. Combine it with a Sim only BBM enabled tarrif and your fine but given that you need BBM to be enabled then you may as well look at a cheapo contract as they are about.
Giffgaff is £13pm but I pay £10 with Virgin, and got my daughter hers for £7.50pm.

Hi Im after a BB for my son for christmas £7.50 is a grt price. Plse can you tell me which provider ?? thanks

Try this wine about 6 weeks ago even at £3. I WOULD not drink it.

At £3 a bottle I guess it is a hot deal but I have to agree with this comment. All a matter of taste but my taste said if I put that anywhere near my lips he's going to kick my ****ing head in.

I'm not one to spend 10-20-30 pound on a bottle of wine - there really is no need. However, standards people - it's not just to get the kids p***ed.

some people like it, that OK with you?

That's Fine - I said "my taste" but you just jump in two-footed without reading :) I'm sure your £3 red will set well with your bag of cheesy wotsits.

any idea where I can get one of these plz
Anyone know where these are still in stock in the south?
Great little camera, video quaility is top notch, just a few minor downsides:

- Water can get trapped in the microphone easily and stop it from working until it airs out for 5-10 minutes
- The casing seems to discolour quite badly over time, slowly going a orangey colour.
- Hardly any response when switching on can cause some confusion.
None in Bromsgrove or Worcester, gutted there's none local :(

these are rank - straight route to being fat

Not true.
I thought that before checking, they are a good portion of protein.

So? They contain tons of sugar.

Slightly more sugar than a mars-bar in fact. Worth remembering however that plain old milk is responsible for half that sugar.

Mars bars aren't known for maintaining good health, or producing good physiques.

That's very true, and it'd be a good thing to say if anyone came here suggesting such a thing.

I went back to the store and they have the stickers on the front but the barcode has had a white sticker put over it, i wonder if they peal off .
march
Wonder if they scanned that stuck-on barcode on the front? Perhaps that's the source of the error.

They did scan the barcode on the front. Just checked and the one on the front matches the receipt as you would expect but the one on the side is different. The lable stuck on front with barcode does have the correct description though. They have probably picked up the mistake by now but if not the price might still be £99 in store if the scan the front barcode.

If it's scanned on the side, full price comes up, if they scan the barcode on the front of the box (the white humax sticker) it comes up @ £99.
Dam, had them check one today but came up at 229 odd, not too sure what she scanned, i didn't remember seeing the issue with two different barcodes when i saw this thread the other day.

This deal is still available, just bought one an hour ago. The trick is, as previously mentioned, find one on the shelves that has the manufacturer sticker/barcode still on it and not blanked off/removed and make sure the item is scanned with that. Comes up at £99 no problems.

Hot, price is great whether I can get it at my local or not. Surely the hot and cold buttons are there so that people know whether it's a good deal or not.

Not for selfish "oh it's hot if I can get it!", "it's cold because I can't get it!". Community spirit people!

Since 1999, the firm has been part of the Walmart Group and has diversified from its base in food retailing, becoming a major player in the everyday fashion sector thanks to its affordable George brand.
