Over on lastminute.com they have nights in the Alton Towers Hotel from just £10 a night, not including breakfast. The weekends seem to be about £40 but thats still per room and an awesome deal!

I have booked next Friday, Saturday and entry to the spa (£19 each) for a total of £90 in a family room. On the Alton Towers website it would have cost £310

Surely the best deal ever?

Well the Park is closed during the winter so if you are planning a packed fun day on some rides forget it lol.....

But good deal if you just want to stay in a nice hotel...btw is this easy to get to by public transport?
#2
Just checked the taxi price from Derby to Alton Towers and the quoted me £37 each way. That price was with a local Derby taxi company.

01332 331331

Hope this helps in some way.

Possibly not the best reached by Public transport, 25 miles approx from Derby. Alton Towers is set in the rural village of Alton which is pretty rural to say the least. A taxi would possibly cost in the region of £30 each

Stoke on Trent looks nearer on the map.

No not trying to get my post count up,, For some reason it added my original post about 5 times which I later deleted. I then decided to call the local taxi company to assist one of the earlier posters..

Just trying to help (lol)

Glad I could help :):)

The nearest station is Uttoxeter.....maybe the Hotel has a free shuttle? Taxi shouldnt be too expensive but don't expect public transport this time of year. Car would be better as it's in a lovely rural location with lots of quaint villages to go an explore.

If you want to use the spa, you have to phone and book. The waterpark is the other on-site hotel and you probably have to pay for it, but you may be able to blag it if you are staying the night at the other hotel.

Have fun!

Just to back this up, according to the Alton Towers website the park is now closed until 17/03/07. Still a good deal for the hotel though :).

On the Alton Towers website it says that water park entry is £8 each for hotel guests but I think you will need to ring and prebook for that price. I have just booked for a Friday night £10 great deal thanks.

The link isn't working for me, does it look like the offer is over?

Just to confirm I have rang the Alton Towers reservation line ( I rang the hotel 01538 703344 and asked to be transferred to reservations because I dont do 0870 phone numbers they are a con). Have booked the Waterpark entry it was £8 per person if prebooked. A bit more if you leave it til you get there. They then give you a reservation number for your booking.

The link seems to take you to the Alton towers hotel website. Just go to lastminute.com and search for it under hotels. Or if you want a few pence to cover the credit card charge go through quidco.

Bit unfair comparisson....them guys probably paid £300+ and therefore you have a certain expectancy..but for £10 it wouldnt bother me what the staff were like as long as i had a clean room...you couldnt get a sh*thole B&B in the dump they call Blackpool for that!!!!

I would have booked a room..but the missus is working all weekends now till Xmas!!!

That is a bit offensive to Blackpool, I come from Preston near Blackpool and Blackpool is a really great place.

Exactly, well put spenspuma, for a tenner, cannot complain at all

we went on this deal last night ! it is amazing ! paid £9.99 for a 4 bed room ! kids disco until 11 pm and entertaining just to look around !
booked 4 rooms for fri 1st dec to go back with friends and cant wait !
the people in the next room to us paid £280 for the same deal
and remember if you are session ticket holders everything is 20% off inc drinks food and the spa and the water park ( which is well worth the money)
the spa has late offers for the day posted all over the hotel and can save you a fortune - all treatments and aqua rooms were half price friday so it may be worth the wait and save even more money.

What's a session ticket holder?

Booked 4th/5th December, fantastic offer

I find many people have high expectations when staying at hotels, despite paying peanuts!

Quick question for forum members who have already stayed:-

How much is the breakfast for adults and children (2 and 4 years).
#30
You can go to the Alton Towers website and download food and drinks menus from the various pages about the hotel bars/restaurants.
#31
I don't think the reviewer on trip advisor is saying it is not worth a tenner.By the sounds of it they more likely paid about £280 for the room and are basing their review on that cost. Not to bothered about this myself, but this has to be a great deal for some, especially for those with young families. For a family of 4,£2.50 each in a 4* themed hotel with disco entertainment is unbeatable value, better than the great deal at the moment for the £15 travelodges.
Thanks for this timbo.rep and heat given.
By the way welcome to HUKD ultrak3wl and kklown who posted earlier in the thread.:)

Well I couldn't resist my own post so here's my own mini-review when I also decided to stay on Friday and Saturday night:

Checkin - Polite and helpful staff, though wanted to see the print out!
Room - Lovely, large and, most of all, clean!! Kids will LOVE the TV and remote, find out for yourself why ;)
Freebies - Plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits, big bottle of original source shampoo and funky imperial leather shower gel
Spa - Went later on (5pm) and was lovely, relaxing and quiet. I think it was worth the £18.50 each, so long as you make use of it. Get supplied with towel, slippers and robe.
Breakfast - Buffet £8.50 for adults so decided to avoid it and have a lovely lunch in one of the local villages instead
Other staff - Bit grumpy but generally polite
Bar - Poor for couples but great for familes. Expensive at £3.10 for good pint

Overall - I wouldn't have paid £270, but I would have been delighted if it I had paid even £60+ a night

bit annoyed really booked up for this weekend coming and then seen the post on the naturist thing , does it mention this on their website as l was gonna take my little 1 swimming as the missus went to pamper herself in the spa , surely this is not right either using a public swimming pool for a naturist event , or is it just me do you think that they will change dates and hold my price ?
#35
Correct me if I'm wrong but fairly sure it isn't a public swimming pool (edit: by public I mean council owned). Never knew places like this would have naturist weekends!

I saw it mentioned somewhere on their website but probably not in the order process. I'm sure if you get in touch and say that there was no warning that it was a naturist weekend they'll sort something out for you.
#36
Ive booked this weekend too!!!! whoops!!...but having said that, i had a look on the naturist website and it says that they have there own hotel reserved just for them (hopefully!!) and that spa and swimming pools are NOT for naturism!! ie- i dont think well be seeing 200 naked people walking round the swimming pool/restaurants and spa.
#37
spens l spoke too alton towers and they confirmed , we were not allowed to use the pools this wekend as it has been booked out to the nudists , l personally think thats wrong so will be looking for them to date change me , l've searched their website and ca'nt find anything saying about this !:x

"The resort includes the Cariba Creek Waterpark, and restaurants and bars. We will have the entire hotel to ourselves and nudity will be permitted throughout."

Quoted from Naturist site. I wouldn't bother packing your speedos

right spoke to alton towers again and they have told me it is lastminute.com problem , but my argument is that alton towers should have ammended their website to let people know about the pool being closed all day sat and sun , the customer rp told me they had a gay event their a few weeks back and never had to close the pool but as the nudists might offend people they had to close it this weekend !
