Odd they should give anything away, they don't want new customers do they as orange has finished???
Ssh don't tell them.
They still have promos running which should have ended ages ago.

In Orange, are there packs/add-ons we can use this credit for or is it only calls/texts?
raj75 is right. Does not show up with normal credit.

Just called Orange customer care, they have no information about such a deal they told...........!!!:|
Scarpage
On Android (Jelly Bean and above) phones, Settings > Data usage > menu (three vertical dots in the top-right corner) > Restrict background data.

That takes care of Google Now and Google Play Services and Google data syncing and whatever else guzzles its way through your monthly data allowance.

I've been on 500 MB a month for over a year now. The only time I broke about 150 MB a month was when I tethered using my phone in the absence of home broadband for a day or two.

I'm happy for my phone to sync everything . . . when I'm on wi-fi at home or work or friends' or family's homes. Not when I'm out and about, and it's a fair bet that whatever's guzzling mobile data is also going to guzzle battery.

(I also use Xposed Framework with Wakelock Terminator to prevent Network Location Service from guzzling down battery by sheer dint of trying to get location, and I get excellent battery life.)

Can't see that setting on my S4 although since May my highest monthly usage was 16mb!! I very rarely use mobile data as on wifi at home and when in town we have loads of wifi hotspots. Also for those of you who are constantly checking twitter, facebook and emails at work......shouldn't you be working !!!

Have had my Pac code a week now so gave them a last chance call before I use it.......they told me that there was nothing they could offer anywhere close to this deal.So good deal if you can get.....I've got a Virgin unlimited calls and text with 1gb of data for £8.....so off to give them my Pac code.

that virgin deal is showing as £12 a month for me on their site... how do u get it for 8? thanks

SIM Only
Essential SIM Only £12 Pay Monthly contract
( Unlimited calls to Virgin Mobile numbers , 1200 minutes , Unlimited texts , Unlimited texts to Virgin Mobile numbers and 1GB Mobile Web
A month ago I asked Orange to give me best offer - I was on SIMO 30 days contract for last 5 years at £20 per month getting 600mins and unlimited text but no data (basic nokia phone that lasts a week on a single battery charge). As I was using an average of 30 mins a month I thought I've greatly overpaid for services I was getting for probably last 4 years if not more. Orange has made a little fortune so I foolishly thought they would be very interested to keep me as a customer.
I was offered nothing significantly more than what they advertised on the web (I was after about around 300 mins and 1GB of data on a 30 day deal for about £10). Good riddance though if Orange cannot do it - I asked for PAC, waited nearly 3 weeks, no contact made by the retention team... I eventually chose Tesco Mobile as O2 network has a decent covereage where I live/work, the SIMO price is better than any non-virtuals and I really like the fact you can cap the bill.

On orange?, you choose when buying it a plan I just went for racoon plan, just normal payasyougo itll stay on phone ages as long as you make a call/txt every 3 months. If you do dolphin it will only last a month even if you dont use any mins/txts.
Are you sure - you seem confident, but I thought 6 months was almost universal these days? If Dolphin is 1 month validity, that is shocking (even for Orange).

Bit unfair to edit the deal to half the deal after some have voted hot - should have spammed it & started a new thread. I for one would not vote hot.

Bit unfair to moan about the deal when you hardly post any deals yourself - should have posted a deal yourself in a new thread. Does the site work with folk posting deals or moaning?
YAWN! I would ask stupid rhetorical questions/make hypocritical moans about deals that do not exist/others moaning, but then I would be as boring as you!

Got this as a backup for when I went on a long coach trip shortly before christmas. Good quality phone, v basic but a few features I wish my smart phone had
Ordered one of these and received it in the post but the box had been opened. I went to an Orange shop and the manager said they couldn't sort it but I could use her phone to report it. The shop manager was very helpful but unable to assist due to the phone having been bought online.
I contacted Orange and was passed through 7 departments with no-one prepared to take ownership and resolve the issue.I was not planning to use the phone so resisted activating the sim until I was ready. A week later I discovered that someone had activated the SIM so I lost 7 days of use. I eventually gave up on trying to resolve the issues with Orange and vowed to use the credit then bin the sim due to the poor customer service.
I have attempted to register the Orange "your account" online but it says the website is under maintenance. Likewise the "Orange plus" app loaded to my phone promises to send a text message with my balance but it never arrives, Therefore I can't even check my balance to see how much credit I have left.
My introduction to Orange customer service has been less than satisfactory but on the plus side the phone was unlocked for 99p off ebay so I ended up with a cheap unlocked phone. I just won't be using it on Orange.

You can get Nokia 101 for that price, which will be unlocked and far better phone. As for Orange as a company - absolute crap, who cares about 2014 free minutes when you need to top up £10 every month...

nokia 101 is dual sim i think, could you give a link where its available at this price? thanks
Even the Nokia 100 is more expensive than that, new

I see little point in having a dual SIM phone with just dual band on it.
Even the Nokia 100 is more expensive than the phone that the OP is recommending, so I'm not sure why someone suggested that the Nokia 101 is the same price.

Nokia 100 - £9.95 Here

Nokia 101 was £8.99 on Amazon last week, now it is OOS.
The phone that the OP has mentioned is 99p plus £10 top-up

SO,you aren't good in maths,mate! 99+10 =£10.99 locked phone to crappy Orange :D
Go on,buy it and enjoy!
I'm certainly not your mate, but I find it quite easy to understand that 99p plus a £10 top-up is much cheaper than £8.99 plus a £10 top-up, or £9.95 plus a £10 top-up :)

The phone itself is £3.95 as upgrade or £4.95 PAYG @ Carphone Warehouse, which will be unlocked.

As for Orange, they are **** X) my family and I have been with them for 15 years, we recently moved over to Ovivo and have never looked back.

£4.95 PAYG at CPW requires a £20 top-up.

If you are already with Orange, you can buy the phone from CPW for just £3.95, no top-up required.

..................... and the phone will still be unlocked..................... you can then put an Ovivo sim in it. lol

No problem, can't say the online chat is much better as when I asked them when they would be restocked they said probably by the weekend, however they expect it to sell out in a couple of hours again... Guessing there must be a stock shortage or some kind( strange as t-mobile still have them), the o/s change also concerns me slightly however I still have an android backup for playing games. The size of the z1 doesn't bother me as I have large hands, but I am bothered by the fact that the z1 images appear noisy in samples from a few reviews.

Hi Guys, need some help/ advice if possible.
Finally got around to setting up the phone. Came with android version 4.04 (ICS).
When I downloaded iplayer it wants BBC media player to be installed.
Once that downloads says "error, package file is invalid".
Iplayer therefore doesn't work.
Read somewhere on xda that should work on Jelly bean? Mod apk listed for download on the site.
Has anyone got iplayer it to work on ICS?
Is there any disadvantage of upgrading to JB? Read on previous remarks, poorer battery life? Cannot move files to SD via app2sd ?
PS: Storage says 5.26 GB. Thought it had 8GB storage? Sos, might be a dumb quest but wheres the rest of it gone? Is it for the system? Does JB take more int memory?
Cheers for any advice/ help. Most appreciated.

Had to order another over the phone from T-mobile as first went missing. Just got it today! But upon inspection the box is abit tattered with a rip down one side and big white sticker mark across the top. Inside, the accessories seem unused and the phone seems ok although there is a very slight mark on the back by the camera that doesnt appear to come off.

Did anyone else get this or did you get a decent box etc..?

It's just it's for a present for my partner so thinking about phoning them up to ask about it. :/

Ah, got it sorted, happy now. Finally after getting through to the right person, the women from customer services was very nice and offered me extra topup for the box looking bashed up and tatty. Happy with that. I'll just explain to the person who it's for that it was the "last one they had" but the phone seems fine.

Glad you got it sorted, mine did come from Orange with the seal broke but fortunately the phone was pristine and the accessories unused (though they did offer a replacement if I wasn't happy). Your other half should be happy, I've only had a few days with the Razr-i and I love it, all of my apps work (even the iplayer now) with the exception of Dead Space (which doesn't work on anything plus I've since learnt that there is a way around the incompatible app message http://****.com/o6cxboj.

I got 2 phones, an LG L3 and a Samsung e2121b which was offered to me for a fiver. The LG L3 box was dented but it was acceptable unlike the Samsung which was in a worse state. Here's a pic of my LG L3 if you're wondering, it's deep blue running Ice cream sandwich and overclocked to 1ghz:

Never again! My order arrived one day late and one of the phones looks like it's been trampled on. You can see dirt marks on the packaging and the box is very crumpled all over and very soft. I didn't even bother to open it. I'll drop by a Carphone Warehouse branch to have it replaced. Next time I'll just collect from the shop instead of getting it delivered at home. This is how they must have handled it: click here Thanks Yodel!

I don't understand how the main carriers can be so bad - they charge a premium, compared to the virtual operators (Tesco, talkmobile etc) yet their service (certainly in Orange's case) is really poor.

The way I see it with Orange and T-Mobile is they now hide behind this guise of EE. This means they can provide useless customer service and EE get it in the neck instead of them! The guy I eventually talked to was from EE and I felt a bit sorry for him tbh cas he was actually very helpful but his job was basically to listen to people wittering on about how crap orange are then compose an email to be passed on to orange! I cant see this improving until one company exists instead of 3!
Yeah, mad situation isn't it. Clearly not a long term situation.

Unbelievable that lot! Took me ages to find the right combo of key presses to get through to ther customer service. Then I find out they had refunded me (Without telling me anything) But "forgot" to refund the £10 PAYG charge on my account!!!!! Anybody getting refunds please check carefully!! It should be £49.99 for phone then £10.00 refund for top up!!

These lot are absolutely horrible horrible people! Makes me glad I didnt get the phone in the end!
Just as well I'd subscribed to this thread, as I'd forgotten about checking the refund.
I have a deposit paid by "OPCS EQUIP VT" for £50 - so assume that must be orange. They didn't charge me for the top-up in the first place.

There's a workaround to switch sd - internal storage, but then you have to unlock bootloader, root and lose warranty entitlement. :|

No Orange bloatware, not a single app - just a few Motorola apps (which actually are useful, SmartActions is great). Phone feels very much stock android.
Mine came with 4.0.4 and ipdated to 4.1.2 viaa Settings menu (384Mb download)

Unlock appears to have worked perfectly - I tried it with the microsim from Mrs Sean2k's iPhone 4S and it was as straightforward as typing in the number when I was prompted on startup.

Just received my Orange Hollywood phone.

First impression it is great.I like the combination with the touchscreen.

Just to confirm that Virgin, T-mobile, and also 3g Orange Sim cards work on this Orange locked phone.
Just posting to expire this.. OOS

it's still available as T-Mobile Beat on their site but you have to buy a £20 top-up rather than £10

Re the T-Mobile issue, I will give it a go when I get the phone!

Claimed through TCB - Cashback has now tracked at full amount and confirmed!!!!

I think this is a testiment to TCB though. They are great and always find my claims. Quidco weasle out of everything I've thrown at them. Hence why I always use TCB now if I can help it
Got my sim + letter. Mine tracked at £45.45

@withabix: Check out HulloMail, it's free. Use it myself to avoid paying for Orange's voicemail service. The caller diverts to Hullomail, and the cost is taken off my inclusive minutes.
Thanks for this. Am now using HulloMail to avoid paying Orange for using voicemail.
SIM arrived ok, but TCB not tracked and claim lodged. If it doesn't official track within the next few days I'll have to cancel also :(
Further to my post Number 63. Not only has my cashback not tracked, my order still has not arrived (ordered Thursday morning and dispatched Thursday (even the direct debit letter has arrived today). I will be promptly cancelling due to the poor delivery times and non tracked cashback which I don't think will work to be honest. This deal is only a deal if the cashback actually tracks which for me hasn't!

I got the sim and rang to activate it, they said no such deal exists even though I had the correspondences saying so but they would not budge. Ended up cancelling as they wanted to charge me full wack.

So you could only get the offered tariff if you activated the sim while the offer was still running? That's shocking, misrepresentation at the very least!

I am paying £12 a month with Virgin Mobile sim only for the premier plan which I get the following:

2500 any net mins - including those dodgy numbers such as lyca mobile, vecton mobile, etc.
unlimited landline calls
unlimited text
unlimited web - I have already used up over 4gb without any issues.

For those of who complain about speed cap after 3.5gb, this is not causing me a slightest bit of problem at all. I am streaming videos, downloading, etc, etc, and to be honest I cannot see a slightest difference at all. Basically I am doing what I was doing before I reached 3.5gb now running at nearly 5gb and still rolling, actually I am doing more after I reached 3.5gb without issues.

Conclusion: This plan is well worth it for me and planning to reduce the line rental even further.

Does anyone know how reliable this information is that Virgin will discount down to £7.50 after 3 months? You phone and say what, that you want to cancel? Wouldn't we need a dangling carrot in the way of a cheaper line rental elsewhere?

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Can anyone help with this query?
For those worried about 08 numbers, consider using WeQ4U, possibly the most money saving app on my phone. Whenever you try to call an 08 number which it recognises, it instead rings its own 03 number (included within inclusive mins, even better if you have unlimited landline mins) and connects you. As a bonus, if you are then put into a queuing system, you can simply press 9* and put the phone down. it then rings you back when you are at the front of the queue. Works with Android and iPhones.
For voicemail use Hullomail - again free via an 03 number utilising your inclusive minutes.

PS THE £11 DEAL IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS FROM 10AM THIS MORNING

I appreciate that in itself your package is a good deal but £12 per month is over £8 per month more than this deal.

I don't need all the minutes/data on your plan so why would I pay more than £8 per month extra?

By paying £8 a month extra you can allow your mobile to be used by your friends and family. You have approximately 30 days in a month so you can allow thirty people to borrow your phone.
