A hot water bottle is a simple thing, but it's not something I'd take a chance on from a pound shop; I've had enough scalds from water bottles that were sound but had an exposed hot spot through the cover and they take ages to heal. http://www.boots.com/en/Chocolate-Fur-Hot-Water-Bottle_954420/ and similar in different colours seems perfect.

How much did you think they'd be at Poundland? :)

Seriously, never seen the appeal of taking a rubber bag of boiling water to bed...

They also have 2 mini ones for £1 too. They're a large hand size.

Not been scalded yet.

They had mini ones, but these are full size. Fits right into a full-size outer, replacing the old one like for like. The picture is just a random google image, since Poundland don't have stock items on their website.

What makes you think that paying more always gets you a better product? If somewhere else sold it for a fiver would you feel happier?

You're right, it doesn't always. But when it comes to things like this, where safety is an issue, I'd rather not cheap out. Firstly, because the more expensive product may be better; secondly because if there is a fault, I'd trust Boots to publicise a recall effectively; thirdly because if I was the first person to encounter a fault, I'd expect less trouble getting compensation (because they have a brand to protect) and fourthly, because I'd feel really stupid for compromising my safety for the sake of a few quid.

Similarly, I don't use remoulded tyres on my car, or condoms from DealExtreme. :)
