Stayed 2 nights at the up-market Mecure just north of Swindon. I asked for the upgrade when I arrived, it wasn't offered, and ended up with a luxurious room. Food was good and even Guinness was included in the drink-to-death offer. There was an excellent Health Club available as well. The deal is still running until 25/1/2012 and I've just added it to my website. Over the 2 days we drank at least £100 worth of wine and Guinness as this trip was to make up for having a quiet Christmas!

Voted cold.

If you think about it it will cost about £160 for 2 for 2 days.

If you can get a cheap Travelodge room for about £20 per night then you would spend £40.

Could you then really spend another £120 pounds on food and drinks in 2 days?

Most people would find that difficult.

2 breakfasts each, 2 lunch's each and 2 dinners each plus unlimited drinks and you would struggle to spend £120 on that?????????

Heat added.

Depends how far away you are from Alton Towers, i know when i've done the trip there and back in one day I'm very tired by time I get home and thats why i've booked for weekend. Plus, as tickets are prebooked you can gain entrance 1hr before everyone else and as the hotel is only 30-40mins away means not so early a start........and there is the added factor of a cooked breakfast on both days, surely that should win it for you as it did me haha
onintks
Thanks Justme2 will defiantly think about this one now, just got to justify spending 2 nights or should I buy the tickets from Alton towers for half price and just go for the one day mmm decisions decisions.
justme2
I've booked for bonfire weekend and can confirm that the tickets for Alton Towers will allow us to watch the firework display - shame hubby doesn't want to go as in his words "Alton Towers is for 15yr olds" so have a place spare - who wants to come with me (_;)
goderic
I asked a question about children in the rooms as you can only select a twin or double room, the answer was as follows:

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding our Alton Towers Break. I can confirm that the hotel will happily accommodate one child in a room when sharing with 2 adults at the cost of £35.00 per night. If you have 2 children you would be required to purchase 2 rooms.

If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

So no good for me as we have 2 children, hot for couples though

The picture and location is all wrong. That is the Hilton in the city centre. The Park hotel is on the outskirts of Sheffield.
The location of the Park Hotel is not walking distance to anywhere nice at all really. You have Lowedges, Batemoor and Jordanthorpe. All pretty bad areas in my opinion (I know the areas well. Lived this end of town for many a year).
If you want to check the location then follow the link below

There are some good deals on the site, gourmet breaks, pamper breaks and all inclusive meals and drinks breaks too, all for around the same price. When you think that a city travelodge can cost £60 a night if you walk in off the street, £79 a night for 2 people with food and extras, in a 4* hotel with extras is pretty reasonable as a special treat.

Just been on a 2 night and 2 day visit to Legoland with DBB. Stay in a few hotels for work and liked this one as it was clean and modern but had character. Area was also nice for a walk and fresh air. I thought the staff were excellent and food, which was buffet style, was adequate for the target audience i.e. families looking to eat and go. Quality was fine albeit not a fan of cooked breakfasts served buffet style. No complaints overall and would return again.

We loved it when we went last month, couldn't fault a thing and hotel was lovely.

i take it if we booked we would simply go straight to lego land for the day, stay in the hotel that evening. go to legoland the next day and then go straight home?

do they send you the tickets at home or to legoland itself?

what about if we have two adults and 3 children, no good?

I called HotelshopUk direct and because our youngest is 3 there was no extra charge although she was full accommodated for. I think it will be about £27 extra if your third is over 3 yrs old. I also asked them to send us the Legoland tickets to our home address so we could go straight there which they did within 2 days of booking.
I thoroughly recommend this holiday. I hope this helps :)

thanks

Very traditional / posh but they all look fine apart from St Mellons Hotel.
Good deal, there's loads of similar offers with meals included on travelzoo for various places around the country.

They all look fine? And a good deal?

From the reviews you would be insane to want to pay them money to stay at any of these hotels, unless you wanted to get onto the next series of "Holidays from Hell".

Did this at the time, just looked to book again and looks like they've cut out the middle man and are offering it themselves, but for £259 for 2 adults and 2 kids and no dinner now :(
DaveBee
Just back form our trip. Can't fault the deal and manageed to dodge the rain most of the time!!
Be aware that this weekend they changed the dinner to a carvery buffet... still 3 courses of good food, just not as many great choices as ordering from the standard menu. Can't relly blame them for keeping their cost down though, still not sure how they can make money on this deal!!

can anyone who has been already tell me if they picked up tickets on the way to legoland before checking in, and if you did, did you get the packed lunch for that day too?
I'm in 2 minds whether to get the tickets posted or pick them up on the way, our overnight stay is booked for the middle night.

I phoned and asked them to post them to me because they were half an hour on from legoland, not worth me driving there first and picking that and the packed lunch up. Our overnight stay was on the middle night. I would phone them, just to ask. Another reason to phone them, book a dinner time, they get very busy.
We had a few little niggles; I phoned a week before to book dinner for 6.30pm because my daughter eats early. When we got there they said there was no booking made, not happy. They said they would set a table up in the bar area which to be fair is very nice, so left it at that. However when we came down the restaurant knew about the booking, so all ok.
Another niggle, the rooms are incredibly hot, no air conditioning in ours, we had a fan, which was helpful. Last niggle was that on the bill, (they took £50 off my debit card for extras on arrival) when I looked through there was a charge of £12.00 odd for something. I questioned it and the girl on reception was annoyed by me doing this. She checked and said it was for my daughter’s meal. I explained this was included in the price she didn't seem to know about this. They took it off but just said "that’s done", no apology! Seems to be not much communication between the restaurant and reception. Just check on your bill at the end.
Don't get me wrong I may be being picky, but I am going to book again. The food was brilliant and the accommodation lovely. Just my opinion and experience, I don’t know how they make money out of this!

Some of Slaley Hall are in need of a upgrading but it is still miles ahead of many of the devere hotels.I regularly stay at devere's the only one i would NEVER stay at again is blackpool. There was a queue to complain. One couple were complaining about their wedding, honey room suite with ripped carpet ,lounge area seats had sponge coming out .I could go on as i did to the management who never got back to me.
This deal at slaley hall is good as it is one of there deluxe hotel.i would book.

I live less than 4 mile from this hotel.. golf courses are fantastic but the accomodation is nothing special, vastly overpirced, as is the bar and the restaurant...

I don't play golf so will miss out on that part. The meal is included in the price so just the bar I will have to tackle but with free wine on arrival I probably wont hit the bar that much :)

I did stay here recently, with the family.
I have stayed at other DeVere hotels and this was my least enjoyable experience of all.
Rooms were badly in need of a refurbishment, some had been done, but not the ones we had.
Breakfast was very poor.
Didn't have an evening meal so can't comment.
If you play golf, you will love the course - I don't so again no comment.
Swimming pool - water quality! Take goggles.
value for my stay, no.
At this price, worth at try, it may suit you and your family.
Even at this price, I probably will not go there again.

I've used this deal twice before to stay in Wolverhampton - Both excellent visits and we had a great time, with spot on food (good menu choices). Breakfast was buffet type and not that great, but after the free bar the night before, no-one was complaining! :) Staff were friendly and helpful and overall I though the deal for £80 per person for basically 2 days of free living was excellent. Heat and rep as we're booking again :)

Don;t go then - this is a deal that's being posted, not for comments by someone that has had a bad experience in some towns.

The deal is to stay in a 3* hotel that is deserted at the weekend because the only people that stay there are sales reps in the week because they have to. Let's face it, these are hardly great destinations for a weekend away. That's why I voted cold.

Your looking at the Derby Hotel.

Now all well and good for someone who wants to go and stay over in Derby? (Who?)

Now look at the London & Edinburgh ones. £129 & 120 respectively pp for a 3* hotel that is discounted?

I.e. 2 nights for 2 people = £240.... hardly a 'hot' deal is it?

I've stayed in a lot more reputable hotels for less.

Likewise, i'm sure I could manage to find a better deal for Derby out there.

OK just to add to the confusion:
2 nights b&b plus free dinner for 2 on both nights for 49.50 per person.
