I love my gadgets and this looks really smart and unlike most of my gadgets this will take up hardly any room in the kitchen as its only 28cm x 15cm x 30cm. It comes in 3 different colours, cream, red or brushed silver and it has an impressive 19 bars of pressure so the coffee should taste amazing too.

It takes the illy coffee pods / capsules and you can change the size of the drink in the settings. It has an 800ml tank and an onboard waste bin for 9 used capsules.

You don't get any capsules with the machine but they are all readily available from ocado, ebay, amazon,anothercoffee.co.uk etc.

Same machine is £109 from appliance house, £94.99 on eBay, £89.65 from Amazon and with the free delivery £29.99 seems a real bargain.

Mixed capsules £45.21 for 126 delivered here....

Ocado 3 different types £9.50 for 21 capsules

Ocado sell them 21 for £9.50, amazon, ebay, anothercoffee.co.uk - already checked! :)OCADO 3 TYPES £9.50 for 21
wow, over 45p per espresso with no milk capsule included. And I though my Nespresso at 31p a shot was expensive.
It's 37.36 per cup at espressocrazy
I was quoting the supermarket prices, can you confirm if the IIIy coffee tastes 7p a cup better than the 20 odd Nespresso varieties?

I used to work in the murky world of printer consumables and we called it 'the drug model' - get people hooked cheaply (virtually give away the hardware) then zap them when they need the ink - caveat emptor!

Aliexpress sell a refillable capsule and tamper, though it's not cheap! Might as well buy a manual espresso machine in the first place.

Possibly not ideal for this particular model if it drops the used capsules into a tray.
#22
I voted hot. I have a tassimo for the office. Coffee is ok but capsules are expensive same as this thing. I have a bean to cup machine at home which can make lattes etc and while the initial outlay for the machine is more I think in the long run it's cheaper and the coffee is far superior.

I would but I will not buy anything from a maker who engineers their appliances so poorly they catch on fire every now and then.

heat, just bagged one for £22.49, thanks op !!!!!!!!!!!

So what is the best way to get these pods at a good price if i got this? Just looking because I don't want to invest if it will cost a lot to keep stocked

Be interesting to see the stats for the ones that went on fire, ie how regular they were cleaned out per guidance.

We had one of the affected models and it survived heavy usage for long enough but was fairly well looked after.
#33
Is it just me or if this cheap due to the heavy price to pay for a cup of coffee, unless of course your basing it on cafe costs then it sounds cheap
#34
I like Illy coffee but not another coffee pod system...

I've seen Tassimo, Nespresso, Dolce Gusto and Modo Mio in most supermarkets.
ASDA offer 3 boxes for £10 on the above or I buy a box to get up to £10 in Waitrose for a free Sunday Times.

We will never see such data but somehow other brands are not known for it as hotpoint is, I would imagine the general user is most likely the same as for the caring/maintenance of the machine.

What they say in the manual is one world, and what people do is another, the trick is to make the stuff for people ;)

Dam I would have snapped this up if it wasn't the iperEspresso the choice is really limited, need the TASSIMO really. great price if you don't mind the iperEspresso lock in but I guess this is probably why they are trying to offload these units cheap

is an Americano not just a shot of espresso with some extra water so why would you need a specialised capsule?

Why do people think that 19 bars means a better coffee?thats how they trick you into buying these machine. A real, proper coffee is made at 9 bars. No more than that. 19 bars is a s**** coffee and its a marketing things.
PS: and price/kg when it comes to pods is waaay more than a famous coffee. Long term - its a rip off:)

Wouldn't personally buy hotpoint white good but the reason we ended up with this was my mother wanted one and we bought it for her but ended up taking it when she passed away.

She wanted hotpoint to replace her off white goods, had always had them and they obviously don't make them like they used to because she had them for years.

Wasn't long ago Beko had to send engineers out to replace something in a fridge freezer think it was due to some going on fire where someone was killed.

I watched the engineer take our machine apart and he showed me where it could potentially go wrong but it really boils down to probably not maintaining the machine
