Hotpoint have a reputation for poor reliability - but for a tad over a hundred quid it must be worth a punt.

I have had my hotpoint for 10 years now,and only now the only thing that its ever had wrong with it is a leaky door when I overfill it

Nice one ordered, heat added. A real bargin from Dixons of all places!

Good enough price for me, moving into my house this week, for just over £100 I don't mind if I only get a year out of it! :)

Hotpoint = Indes(h)it

Hotpoint can be hit an miss. I spent £400 on an Aqualtis.... it blew up in less than 2 years.

Good deal tho - probs can't get a cheaper washer with the same spec.

10 years might as well be ten centuries - old washing machine brand name reliability bears little relation to now :-(

That said, this is spectacularly cheap, and if you have your home insurance up to date for flooding, and have lots of days holiday spare that you can take at short notice while you wait in for the repair man, then it's still a bargain!

must admit with what the others have said i work for a company dealing with all products cookers washing machines etc and hotpoint told the company to order say 50 heaters instead of 10 because they come with faults which i must admit is pathetic because they scam you into buying parts which are so massively overpriced its unbelievable :( .... anyway that was my 2 cents.
#24
made in poland call out rate 38% cheap but low grade also problem with bearings be warned!
#25
Just ordered,if i get 12 months out of it still cheaper than the one i rent, gret find cheers

Branded? Branded with "FAIL" all over it perhaps. That brand has a terrible reputation.

Has anyone who has ordered received a confirmation email yet?

Second to that! It is a disposable washing machine it will break.

Hotpoint are very good washing machines. We have had one for the best part of 10 years now and only ever had one issue - a snapped spring which was almost certainly caused by over loading the drum.
The reason I will only buy a hotpoint washing machine is the spares are so easy to come by - it cost be a few quid and about 15 minutes to fix it myself.

I doubt this price will be honoured as you always get one muppet who orders 20 of them which ruins it for everyone else!
#34
thanks just ordered one fingers crossed that it arrives
#35
Aw crap!

I've ordered one to replace our 11 yr old Hotpoint and took the cover plan out for 5 yrs too.

Hope it's honoured. Perfect timing for us.

Thanks to original poster anyway :)

That naive conclusion has already been demolished in this thread, besides which, one only-broken-once (!) washing machine does not a summer make (i.e. it's an insignificant sample).
#37
well at the moment theres a internal server error so im taking it they have clocked it but will keep trying anyway!!!

Got one ordered as others have said if it goes through not bad if it does not oh well but TYVM to OP as needed a new Washing machine

As part of my job we use a lot of different washing machines and I'm pretty hot on repairing them.

Based on my experience, this isn't a bad machine for the price but the Hotpoint reliability is not great.

The comments about machines lasting 10 years is definitely true. We have recently disposed of three 12 year old Hotpoint machines which had very few problems throughout their life (used 6 times a day, 5 days week, 52 weeks a year). However, in the past few years when we have bought Hotpoint machines they are awful and will not last beyond a year or so in our working conditions. In fairness, as washing machines have become more reliant on electronics than simple mechanics this could be said of all brands.

The main problem is the drum bearing will fail as it isn't waterproof. This is normally too expensive and time consuming to fix and thus, we have scrapped three machines with a similar chassis to this one. There are a number of other problems which can occur with this machine that are very expensive to fix and the poster who states spares are cheap is not entirely correct when it comes to the more modern hotpoints.

I guess with normal use the machine will have a longer life span and so may be good value.
