Birth Certificate. £6.00

http://www.greatgifts.org/GiftSelection/productdetail.aspx?GiftID=453

Give two young school children in Senegal a truly precious gift:
their identity.

Without being registered at birth, thousands of children are denied access to healthcare, education and employment. You can help them become a citizen with legal rights – and a better future.

More Information

Seven out of ten newborns in Sub Saharan Africa have no birth certificate and therefore no official identity. In Senegal, not having a birth certificate means being unable to prove age, nationality or parentage. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child imposes an obligation on state parties to register the birth of every child. If children are not registered at birth there is a danger that they will be excluded from society and that the state will not fulfil obligations toward them.

In Senegal, there is meant to be compulsory education for children aged 7 onwards, but children can miss out on education if parents and the state don’t know the child’s age. When excluded from the education system, children are more vulnerable to exploitative forms of work and trafficking.

Children without a birth certificate may not be able to access medical treatment or might pay more than children with a birth certificate.

Why this gift really helps
This project will equip 4000 Sengalese children with birth certificates so that they can be legally recognised in important areas from their first need as a child right through to when they grow up and gain employment.

This one document can help someone access health care, education and other government services. By giving a child a birth certificate they become a citizen with the rights that citizens are afforded

My entry is for Walking Dog Balloons!

http://www.prezzybox.com/data/media/10784.jpg

"They come in three heart warming varieties – a pretty pug, a darling dachshund and a remarkable retriever. A virtual pet for every household that definitely doesn’t need feeding and is extremely well house trained!! These were featured on the Des and Mel Lunchtime show earlier in the year - their guest Graham Norton loved his!

The magic of the Dog Balloons is their ability to walk. They have been balanced perfectly so that when filled with helium they float just above the ground with their little feet dangling to the floor. When you gently walk with them, pulling the lead, their little legs and feet appear to walk giving a super fun, realistic K9 look."

total delivered £7.90

http://www.firebox.com/index.html?dir=firebox&action=product&id=139&showAllImages=0

Shot glasses made from ice! Brr-illiant, we hear you cry! Simply fill the Ice Shot Glasses mould with water, bung it in the freezer and before you know it you'll have 12 perfectly formed frozen shot glasses. Water is the obvious option with which to make your Ice Shot Glasses but you can use pretty much anything else that freezes - within reason, please! We're particularly into cranberry juice at the mo, as the faint zing complements certain grain based drinks to perfection. The colour's cool too. Or how about bombing a B52 encased in frozen orange? The possibilities are endless!

Hi there, I really love the website - this is my first post so please don't be too harsh

I've just been looking for Christmas presents on the book people and found the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack 2006 for a bargain £9.99! This hardcover book is heavy, at 1600 pages. Perfect for anyone who's into the Ashes at the moment... RRP is £38 and Amazon are currently selling for £22.42.

As it's my first time, I'm not sure how to upload an image:? , but here's my attempt to show you the front cover...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/0947766987/ref=dp_image_0/026-5649531-0690041?ie=UTF8&n=266239&s=books

If that's not worked, then you can see it here at the link to the book:
http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=100&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&productId=35033

You can get free delivery by using the voucher code 575FPP

All sneaks in at just £9.99 delivered.
thanks for looking!

I think this is a great gift...I liked it since the first day it got into news more almost 2 years ago!
The news article is here if you are interested: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4209571.stm

Basically, the gift is called: Message egg. Not exactly the same as the one reported in the news, but somewhat similar.
PRODUCT LINK: http://iwantoneofthose.com/message-egg/index.html

If you ever wondered how they got ships into bottles, then this is going to blow a few fuses in the "How the *!#?*!?" part of your brain.

Message EggThe Message Egg is an astonishing and deeply silly bit of genetic engineering (well, almost) gone haywire. Pop the can open, add water and within a matter of hours the egg will begin to crack as a bean plant begins to grow (not a chicken, as you might normally expect). This is pretty cool in itself, but not only will a bean plant grow out of the egg, the bean will have a message on it! How the...?

Who knows, and who cares, it's just a deeply weird and excellent bit of fun. The message you get on your bean will be either 'Happy Birthday', 'I Love You', 'Happy Christmas' or 'Happy New Year'. The bean will germinate in about 5 to 7 days, by which time the message will be fully 'hatched' for all to see.

We're still scratching our heads over this one, and it's had us all enthralled for far longer than is healthy. Egg and beans have never been so cool.
Features

* One message egg in clear germination container.
* The egg cracks open to reveal a bean with a special message: 'Happy Birthday', 'I Love You', 'Happy Christmas', or 'Happy New Year'
* The bean can then be planted to grow.

Warning: as the message eggs are live plants they sometimes have a will of their own resulting in a very low percentage refusing to grow.

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7505/meseggalt1lt8.gifhttp://img278.imageshack.us/img278/8237/meseggalt1qu6.jpg

Isn't it cute? You can buy it for your friend/family/partner/etc about 5-7 days before Christmas and ask them to grow it....so that the message is revealed on Christmas Day! You can choose messages like Happy Christmas, Happy New Year, I Love You or Happy Birthday (will be great if the person receiving the gift happen to have his/her bday on Xmas!)

Now, for the price:
Happy Birthday -£1.99
Happy Christmas - £1.99
I Love You - £4.95
Happy New Year - £1.99

Delivery is £3.95 for UK delivery (1-3 days)

I also found a voucher for £5 off (no-minimum spend) here, making this an absolute bargain! (Code: bringme5pp) Also, you can buy up to 5 eggs (let's focus on the one priced £1.99, with the message "Happy Christmas or Happy New Year since they are the most relevant) and the total is still under £10 delivered!

Here's the breakdown (or summary):

OPTION 1: If you want to buy for 5 person
Buy 5 eggs (message choices: "Happy Christmas or "Happy New Year") = £9.95
£5 off code = -£5.00
Delivery (1-3 days) = £3.95
Total (including VAT) = £8.90
Hence, £1.78 per gift!
Screenshot (click to enlarge):
http://img328.imageshack.us/img328/6223/eggtt9.th.jpg

OPTION 2: If you want to buy for 1 person
Buy 1 egg (message choices: "Happy Christmas or "Happy New Year") = £1.99
£5 off code = -£1.99
Delivery (1-3 days) = £3.95
Total (including VAT) = £3.95
Hence, £3.95 per gift delivered!
Screenshot (click to enlarge):
http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/3716/egg2bv7.th.jpg

OPTION 3: If you want to declare your love to someone on Christmas day
Buy 1 egg (with the message: "I LOVE YOU") = £4.95
£5 off code = -£4.95
Delivery (1-3 days) = £3.95
Total (including VAT) = £3.95
Hence, £3.95 per gift delivered!

Sonic Alarm

http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/store/assets/images/product/songre/songre_lg.jpg

Do you find it hard to get your partner or the kids up in the morning? Well the Sonic Alarm is the perfect solution to your problem.
Getting that grumbling snuffling bulk out from under the duvet in the morning is a challenge you really shouldn't have to bother yourself with. Especially as the thing that emerges is inevitably grumpy and looks like a hung-over swamp monster. Well the Sonic Alarm makes the whole 'getting them out of bed' exercise a very simple, and indeed amusing, operation. Looking like an old-fashioned comedy hand grenade, the Sonic Alarm will wake pretty well anything up. Simply pull the pin, yell an emphatic "fire in the hole" and lob the grenade into the sleeper's room. After twenty seconds a very annoying noise (there are three volume settings) will blast out from the alarm. That's not all however, what makes this especially great is that to stop the alarm the sleeper has to find you so you can put the pin back in. It's stupid, and brilliant, and will be the bane of every over-sleeper on the planet. Parents are going to love this, though the soon to be rudely awoken might not.

Features

----> Pull the pin and 20 seconds later the alarm will sound.
----> Requires 3 x AAA batteries (not included)
----> Size: 13 x 8 x 6cm

This Truly is The best gift to give to any Prankster or a parent with teenagers!

Entry One for me is from FIREBOX.COM. Called the Humunga "this gloriously daft fetch toy will entertain dogs and owners for hours on end, and it's guaranteed to provide you with the greatest doggy photo opportunity since Pickles the pooch discovered the World Cup in '66 (ask your parents)...Basically the Humunga Tongue is a non-toxic rubber ball with an enormous great tongue moulded on to it. When your dog picks it up, he/she immediately looks like something that might have escaped from Toontown, as the elongated tongue section hangs out of your bow wow's mouth in a highly amusing, 'Ooby Dooby Doo' fashion" :

http://www.petacatalog.org/images/250-CA160.jpg

Classy, I think you'll agree. The Humunga is available here:
