Next cheapest I see is £ 9.04

Hero director Zhang Yimou throws scene after stunning scene at you in House of Flying Daggers, a dazzling epic of true breathtaking action, passionate romance, Oscar nominated cinematography and serene beauty.

Hoping she will lead them to her fellow assassins, two captains (Takeshi Kaneshiro, Andy Lau) hatch a plan to capture and trick Mei (Ziyi Zhang - Hero; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), a beautiful dancer suspected of having ties to the House of Flying Daggers, a powerful revolutionary faction. From there begins a long trail of dangerous encounters, impossible love triangles and plot twists, in which people are rarely as they seem... With some of the most beautiful martial arts scenes ever filmed, this is a visual masterpiece and a feast for the senses.

Do you like things like Hero, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Curse of the Golden Flower? If so then yes.

Bet the bamboo scene is awesome in HD.

Reviews of this bluray reveals that the transfer was very poorly done :(
#7
meh if thats true about the transfer. The banmboo scene and the echo dance would look amazing. I thought this film was excellent and on a par with crouching tiger and hero, but its really a love story.
#8
Excellent price
the transfer could be better but the sound is truely awesome
well worth it

Yeah it gets a "copper" rating on the almighty Blu Ray PQ thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1168342

From a review: "I'd go so far as to say this is the worst HD image I've ever seen".

Shame as this film would look stunning on a decently produced Blu Ray.

On that basis I wpuldnt buy it then until they redo it. IT could be an absolutely awesome blu ray, the use of colour is stunning. A bad copy would just annoy me.

I'm out.

Went the Apocalypto route instead

This was a great show on DVD and visually stunning. Disappointing to hear the Blu-ray transfer not up to scratch.

I just bought Red Cliff (2 disk full version) on Blu-ray and its great.

Big TV, a cool beer, some decent crisps and you'll have a good evening.

does anyone think that they will ever re-do it as i haven't heard of them doing this with other blu ray movies?

If there's money to be made yes they will. Although bear in mind when folks say the transfer's not great that means 'for Blu-ray', it's still better than DVD and has the advantage of HD audio.

Advice needed

Upscaling dvd players (sony)

Would they be as good as ps3?

EDIT - NEVER MIND, JUST FOUND OUT PS3 UPSCALES TO 1080p SO NO NEED TO BUY AN UPSCALING DVD PLAYER.

I am hoping they redo this. They redid 'The Fifth Element', then again the demand for that film is alot higher than this.
