The House of the Dead: OVERKILL charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead.

Survival horror as it's never been seen before! A pulp-style take on the classic SEGA light-gun shooter series. Back when the famous Agent G was still fresh out of the academy, he teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little did they know what blood-soaked mutant horror would await them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City.

Features:
Pulp Funk Horror. Zombie cool, one of the most popular shooter classics injected with a whole new retro b-movie look.
An utterly in-your-face zombie-dismembering blast. Non-stop light-gun style action on Wii, blow apart zombies for high-score thrills.
Superb co-op action on Wii. Bring a friend and play the game as intended in your own buddy action movie as two of the meanest characters in video gaming.
Relentless, gore-drenched, over-the-top action. Only the coolest, most cold-hearted agent's going to keep his head against the zombie flood. Use "Slow-Mofo Time" to make the perfect head-popping shot and "Evil Eye" to spot moments of opportunity that'll send the whole environment up in flames.
Wiimote reactions. Get knee-deep in the dead with motion-sensitive Wii-controls. Shuck a shotgun and when the zombies get too close, pistol whip jaws off or cave some heads in with the stock of your pump-action - all in stomach-churning close-up.

IMO definitely one of the best games for the wii

I have got this and think it is really slow and boring. Was a big fan of HOTD1 & 2 but this installment doesn't feel like a HOTD game. Gone are the so-bad-they-are-good phrases like "We're meeting G over there" and in is a token black guy smack talkin in pointlessly drawn out cut-scenes. For £7.99 it is a good price, but for HOTD fans this is a low point of the (not that great anyway) series.

Don't forget cashback on this too!

Gunna order one, would it be worth buying a specialist gun for this game? I seem to remember more pricer versions bundled with a gun?

You've missed the point. This HOTD is parodying the sort of explotation.b-movie horror of the 70's - ala Grindhouse - and it does it very effectively. The originals were much more boarderline 'is-this-a-joke-or-are-they-serious', in much the same way Resident Evil was.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/600-House-of-the-Dead-Overkill is as informative as it is scathing!

The gun does give for a better experience but not required.
I've got the Nyko Wii Perfect Shot and found it pretty good, although I seem to remember the official HOTD revolver getting a good price. There are a few different gun addons for the Wii so it's worth reading reviews and making your own choice what one will be best for you.

As for the game it's a good price. Think this is online only as was in a GAME store yesterday and after regaining my senses at seeing the ridiculous price tags on everything I think this was around £12.

*EDIT - Topcashback on this will get you 9% off taking it to £7.27

Sir you forget yourself. I am very aware of the parody. I was excited about it when GamesTM previewed it- the grainy filter looked great in pictures. Shame it didn't look so hot in action.
I don't think the grindhouse approach worked. A good parody doesn't just replicate the source- it makes subtle fun at it. This game didn't do that, it just had a loudmouthed slap head and a stock FBI character acting exactly as they would in a grindhouse movie. Its like when Stone and Parker tried to rip off sitcoms with Thats My Bush. As good a parody of a sitcom it was- it wasn't actually funny.

"is-this-a-joke-or-are-they-serious'"....I think they were dead serious. Thats what made the old games so funny. It was unintentional. Same goes for Resident Evil (Jill cries) "what is it?"......(Barry walks over) ".....blood!". Comedy gold.

It usually goes on sale at this price. Thought I'll just order it now rather than put it off further... alas my GAME account seems to be deactivated and Gameplay have something wrong with Maestro cards.

I can wait. :p Heat added.

Still in stock at Game online at this price.

Suggest change title and unexpire.

Yeah, it's back in stock at £7.99. Time to unexpire!
