big offers arent in peoples good books at the moment, hot for the price, cold for the customer service, so not voted.
#2
How does these VIA Procs compare to the Atom N270s?
#3
Good build quality but super slow processor - spend the extra £30 on a proper netbook...
#4
I have one andeven with 2gb ram upgrade I can't watch youtube as the processir is rubbish. OK for word processing etc... and really nice build quality. Even you don't need lots of video etc then its good. You will need more ram so allow £20 for this.
#5
to be honest, my atom 1.6ghz with windows 7 can't play youtube video's either

i think its perfect for facebooking , think missus will get this so that i can get my asus netbook back fro mher :p
#6
I would not buy from these guys again vote cold.

The Via Nano is about the same speed. This Via C7 is somewhat slower.
#9
The C7 is slower than the atom.

These HP netbooks were some of the first onto the market, and although the processor is decidedly weedy, the keyboard is particularly good, as is the build quality. If you're after a netbook to cart around and write on then this could be a bargain.
#10
The laptop is ok,but the battery life is terrible.
#11
their sister site were selling these last month for £139, but they were marked as recertified.

http://www.boffer.co.uk/blog/view.php?boffer_id=1146

No mention of the condition on the bigoffers site, so If anyone is interested, you may want to drop them a line and make sure its new.
#12
Processor performance is dire on this machine and to make things worse it is being sold by one of the UK's worst ever companies. Not worth it IMHO.
#13
Acceptable speed.

Internal HD decoder can be added. Also can be done via thesoon available one for the expresscard slot.
Build quality gives it looks a bit like macbook air but in fact it uses a far stronger alloy for the whole of the chassis.

Bought a TOSHIBA-01011 Laptop Atom N270 from Big offers for £121.98 last week that was posted here on hotukdeals. Was waiting for them to get back to me saying that the price was wrong or something simular. Low and behold they came back and said there was incorrect stock levels but could offer me the HP 2133 Mini-Note Netbook and throw in a Targus RS Vertical Messenger Carry Case at no extra charge.
Had confirmation that it was shipped today so hopefully got a bargin.

Will be happier if or when its here though!!!!

I have had one of these for quite a long time, got it for £159 on a deal from Saverstore a while back.

The screen is great resolution, the keyboard is good although the paint has worn off about 4 or 5 of my keys (its white underneath). Battery is crappy - 2 hours at best. Can't play videos like other people said. Build quality super.

Its a mixed bag.. I like mine but certainly wouldn't buy one again - the battery is a deal breaker and so is the slow video/cpu. I'd get an Atom one if u must buy now or an ION is you must play big videos, or even better wait a while.

Can you not watch video through say a usb memory stick or is it streaming video that you can't watch.

What OS are you using

I think it's a case that these are really slow, I was offered one but people on here have posted reviews etc saying it's slow, so I've avoided.

[FONT=Verdana]I would have to disagree - the HP 2133 Mini-Note is a good runner; yes the CPU is less powerful than an Intel Atom but it's still a good system to use and has a very solid build, especially after HP addressed a couple of engineering issues with it.

I have a good friend, a fellow contractor, who swears by them and uses them extensively especially at one of his client's sites - this netbook can play movie and music media files but it's just a question of ensuring that you have the latest graphic device drivers installed along with the relevant codecs as well (VLC is ideal).

Edit - Here's a link to a consolidated list of online resources for the HP 2133 Mini-Note (I created this for a previous deal thread via Boffer.co.uk). It covers a lot of topics and has links to software and guides as well.

It's not to do with streaming or memory stick or anything, the CPU is just too slow to handle youtube quality encoding.

For another 30 quid there's the Compaq Mini 110 offer at CPW. Yes, I know you can carry on upgrading forever but that one has larger (and excellent) screen, XP OS, 160Gb HDD and an Atom processor. Probably other spec improvements too if you go through the lot and you can walk into the store and pick one up.

I think that's a much better value package.

[FONT=Verdana]I think the key thing is what can you realistically afford to spend at the end of the day.

Due to slow processor, it is not a bargain at all at this price!

I agree, of course. I acknowledged that you can carry on 'upgrading' all day, but I do think you get an enormous amount more for just £30 on the CPW deal. It's really a next generation machine. Lots of people on this thread concerned about the VIA processor and dealing with this retailer so both concerns resolved plus more with the Compaq.
#27
Nice price for a netbook, but can't vote hot with that processor..
