I'm still waiting for the one I ordered to come through from the previous Boffer Deal Thread but from the ones I've used before (at various clients) it feels like a laptop running between 400MHz to 800MHz speeds, so it's slower to work on when compared to Atom CPU based Netbooks that are out there.

Despite that it is still a good quality netbook to use (check out the comments on the Boffer Deal Thread on the early posts) and the build quality is impressive but this is definitely not a netbook you would use for playing older graphic intensive computer games (as you can with the Atom CPU based Netbooks) - using a RAM Disk has been seen to increase performance as well.

Edit - Here's some performance links to give you an idea on it's capabilities.

Edit 2 - Here's a very good performance comparison chart to refer to; this chart allows you to create updated comparisons against netbooks that LaptopMag have reviewed previously.

Are you typing it in or pasting it in? It is case sensitive from what I saw and I made sure that there were no spaces at the end of it when I had pasted it in.

I am currently using a hp pavilion dv9000, but wanted somthin a bit more portable, only 4 surfn web when out n about, how wud this netbook be 4 streamin video or music as i do that a lot with my lappy now:? thanks again 4 all ur help:thumbsup:

This is a slow processor, even compared to an Atom, but should be fine for normal web browsing, email and playing music.
Video playback will depend entirely upon the type of video, there are many, and what it's being played back from. For instance, fullscreen HD flash video (e.g. Youtube) will more than likely bring this machine to a grinding halt as will most other types. DVD and similar *should* be okay as long as there's not too much transcoding (DivX can slow machines down).

For those that remember, anything you could do on a computer 10 years ago you can more than likely do on this, it's going to be roughly equivalent to a P3-600.

Discount Code - The swines have removed it from the system!!! :x B***er, as it was working earlier on when I was checking it out (I swear it was working earlier on today). Sorry folks, not great news I'm afraid.

Video Streaming & Music Media - There is mixed results with regards to this and I would recommend you check out the user communities out there for that (I'm in the middle of a work call just now). If I remember correctly the speakers are quite decent but the problem was the CPU generated mixed results for the video streaming, whilst viewing videos from YouTube; one suggested fix was to install updated VIA Chipset device drivers (in the guides I posted in via the Boffer Deal Thread links I had included).

Mine had Windows XP on it and i slimmed the start menu to a minimum but it would still take nearly 5 minutes to start up and any attempt to open anything before it had fully booted up would lengthen the process or cause it to freeze altogether.

All in all very frustrating.

Hope you enjoy yours Scottyboy - I think they are great and media player classic works really well on this (windows media player is pants). Its very good for working on the train as it doesn't take up too much room but track pad is fiddley when train is moving. Its doesn't come with downgrade (XP) discs but if you contact HP they will send them out........

PS I use a cheap neoprene slip case from DX - its a snug fit but keeps dust, crumbs etc out when its in my rucksack.

Bah, typical, I want one of these and just blew some dough on other things.

I actually put w7 on these at work, runs quite well tbh.

Oh yes and top notch build quality tbh.

Cheers mate - I actually ordered it for a mate of mine, as he trashed the motherboard in his one by mistake (the Boffer Deal was the cheapest one before this one popped up)! :whistling:

There will be more deals coming through, as the resellers will be looking to clear out all of the netbook model stock with Linux and Windows XP Home Edition, so the newer netbook models with Windows 7 Starter Edition become mainstream.

I don't know what the complaints about xp speed are, hibernate is slow, but boot times are fine on a well maintained clean xp install. and it can last a long time in sleep mode anyway.

The main advantages of the 2133 over all other netbooks are:

screen: 1280x768 this is the same resolution as a 15.4" laptop nearly (32 pixels shorter in height)
this makes it extremely clear and able to render webpages properly no matter what. No other netbook (within a sane price bracket) has this due to atom licencing, this is a via processor so doesn't have the same restrictions.

speakers: the speakers on this really are amazing, you wouldn't beleive how loud and clear they are unless you heard them (knocks the socks off my hp9022 17" "entertainment" laptop)

keyboard: 92% size keyboard is a joy to type on.

build quality: i've been using mine almost non stop for the past 10 months, not had a problem. dual booting xubuntu 8.04 (wireless drivers from broadcom's site) and xp with drivers from hp.

i disabled the pagefile in windows to reduce hard disk activity hoping to prolong battery life and prevent the system freezing when the fall sensor kicks in like it can carrying it between rooms or on a bus.

i'm a computer science student so it gets a lot of heavy use programing and web surfing. It's ideal for instant messaging and irc too. Makes a good xhost or terminal client if you have a beefy server somewhere to actually do the processing on too.

Unfortunately dependent upon popularity of a product they do put up the price!

If I remember correctly it was listed for roughly the same price over at SVP, as a deal thread for it was created here on HotUKDeals.
