Just found in HP UK official site. Go to the business laptop section, select ultralight, and you can find HP 2140. select the cheapest model, 314 ex VAT, when check out, enter "HPQUIDCO" and the price will be reduced by 10%. that means 324 for this amazing netbook. PLUS if you use quidco you will earn another 3%, 9.42 quids. therefore in total you pay 314 for this one. I don't think you can get this cheaper anywhere in UK. order before 31 MARCH 2009 and get free delivery. Also note that you have to wait about 2 weeks for delivery.
vocher code also applies to all business laptops.

Hi,

I'm new to netbook / mini laptops so may be wrong on this one, but it seems very similar in spec to the LG x110 netbook for sale on ebuyer for £229 delivered.

1.6 htz Atom processor, 160 gb hard drive, Window XP rather than VISTA (which in my opinion is a bonus).

As I say I'm not 100% sure, but from what I can see you are overpaying by approx £100 if you take looks/styling out of the equasion.

The LG netbook is a re-badges MSI wind. Doesn't have bluetooth (fixed from deal extreme for £2, or play for £5).

Just thought I'd offer an alternative (that I only know about thanks to this site, big thanks all).

For a Netbook with 1GB and and Atom N270 Processor, this is vastley over priced.
The Samsung NC10 is cheapter and better specified, 7-8 hour battery and a better kayboard for starters.

Is it cheap?? Or is Gizmo-gadgets a better buy as I need a mini!
(Don't tell MI5, as these are even easier to leave on a train LOL)

Also whilst this is a nice netbook this initial version has a cripplingly low resolution of 1024x576, there is a higher resolution version coming a few weeks/months later which would be much better. If I was going to spen that much money on one of these I would wait or go for one of the cheaper ones.

Was thinking about getting one of these but it has a slightly odd screen resolution, the connectivity is not as good as the earlier 2133 and speakers aren't as good. Has a faster processor and more memory though.

I got the 2133 from Scan last week for £225 and you can still get the linux version from IT147 for £200....

One of the key features of the 2133 (and presumably the 2140) is that they are built to last - metal cover, good chassis and the screen and keyboard have additional protection.

Hi,

The LG netbook (only one on ebuyer) has a 92-93% full size keyboard,
Bettery life will be less as its only a 3 cell battery.
I'd prefer XP to Vista.

I seems the 1gb ram is attached so a technical job to upgrade I think, but 1 gb running XP should be adequate.

160 gb hard drive.

Keyboard on LG is white on a white base and cover is gloss black.

I believe the LG is a much better buy if comparing like for like, at £229 I couldn't find one with a similar spec near that price. sorry, just ryingf to help as I'm not as quick as others on here getting deals on here, just trying to do my bit!

I decided to go with the 2140 after reading a number of positive reviews - many are calling it the netbook to beat. The NC10 initially cost about £350 and can now be found for around £300, and no doubt the 2140 will get cheaper over time too- so I don't know if it can be called 'vastly over priced.' it is alot smaller and better looking than the NC10, has a more durable metal casing, and the battery lasts longer if you get the 6 cell option. The NC10 keyboard is 93% full size, whereas the 2140 is almost identical at 92% -which is extremely good considering the smaller size of the netbook. The screen is 1024x576 rather than 1024 x 600 - but this wasn't a deal breaker for me.

Newer HD screens are out in US now, not sure about here.

Also - is it possible to actually add these into your basket to order or do you have to call? Because whenever I browse all I can see is the specifications and overview etc - no place to add! Interested in getting the linux version if its cheap :)

works now so ignore above post!

Any idea when HD screen will come to UK?

I tought to buy the HD version, but you have to wait more, I;m afraid.
I bought the HP 2140 with 3 cell battery.
AND I'm selling the 3 cell battery cause I bought a spare 6 cell.
I'm asking just £35. If there is anyone interested, let me know.

What do you mean by wait more?

Im assumig you bought the non-HD version - did you buy it direct from HP? How long did it take to arrive?

Thanks
