Windows 7 remains supported into 2020! Support is no longer free that's all. When was the last time you contacted Microsoft about a problem? I even have the process disabled. Perhaps they will fix windows 10.

Support would be very much required for security patches.... Hackers these days find new ways to rob and without proper patch it's risky

Or search for the Anniversary Edition update file on Microsoft downloads, does the same thing (that's what I've been using!)

Windows 7 will get security patches up to 2020 I think!

I brought the i5, when I installed a copy of window 10, from a copy I had laying around, found it didn't require a key, as the bios knew the machine was entitled to it anyway so should be fine :)

I am circling around this laptop for days but am also interested in laptop + 3-year warranty bundle for £564 (including £96 worth care pack):
http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=ECC_BUNDLE_6082661&opt=&sel=NTB
Does anyone have experience with these models? Is i5 worth considering over i7 (less heat?)
Is the lid stiff/durable? How about hinges, display?

what's a DVD?

DVD ("digital versatile disc" or "digital video disc") is a digital optical disc storage format invented and co-developed by Philips, Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic in 1995.

You obviously don't get constant phone calls regarding problems with it. Not about to argue any way. If it works for you, then that is great.

There are quite a few gaming YouTube videos of i7-6500u on a similar setup.

They basically say it's alright-ish.

Was about to buy it and price gone up ffs :(

Beware of Debenhams Plus. Worst retailer Ive ever had the misfortune to deal with. Would vote anything from them cold as everything gets outsourced via 0870 numbers to different providers. Would be decent deal otherwise!

The model on Debenhams Plus is "Item Code: X0N34EA"
Look it up on HP http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=X0N34EA&opt=ABU&sel=NTB and you will find that it says "Windows 7 Professional 64 (license and media for Windows 10 Pro 64 included)".
This is standard practice with business laptops which ship with Windows 7.

It is £475 (plus £0 to £20 extra for delivery options) here http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/hp-250-g5-intel-core-i7-6500u-2.5ghz-8gb-256gb-ssd-15.6-inch-windows-7-10-x0n34ea/version.asp

I don't know I read the blurb and if anything goes wrong you cannot approach Debenhams in this case you have to go through HP. I hate it when shops abnegate their responsibility and I need a physical presence I can return something to but that is just me.

good find!

Thanks a lot :) I can do with 'budget i7', 'all right-ish', and budget look - as it is supposed to be the first laptop for teenage use.
I think it is future-proof enough and price tag is not too heavy - but it is just me.

256 GB SSD Hard Drive - very small these days....

This seems suspiciously cheap. What's missing?
