Someone asked me if this would be a good buy and I haven't a clue as I don't really look at the bottom end of the market.

Copy pasta:

AMD Quad Core A6-6310 1.8GHz
4GB RAM + 500GB HDD
15.6" LED Display
Windows 10 Home 64bit
Includes 1 Year NBD On-Site Warranty*

The 1 Year NBD On-Site looks to be impressive at this price but that little asterisk probably means it's not what it purports to be.

As for usage, I guess a bit of web browsing and movie watching for someone who is in a hotel one or two nights a week and spending a few hours on trains (with 3 pin sockets).

Specs are exactly what you would expect from £200 laptop. "The multi thread performance is quite similar and on par with Intel's Core i3-4010U. Overall, the A6-6310 should be sufficient for all daily workloads like Office, Internet browsing and multimedia" (notebookcheck.Net) This is a bit saying about the warranty:

1 Year - comes pre registered with HP Care Pack (UK701A) upgrading you to an on-site next business day warranty with HP
This warranty will entitle you to Hardware Support and Parts and Labour

I see nothing dodgy about it.

Are you sure as most have 2 finger and i like the old style 1 finger to scroll up and down when browsing?

Isn't that purely a matter of what touchpad software you have installed, you can usually just tick an option to select different scroll options?
