Since this comes with Vista Business you are entitled to downgrade to XP Pro and still have the ability to use Vista Business in the future; you aren’t licensed to use them both simultaneously though.
This is official Microsoft policy although you’ll need to get an XP Pro CD from HP so check that they will provide that; the larger companies should do this with no hassle. You will need to download XP drivers manually unless HP also provides a driver disk. I don’t know if they do although I know that Dell doesn’t.

Here are two links explaining this:

Just got one of these to give as a present, and in the process of setting it up (got to be working when opened on christmas day!). They aren't the world's most attractive laptops to put it mildly, but it's a great price. In particular, the screen is terrific, and the fingerprint reader is quite practical once you get used to it. Similarly, bluetooth is nice to have - I use it often for quick file transfer to other laptops, and also for bluetooth stereo headphones.

The laptop comes loaded with a fair dose of software ****, but not as bad as a Dell, and it's all easily uninstallable.

Microwarehouse has this for a little lower at 412.29 as they are 5% back on quidco, and the cash back offer decent computer though:santa:

If you buy this direct from HP you have the option of a 3 year warranty for about £38...which is worth thinking about with a laptop!

I got mine delivered a couple of days ago and have to say it is better than the 6720S models that were also going around the same price. This one has a faster processor(2.0Ghz compared to 1.6Ghz) more memory(2Gb compared to 1GB) better speakers, the speakers on 6720S were pretty poor and a high resolution screen. The 6720s was a slightly smaller and lighter model and looked better but this one feels better to use.

Ebuyer and HP are still selling the Vista model with the £100 cashback, till the end of January.

I bought one and am generally impressed by it. However, the fan is really quite loud and cuts in frequently. I can even hear it when using BIOS. Has anyone else got one of these machines and is similarly getting prominent fan noise? I want to get an exchange but only if this isn't a generic problem with the model.
