Detailed Specs http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12688_div/12688_div.HTML

Great little laptop for student or basic use. Obviously not so good if you are a serious hardcore gamer but for the average joe to get on the internet and perform standard computing (word processing, spreadsheets, pictures, e-mai letc) this is fine. Better spec, albeit about £40 dearer, than this one http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/227063/hp-6715s-laptop-amd-3800-1gb-dvdrw-/

Is this better then a compaq n800c?

hmm, cheap but the specs are poor, If it was me I would shop around abit more.

Good enough prossessor, but 1 GB of ram, 120gb hard drive and rubbish intergrated graphics. Im not sure its work the hassel, its 3.5kg to. And im sure most of the 120gb would be used by all the rubbish HP load up there computers with.

Would only be usefull if you were planning to only use it for low level interenet and word processing. Im guessing it would come with no software to. Tho you could always just load open office i guess.

Deary me, a few assumptions there eh?

Didn't you read the end of the post and what exactly is "low level internet"? Also, I presume you understand that notebooks sub £350, no matter who makes them, don't include anything but integrated graphics so not sure what you mean by "rubbish graphics".

By all means shop around and post something else that's available and better. That's the whole point of the site

Yes, n800c went end of life April 2004 :) and was technology based on 400mhz Pentium M series.

I think I am entitled to my opinion. And i'm certain that expressing an opinion on a deal is what this comment area is about? And surely pointing out that rubbish graphics was only one small point I made. But I feel it is fair. I’m sure you realise that running that graphics card with that much ram and that Processor is not a good combination and you can do a lot better for that much money.

Hey, it's cool. I'm not being critical of your opinion at all. You are entitled to shop around. The point I'm making is is that all OEM assemblers of base ODM builds like this will use variants of the ATI or Intel onboard graphics so that's whay I pointed out it's limitations in the original post. So i must disagree with you that, based on a basic user, this spec would not be adequate

If you want better then of course spend more but then that doesn't make this spec for this price poor surely

I am going to have to back down on this one. I agree with what you saying to a degree. This laptop would suffice for most basic users. and it is a good price. I just dont want people to be think they are getting something there not. spend ~£100 pound more and in the long run i think they will be better off I understand alot of people dont have that money. But laptops are more then a short term investment for most students.
