bought this laptop from ebuyer a few months ago...it certainly comes up to expectations...a great buy

Quite nice deal - no ATi graphics to fail, decent hardware and it might even play some games at low settings (HD3200 is nothing special but better than most laptop gfx at this price-level).

Lack of BluRay might bother some people - there are refurbs at currys around this pricerange which have that (and slightly better hardware in some cases) but this is a great price for a 'new' laptop.

I keep coming back to this laptop though, still seems like a good deal.

Had a go on an HP TX2-1010ea with a very similar spec (same GFX card + 4GB RAM + Turion) and it played Portal on med-high settings with 2xAA...

so what is this processor like? AMD Turion X2 Dual Core RM-72 2.1Ghz

Most laptops are advertising the Core 2 duo's

how do they compare ..... I have read people on these forums just saying "they are rubbish" etc but with no reasoning behind it.

I am in the process of getting a new laptop but am getting 'bogged' down with all the different specs.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

They aren't as good as Core 2's, but tbh for most home users it'd be fine - only in gaming or heavy video editing / rendering will it be noticable...
#9
one of the major problems you will notice with the core2 duo to the amd chipsets is you will have more powersaving features and longer battery life on a core2 than amd
#10
screen failures are noticbly high on these models.Proceed with caution !

I bought one of these, can anyone else who has one answer a question for me?

The battery on mine is very slightly loose, it doesn't stay lock in place and when you place it on your lap you can hear and feel it move. Is this normal or is it just mine?

Not a major issue but it's bugging me!!

Had serious issues downgrading this model to XP Pro (even though I used the provided HP OS disc and drivers). Enventually got it to work with XP but was a hassle.

Like HP, dislike this model.
