I was in Staples in South Harrow today about to buy an A3 printer, when I spotted this multi-function device on sale. It's an A3 printer, a scanner, a photocopier and a fax, all in one device. It was on half price, at £149.88 - with a note saying that you can get £60 cash back from HP! I looked on Amazon via my iPhone, and it's £208.98 delivered...this is quite a lot cheaper :-)

I bought it, took it home, and have just filled out the cash back - it's easy to do online, you just need the serial number of the device you purchased, no need to cut out bar codes and post them off!

The printer prints well - I bought 500 sheets of A3 paper for £8.99 while I was there, and I am very impressed with it. Replacement cartridges for the printer are not expensive if you buy compatibles - for example, from http://www.cartridgepeople.com/Catalog/8105/officejet-7500a-e910a.html you can get 3 black, 2 cyan, 2 magenta and 2 yellow XL (properly full!) cartridges for £44.92 delivered. That's a lot of A3 printing :-). I've bought from cartridgepeople before, their compatible inks are good.

Of course, if you don't have a Staples nearby, you can also buy this online - they do free delivery. If you do it online, please make sure to remove the extra insurance (anycare or some such) that they add automatically, so that you get this price.

To register for the cashback, go here:

http://h40059.www4.hp.com/savemoney/hp-officejet-pro.html

If you're after an A3 printer, I think this is a very hot deal indeed...

Apologies website didn't show that's before vat.

Looks like a good deal to me, you normally pay a lot more than this for A3. Heat added. Don't forget 7% Quidco as well, which would bring it down to under £80 after cashback - bargain!

Arrgghh!! I forgot I could have got it online with quidco. Good suggestion AndyKen!

Folks - if you're voting cold (and some of you are, I can see it going down), please say why? :-)

Aha, probably right - made it more obvious in the title :-)

500 sheets of A3 paper, £8.99 from staples (cheaper on the internet)
100 sheets of A3 240g glossy photo paper, £24.49 from
http://www.photopaperdirect.com/products/A3-Glossy-Photo-Paper-Heavyweight-240g.html
Inks as in the original posting, two full sets and an extra black cartridge for under £45 the lot.

This is one of the cheapest A3 printers around to run. Damn I'm pleased with my purchase! :-)

Any good for photos? And how about for blocks of colour? Two different requirements of a printer, I'm interested to know if it's any good at either!

Can't fault it for the price. The compatible carts are still hefty though. No idea of the print quality, but you can get A3 brother printers for around 130-150 (150 has wifi) but the compatibles are around 80p each (a friend has one of the cheap A4 modules and says the prints are very good). If Staples still offer a 14 day return even after the item has been used, maybe worth checking them out if you print a lot just to see what the quality is like. The compats will help it pay for itself.
I bought (years ago) a Canon Pixma MP760 and I pay 56p per cart. The Canon prices are crazy and considering I go through around 3 sets per month, the initial higher cost (around £70 more than other brands), has been offset by the cheap compats.

Just reading the spec PDF from Staples - I don't think it has a duplex option, can anyone confirm? Also the cartridges it comes with are reduced ones.

Still very interested though!

Never needed one... BUT... that is mighty sexy.
I would also be interested to know the photo printing quality.
I have a Canon ip4300, and the piece of junk won't let me use refilled ink carts :(
Would this?

Not supposed to include the cashback in the total price as far as I am aware.

It's actually 141% bigger than A4. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Great deal though! Voted Hot!

Tempted but what is the quality like? And what does it print pixel size too?
#22
just buy a CISS on ebay and you're away...
#23
Used 2 CISS's on an old epson I used to have. Great when they work but once you get air inside the tubes........... Worked out cheaper refilling the old carts.

Anyone had any experience of both of these?

How does that work, when A3 is the same size as two A4 sheets side by side!?

He means the length and width are 41% bigger - but area ofcourse is twice as big. (1.41*1.41 = 2).

In printing terms though yes its twice as big, takes pretty much twice as much ink to print a full page. Yawwwnn

Silly Q perhaps but do I assume correctly that the scanner is A3 too.

THAT would be a nice touch.

really good find OP. A3 scanner too!

It looks like the A3 copy option on this is just a "stitch" of two A4 scans?

Yup.

Thats what I thought it might be.

pretty useless!!

Pretty informative review HERE and it comes out as pretty good and at this price outstanding if you have the room for it.

You can also scan to a memory card (but NOT USB)

Thanks for the share - the op find is good value but the borther one seems more tempting over a longer period. Dont really need one but...

this is a decent printer but do note that amazon were doing it a month or so back for £130 and also had the cashback offer so it worked out at £70 from them.

I got one from amazon - cash back took about 2 weeks.
#37
Great for someone about to start a Mech Eng (or similar) degree. Printing, at least, at my uni is a massive rip-off
#38
Such a bargain! I paid so much more for my Epson A3 printer :s
#39
Great price for an A3 printer but usual HP cautions apply re ink cost, etc.
#40
If you want a budget A3 printer, I'd recommend the Canon ix4000 over this for quality. You can get a cheap scanner if you need one.
