Was the printer that caused the big uproar at Play.com where they advertised at £55 but never honoured. This is the best price you can get it brand new from anywhere I believe (prove me wrong).

Fax
Automatic Feed
Scanner/Photo copier
Duplex (Double sided printing)
6 Colour Inks (Individual)
Photo Printing (Dedicated photo tray)
Wireless
2.5" Screen
Memory Card Slots...
Loads more, these are just off the top of my head.

Hurry though, offer runs out at the end of 2moro - Tuesday (13/1/09)
Price may be marked up as £121.80 or £122 but the staff have to type a code in at the till so print off from their website and show them.

I Paid £122 on tuesday for one, then the price dropped on thursday. But John Lewis will give you back the difference within a month of purchase. So went in today and got my £25 back then bought another for my girl's family and aunt went and bought one too. Cracking printer, cracking price.

Can you print directly onto CD?

Not with the C7280... nope. But you will find printers that can print directly on to CD will lack other features. I've noticed that you only ever get 3 out of 4 features that you want. The printing directly on to disc and scanning negatives are the only 2 things that this AIO lacks IMO. You won't find a printer that does both of them, C8180 does the negatives and there are a couple of other models that do the disc printing (but then they aren't wireless, don't have fax, duplex printing etc.). So you have to weigh up all the features.

Consider the Brother CW770 as posted last week - Ibought one at £ 79 - wireless and worked brilliantly with inks for under £15 for full set of 3 carts
#13
In stock on-line but no mention of wireless. Take it I cannot run a laptop with wi-fi?

Yes you can, it is wireless.
#15
i have this printer, i had it for a few months now, and it is one of the best printers i had,

its has wireless connection, 100mb lan connection, and usb.

i got it setup as a network scanner, and network fax machine.

what more do you want!

great printer

cold as its not laser, inkjets can neverproduce laser quality printing! and i refuse to buy inkjet as it can be smudged, a collegue posted a cv once, delivering in winter the postman delivered a damp envelope, the cv smudged, ink had ran - needless to say he didnt get the job (maybe it was due to this?)

im looking for an all-in-one but waitin till a decent laser within budget comes along
#17
This is a good spec printer.. have always liked HP. If it weren't for my existing PSC2210 printer I bought in 2002 still working, would go for this.

Invalid reason to vote cold.

Lasers won't print to the same high quality, notably for photos. They each have advantages and disadvantages but this really isn't comparing like for like. I use laser for all my everyday stuff and inkjet for photos.

Yes a laser would be better but like you said you have a budget, so you will be waiting for along time for something in this price range.

Anyways great price, I paid £125 a few months ago and its a great printer.
#20
How much are HP inks for this one and where/how much for copycats?

What a stupid comment, maybe learn what you are talking about before posting next time?

And the whole CV ink running in the post thing, you clearly made that up!

if you want a laser, try a mono one, samsung ones are good and cheap (their colour lasers arent so good tho) - start at about £50ish (i have an excellent hp7210 for colour). i have the excellent samsung n3051 which is networkable - paid about £50-60 18 months ago (bargain as STILL on the same original cart and print at least 500 pages a month!! - almost run out and hopefully will last 10000 pages on one cart, bought a new cart for £40)...

or if you want colour laser you could try the Dell laser colour printer for £80, tho this will prob be a rebadged lexmark(ugh!)
#23
great stuff.. heat added for this post..
#24
Hot, and ordered one this morning :)
#25
Even cheaper than one from Costco posted recently
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/317094/hp-c7280-all-in-one-printer-109-23-/

I wouldn't be surprised if prices drop further. Voted hot though!

Can I fax wirelessly with this one or will it need to be connected to a 'normal' phone line? In which case the fax facility is not good as it means wires!
#27
Anyone got a link to the cheap inks?
#28
Anyone kno wwhat CD and DVD tatoos are? Do you print them first then stick them to the surface of the disc?
#29
And finally - how easy is it to set up to print wirelessly - I have an orange livebox - and does anyone know if all PCs in a house can print wirelessly to it? Thanks
#30
why vote cold, if you dont want one thats your problem

The ability to print onto CDs. Rather surprised that it doesn't.

Well you still need a mains lead - it doesn't run on batteries...
How would it fax wirelessly? By acting like a DECT portable phone? Never heard of such a thing though technically it might be possible. You can't fax over wi-fi because wi-fi routers are not aware of the analogue capabilities of a phone line.
#33
I meant can it be wirelessly transmitted to the router and then 'converted' to a 'faxable' format down the regular phone line. After all the wireless routers allow phones to be plugged in and used over the internet - it shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility - I just wondered if by default that was the case. It would limit where the printer was located in the house though if yet another phone line was required to be hooked up to it.

The usaual price as stated on site is £121.80
The RRP in title of £259.99 is a fantisy !!
IT has been reduced by £25 no more !
#35
Exactly. RRP should be banned on here - we're supposed to be avoiding corporate greed, not falling for it.
#36
£116 @ Amazon
£122 @ PC World

Getting Blown up on this thread as some Great Reduction that it's NOT !!

Laser fanboy!

Harsh - but true?

I have a great little Samsung colour laser which was just £99 at PCW last year (but now up to about £130). A set of replacement toners is about £130 though (cheap prints but big investment up front). As usual the toners supplied with the printer are not full!
#38
Is that true that Laser prints just simply don't run when wet? Is it a sot of waterproof toner that is used?

The toner is essentially bits of plastic which are melted into the paper (with heat), so yes, it won't run if wet.

The reviews are not so good, and its expensive for an inkjet solution....voted cold:santa:

http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/167016/hp-photosmart-c7280.html

It's not going to challenge the Canon Pixma MP610's dominance, mainly because it costs nearly twice as much and can't match it in terms of its overall performance. But the C7280's built-in wireless capability does add appeal to a decent, if unspectacular device.
