Original HP supplies

Ink is much more than just coloured water; the unique, hi-tech formula for HP ink is designed to work with all the mechanical parts of the print cartridge, and the printer itself, to deliver high quality results across a wide range of papers, in a variety of environmental conditions.
Why Original HP Inks?
The print cartridge itself is the product of years of research and development and is much more than just an ink tank. The integrated print head on an HP cartridge includes an intelligent circuit that controls the hundreds of nozzles, each finer than a human hair, which deliver the ink onto the page. Each drop of ink is fired onto the page on the back of a tiny vapour blast of heat 7 times the intensity of the sun that lasts for just two millionths of a second; this energy blast exposes the ink drop to forces up to one million G's. Some of the latest Original HP ink cartridges can deliver in excess of 29 million drops per second.

A whole 4p cheaper at Amazon but a good price if you're into cashback sites though.

Good price for the printer however the ink is a bit too expensive

Safer to buy from Amazon
#7
I agree the ink is so expensive. If mainly only print in B/W go for a laser printer
#8
Excellent printer at this price and excellent print quality.
#10
This is a must if you have an iPhone or iPad, as you can print directly to this printer!

It works really well, is super quick and really easy to set up too.
#11
need to factor in ink cost...
anyone know cheapest source?
#12
just buy another printer when the ink runs out :)
#13
Excellent price and a cashback opportunity.
Have the previous model, B209, which is Wireless but isn't AirPrint compatible!
Keeping my eyes peeled for a good price on the Premium model as I want double-sided printing...
#14
Is this better than the Epson SX515 that was posted earlier?

I think from the comments that the Epson has cheaper ink available, but which printer would be better?

Hot! Awarded 4.5 out of 5 stars when reviewed at £99 on Pocket-Lint.com:

http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/5100/hp-photosmart-wireless-printer-review

Very tempted, but my 7 year old HP PSC 2110 still seems to be going strong at the moment....

PS. Quidco cashback is 0.5%, i.e. 19p, so nothing to get overly excited about, but very good deal, nevertheless.

PPS. Dorito: there's probably not much in it between this and the Epson SX515, but the Epson is over £50 delivered and is a much older machine, whereas the HP is £37.99 and is only a few months old, which is what would swing it for me!

I bought one from Amazon last week for a couple of pence cheaper, and it's an amazing printer at the price.

The ink's not that expensive to be honest. £26.10 at Amazon for the 3 colours and a black cartridge, so around £6.50 each. Or £13 for the high capacity black. No doubt they could be found cheaper elsewhere. I found that the prints were a good quality too.

I primarily bought it for my iphone as it support airprint. Making printing from iphones, ipads, and ipods a breeze without any extra apps. The wireless printing, and printing via an e-mail address works flawlessly too.

Personally, I'd recommend this printer to anyone, especially at the price.

Don't HP put a lot of tech into the ink cartridge making it a poor buy if you use lots of ink?

The Epson. HP ink prices are a real issue and that's where your expenditure really goes. HP Wi-Fi has setup issues too.

Typically the print heads in an HP printer are in the ink cartridge. Any problems, just replace the cartridge. The likes of Epson have the print heads in the printer and when they bust, might as well get a new printer.

I encountered no issues with setting up the Wi-Fi on this printer. Switched it on, found the wireless, entered the key, and jobs a good 'un.
#21
After about 3 cartridge sets in your Epson you will have saved enough to get another Epson if or when needed.
#22
I have the same dilema myself.

If you go to the comet website you can do a comparison between the stats for the HP and the epson. Epson comes out on top for pretty much everything but for some reason Im still leaning towards the HP :-)
#23
HP has color inks together, if one is out you have to get entire cartridge. Epson has all colors separate.
Not sure how HP drivers are, but Epson allows you to print monochrome directly from printing preferences.

You may find them cheaper than this but they're £5.39 each, inc VAT and delivery and ordered individually (i.e. not in packs of 3 colours) if you can get someone who still works for any part of HP to invite you to the Friends and Family programme.

Not true. At least in this model. Although the cartridges are usually sold in packs of 3 (but see my post above) they are separate cartridges.

Yep, that's why they're so expensive and no compatibles (just refills) - you put a new head in every time you change the cartridge. Bit like replacing the engine every time you fill your car!
#35
Mine is great, set up easy (though long process) and wireless printing from Iphone great feature. Print quality also very good.
#36
id be really grateful if an owner of one of these printers could answer my question, what are the drivers like for this printer? does it force you to install hp photosmart bloatware on every computer connected to it? do ink level things pop up every time you print? are windows drivers sufficient for wireless scanning and printing or are hp's needed directly? my only qualm before buying is I dont want every single computer with a load of hp software having to be loaded onto it, if they are just drivers that do their job and are unnoticable its a buy for me! :)
(oh and how fast is printing a single page comparatively to other printers, and how loud is it? Thankyou!)

Good printers put as found in past the inks are more expensive than the printer..I can get 4 sets of ink for my Brother wireless printer for less than a tenner!!! (not originals!!
#39
And how much was your brother wireless printer? More than the £35 for this all-in-one I bet.

Why are people complaining about the ink, surely £6-£7 for a colour isn't exactly expensive? Even if they were a couple of quid more, it's still a good price for a wireless all in one.

Im not saying the Brother printer is any better, but i dont print photos off so dont mind if the print offs are not David Bailey standard.. I like the fact you can buy the four inks to put in it and they are around £2 a set and it doesnt tell you they are not originals or that it shows how much ink you have left!! Oh and the printer was £69
