Worth mentioning that has a 1680*1050 screen too, with a fingerprint reader and bluetooth. If only it was C2D....

How is HP Compaq 6715b compared to this one

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deal/57214/fujitsu-siemens-esprimo-mobile-v550

I am getting confused which is better Inter Core2Duo or Turion 64 X2 TL-60

I am basically after a laptop within range of 400-450

should have

Good processor
2 GB RAM
160 GB or more
Super DVD+/-RW with lightscribe
Bluetooth, Wireless
Modem, USB, Firewire, SVideo Out.

Plus I want to play games as well, not high end graphic but games like MS AoE :)
Help!

Core2Duo is the better of the two but the screen is much higher resolutuion on the 6715b. I think that is the better deal - its the one I bought.

Which one you bought, Fujitsu or HP 6715b

The 6715b

I see you can get the 6715b with either XP or Vista....I've read that Vista is very resources hungry so I think I would favour the XP machine.....any thoughts?
#13
after 1st jan 08 I do not think you will have a choice, Vista will be the only option when buying a system with a m$ OS on it. if M$ can get away with it

The 6715b

How is the performance of AMD Turion™ 64 X2 compared to Core2Duo 7300 Santa Rosa.

What about graphics and playing games on both of them?

The intel chips are faster and use a more modern process in the manufacturing but the AMD ones are cheap. Both have more than enough power for average users - I only need one this powerful because I write .NET programs for a living. Laptops had enough power to fly through office, internet and emails for a few years now.

As for gaming you need to spend more, the integrated graphics on either of these machines isn't up to modern 3D gaming. For that you want a laptop with an Nvidia 8600GT.

thanks for your response Layzee, I don't want to play high end graphics what i am looking for is if it can play games like age of empires, strategy games, 2nd life

I've had this HP 6720s 2.GHz version for nearly 3 weeks now and I'm really happy with my purchase, fast processor, widescreen, easy to carry-light, battery life is good (but not upto 4.5 hours as it says in the description) and overall a sleek, good looking laptop. I'm also quite happy with windows vista and can't understand all the malarchy about it being worse than xp. I like the fact that I can put the laptop on sleep or hibernate if i wanna use it after an hour and not having to switch it off, also the gadgets are great, keeping me updated with underground trains and stuff like that. In a nutshell, a very happy customer.
