I would say get the U100 Plus posted from Maplin. Cheaper and better spec.

Theres one for £185 from Tesco, which seems similar to this one. Might be worth checking that out too.

Enlighten me as to what the N270 processor wont do that the average user would want to do on a netbook? Battery life a matter personal requirements.

That all said £199 is the current general price point for an N270 so comes down to your feeling on the manufacturer.

Great machine - terrific keyboard and screen - knocks spots off previous Acer.
I got the Compaq version (3 cell, XP) on the CPW deal a few weeks back for £179. This is worth it if 6 cell, otherwise it's just the going rate now but still an excellent little machine.

Don't forget, if you do get the 6 cell it's heavier and bulkier - may not meet your needs for a 'pure' netbook. 3 cell battery life is about 2-2.5hrs which will suit many user's needs.

I understand what you are saying... but why but old technology when you can get newer technology at the same price... generally speaking the idea of a netbook is to have something small light and smart on the go... so surely battery life is pretty important on these things??? :whistling:
