Yeah, I concur - hot for the price :)

Ive no idea anymore whats a good price for a laptop - seem to be soo many around ther £400 price mark currently. Would this still be considered half decent and capable in a few years time? Or creaking at the knees?

Wow thats a good price. I bought the Acer Timeline laptop advertised on here yesterday. Kinda wishing I waited a day.
#11
Why is the resolution only 1366 x 768? I have a 13.3" laptop with 1366 x 768 resolution and I can't do hardly anything on it.

I'm trying to find a 15" laptop with a higher resolution and 7200rpm hard drive. Neigh on impossible.
#12
'tis good but I bought this one the other day which was on here.

1gb less ram and smaller hard drive, but has larger screen and bluetooth
#13
This £150 trade-in was posted on an HP Laptop deal yesterday. Should apply here too.

Not a bad price and I voted hot, but I didn't have an orgasm over it
#15
I think better deal is http://h40059.www4.hp.com/uk/homelaptops/product.php?id=XE054EA&experience=direct&jumpid=reg_R1002_UKEN
with code 10% off and 10% off quidco is cheaper than this with dedicated graphics.
Anyway there is also 5%off code - "pcw5" and 3% quidco. But still hot.

I bought this on Saturday didn't use the code as I was in store :( it's the cheapest i3 4gb 500gb hard drive, if was £549, i3 is faster than dual cores by 35% so can run numerous programmes same time with ease.....

Doesn't apply here, you've got to be buying a laptop that's in their list of "qualifying products", all of which are much more expensive than this one.

Not strickly true. Some core2duos can beat the i3. 'Dual Core' is quite a sweeping generalisation!

Intel Core i3 350M @ 2.27GHz has a passmark of 2059
Intel Core2 Duo T9800 @ 2.93GHz has a passmark of 2191

But in general the i3 is more than the average user would need in a laptop :)
#19
good price, is this the old model, the Altec Lansing used to be great but quite poor on recent models and notice an advert for new speakers by a different name on HP laptops on the TV yesterday

What's the difference between i3, i5 and i7?

http://tinyurl.com/34jv9fl;)

i3 basically the lower end of the range without the turbo technology making them suitable for laptops due to using less power. i5 is midrange then i7 top spec quad cores both with turbo technology.

What's the waranty on this like?

For example, this Tosh from Argos seems good (i3 380m, 15.6, 2GB DDR3 Ram, 320Gb HDD, Intel GMA HD integrated grafix, Win7 Premium, Dual Layer DVD) CPU Passmark: Intel Core i3 380M @ 2.53GHz = 2249, and comes with 2 year warranty (warranty probably worth at least £100) and McAfee subscription for £399.99

Link/Details: Argos Link

That's a crap comparison. the Core 2 Duo is over 500mhz faster so of course it is going to have a higher passmark.

I wasn't comparing them - he said they were faster than Dual Core processors...as i said a sweeping generalisation.

Does the trade in offer only apple to laptops bought direct from HP?
#28
The Trade in offer is only for specific laptops and does not apply for this, however Still a good price.
Saying that though if you do have a old laptop (which meets the specifications of Trade In), you may be better off going for one of the DV6 models
