:) Good Price. Ok Its not going to win any "Top Spec Awards" but stick in a "Good Graphic Card" and you have a Pc For the kids to play on.

Heat Added!.

these are very good pc's and screen's - bargain price too !

My daughter and I both have the older HP d530's which work great

Get one as a second pc for downloading !!

Doesn't deserve to be so cold. Alright it's not a beast, but it's more than adequate for entry level users, like my parents for example. You can't go wrong when it has a Win XP license too. Is there anything like this for cheaper? No, there isn't. Probably not on Ebay, either.

If I built them a machine from scratch including a monitor then you'd be looking at £150 more minimum.

You wouldn't struggle to find a machine of this spec for sale on eBay, "refurbished", for the same sort of money or cheaper. Comes back to the "caveat emptor" principle - I for one wouldn't like to risk storing my documents on a 5+ year-old hard drive. Also probably cold on the basis that Big Pockets sell decommissioned base-units or setups like this on a frequent basis, so not really a great deal in my books... (unlike those whinging about potentially fractionally-worse picture quality on a bargain £49.99 Blu-Ray player! )

fine for those who just want to use the internet, word processing and will play some older or low spec games fine

Believe it or not we still have these PC’s at work, although they are just about to be replaced. For very reliable – Against very slow struggles with any graphics even simple diagrams in Word documents. Be prepared for it to freeze up and having to wait every so often while it catches up with what you are doing.
Bargain if you are short of cash and need a pc, otherwise I would advise you spend a little more on something better.

Makes no difference whether your hard drive is 5+ years or 1- years, you need to have a backup. It's amazing how many people don't.

Agreed, although when I bought a backup drive, it konked out after 12 months (conveniently just a week after the guarantee ended). I was surprised seeing as I rarely used it.

Really now? Because I just had a quick look and you pay £70-80 for similar or the same spec (often with less ram) and they are WITHOUT a TFT Monitor. There's an IMB with similar spec (but 256mb memory) + 17" monitor for £105, however.

Item #150401406664? It's hardly the most popular model of PC ever invented, so when you constrain it down to such a small sample size. The USFF version looks nicer at #150402766653...

This is a **** deal. As always I will compare to eBay, where I've seen Dell GX620s up for sale by a large rerfurb company in bulk for £49.99 per unit plus delivery, with the same sort of spec as this HP. 15" TFT Monitors don't have a resale value above £25.

1 month warranty?

hmmm...

You can fit up to 4GB (4 x 1GB) ram and it takes standard SATA hard drives so upgrading or replacing is easy. You can also fit a faster P4 cpu (up to 3.8GHz) with a BIOS update and these are pretty cheap on eBay. The most likely issue is the power supply failing so be prepared to buy one off eBay - it is not too hard to fit.

- Simon.
