What's the ink like? Separate for black and colour or altogether and how much are the cartriges anyone know? Sometimes these printers are so cheap but the ink so expensive that its cheaper just to buy a new printer LOL!!

IMHO it would be better to buy the epsom sx215 for less than a tenner more. You will save the extra the first time you replace the ink.

It uses HP 300 cartridges. The 300XL (high capacity) are £18 for colour and £18 for black at Amazon.

The 300 XL Black does 600 pages and 300 XL colour does 450 so running costs aren't so bad.

just put one of these in to replace my epson sx100.Argos do them for £36.99 with an extra 2 inks, a box of paper and a usb lead.Having owned both ...i wouldnt go back to the epson.

i found i was forever doing a head clean on it, and even tho it might only have a p[roblem with the black , it would use a lot of ink to do it from all 4 inks..i have never known such an expensive printer to run.I had an r200 many moons ago and that was great.

That's not bad - I'm on Lexmark just but had it for yonks and the ink is really expensive - just bought a load of cheap ones in Tesco Home Plus which were reduced and wll keep me going for a bit but will have a look at this one more closely too as it seems good. cheers!

At my local store the shelf price was showing both 1/2 price, from £69.99 to £34.99 and at £29.99.

Online showing as £34.99 so has anyone actually got it at this price?

Cheers

I bought one of these printers at that price, £29.99, last February or March from Sainsburys in Edinburgh. Bought fo rmy daughters bedroom - I wasn't looking for a printer when I was shopping for groceries but when I saw the price it was too good to miss.

It has not been used a massive amount as all main printing is done on the HP V45 attached to the main house PC and networked round the house. The print quality is good for home use. Flatbed Scanning has a good interface to get differing results and quality of scans.

It has this great function where you put in 4 different smaller items onto the A4 size scanner glass plate and select scan to separate files. The scanner then scans the flatplate once and turns each item into a separate file. I have been using this function for scanning loads of old family photos to store the images on the PC. This lets me do this in a quarter of the time.

The HP software does seem to always want to be updating itself which is a bit of a pest when the upstairs PC is switched on. Happy to live with that though.

I would definately recommend this printer/scanner. Inks used are HP21 & HP22 (and optional HP58) - and yes it is cheaper to buy this printer at this price if you want new inks - they come in at about £29.99 fo rthe two if bought separately. But I do think the inks that come with new printers are not as fully loaded as new off the shelf inks. Saying that - we are still using the original inks from last March so that shows how little it has been used.

Definately HEAT added for this one.

I bought one in store for £29.99. Decent printer, works well with windows 7 and the scanning options/software is decent.
