The scanner software with these is awful. You have to preview scan every time you want to scan something. If you have loads of A4 to scan, it should allow you to just preview scan once to get the area set up, then scan the same area again and again as you change the paper in the scanner.

My old HP scanner allowed you to do that.

Good price.

I thought about getting this at Argos for £30 last week. Managed to get the HP C3180 for just under £37 so went with that.

Does anyone know if it comes with Ink?
#4
I would expect it comes with ink.
Thanks edi, I'm after a new printer.

Yes, it comes with HP21 and HP22 ink carts. The only problem is they hold just 5ml of ink (this is the standard capacity, so these aren't 'starter' carts). The carts cost approx £12 each to replace although you can get remanufactured ones with 4 times as much ink for the same price. The printer is actually very good IMO and a billy bargain at this price.

Does This Work On Vista?
#9
hi all
i have this printer bought it last year for £39
it comes with ink yes - also you can get reasonably cheap ink from some online places like ijt direct.
It is a very good all round printer that is easy to use and at this price is a bargain.
I find the scanning part excellent although maybe a little slow. but i dont scan that much so its ok.
i would recommend it.
yes it does work on vista.

where did you get the C3180 for £37?

Nice find! Be aware of the following though:
The cartridges can be found for just under a tenner online, but they only contain 5ml of ink. In practice, that means your no.21 cartridge (black) will give you around 150 pages for 5% yield covering (ie. the proportion of the sheet's surface that you will cover with ink for an average text), while the no.22 (3-colour) will only get you to 138 pages at 15% covering (average text & graphs, but keep in mind photo printing reaches about 100% of the surface).

In short: bargain for occasional users like me, but if you print regularly, think of this one as one of those "disposable" printers and consider replacing it instead of buying new cartridges when it runs out of ink.

Voted hot!

I just purchased the Argos deal recently on a similar printer but I'm concerned how quick the ink levels drop after a small number of prints.

It's worth buying this just for the ink and have the printer as spare. I might buy 3 and sell the other 2 printers on ebay with no ink for £20 each...
