I got this for my mum and its a fantastic printer, I posted this when it was this price from tesco and it got alot of heat. The only downside is the price of ink, but i'm near an inkstation anyway

can you use a CISS on this printer?

Doubtful. CISS are usually only available for photo/high volume colour printers, not ultra low budget do it alls.

I stand corrected, link.

This printer represents the absolute bottom of the all-in-one units. Only recommended for people wanting to print 20pages a month or less.

Good price but HP inks are not cheap.
If you do a lot of printing and copying, then you're better off with a Canon, Brother or Epson.
#6
Does this not have a lot of software problems? is this why they are selling it so cheap??

Cheers for looking into that...

If you are lucky you might still be able to pick up one of these for £40.00.

4 individual ink cartridges, sounds much better than the HP.

ive got the wireless version of this printer and its a nightmare (the wireless part of it that is) otherwise its fairly decent, you can get refills for the carts which saves you a fortune.

Word of warning;
The mp272 is most likely a two cartridge unit as is the mp270 on the canon website

You have to spend alot more to get a canon all in one that takes separate cartridges

Can definitely recommend the CISS kits and staying away from HP because of the cost of inks. Another thing to bear in mind is that the cartridge head system is prone to clogging and you'll waste a fair bit of the (expensive) ink in cleaning all the smears out if you're only an occasional user.
I'm personally waiting for the Epson Stylus SX515W to come down from approx 85 pounds, then a CISS kit is about £30, which seems like a lot more but evens out after only a few cartridge replacements.

These printer offers never seem to be on ones that will print on CDs

I got the F2280 (not sure what the difference is) a few months ago, and I've found it to be a good basic text/graphics printer / copier - not the quickest by any means, but for our limited use (we have a mono laser as well) it's fine.

I work for HP (not in printers!) so got it a bit cheaper, but more importantly the inks are cheap for me so that takes away one of the disincentives.

The big problem I had with this is I installed it on a Vista machine, and quite frankly it was a disaster. Lots of bloatware, and when I tried to fix a problem by following HP's instructions to uninstall/re-install, the uninstall didn't complete and left the installation in a bit of a mess. It might be OK on XP, but its Vista support seems to be an afterthought.

In the end I installed the basic driver on its own and run it through a print server - this means I can't use it as a scanner but that's not something I need very often.

Just for info, picked this up for the same price at Staples in store!

I got one of these a month or two back form staples for £10. Well the deal was buy a 5 ream box of paper for £10 (RRP £20) and get the printer for £10 so technically it was £20.

I've done quite a bit of printing with it, a number of A4 photos and some documents and I've still got 3/4 lights on the colour ink and full bars on the black ink.

Seems a good cheap printer to me. It's not the fastest in the world and the paper shoots back out of the front of the machine where the paper to be printed on is, but can't complain much for the price.

Staples also tried to flog me ink for alot of money, and a cable for £12, I went to tesco and got a cable for £3 and for £25 from macro I got a HP black XL ink cartridge that'll do 600 prints for £25, can't complain really. Though I don't know much about printers.

+1 Had an HP all in one and price of Ink was extortionate. Now have a Brother and just as good (probably better) but with very cheap ink.
