It's not bad, but I'm wary of HP now cos their **** breaks a lot! Also they charge a lot for repairs once it's out of warranty, and their helpline for the UK now costs 75p per minute!

Debatable :p

It says it has no TV out, but on the image above it appears to have a DVI socket. Require a separate wire for sound obviously.

I have a HP TX2 with that processor, and its fan is on most of the time - way too loud.
Not sure if other models suffer the same...

TV Out is S-Video. It doesn't have S-Video. VGA and HDMI though.

The artist edition is a belter of a machine. Bit girly on the design - done by some chinese girl, supposed to depict the sea.

It does come with some pretty cool extras - a free matching slipcase and mouse of the same design and full package software including: Magix Music Maker 14, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, Painter Sketch Pad and VideoStudio X2.

I work for microsoft and was in PC World Kirkcaldy just before Xmas. As this is a vista machine and they only had the display model they slashed the price to £375. Almost took it home myself at a steal but resisted as I have more than enough laptops. Let a customer have it and they left thinking Xmas came early. For them it did!

I had a similar problem on my laptop after installing Win 7.

It was permanently running in high performance and pushing the fans to high speeds. Solved the problem by setting up a custom 'balanced' power setting which I have limited to 50% processor power. I mainly use this setting for web browsing or watching videos as it stays nice and quiet

Presume you can do similar power management on Vista too?

Does it work well with Windows 7? Is it fast?

My laptop is over 3.5yrs old with a 1.6ghz Core Duo, 256mb ATI X1600 and 2gb RAM. I upgraded it from XP to Win 7 last year and it runs brilliantly. The only issue I've had was the issue which I solved above. Certainly wouldn't go back to XP for any reason.

HP couldn't sell there products cheap enough to convince me, I'll never touch them. Bought two Laptops Xmas before last, in less than a year, onhad the battey fail and the other had the power pack fail.

Fans is always on and loud. The laptop and power pack are so hot that I have actually scalded/ burned myself. I can't see how they are performing honest safety checks on there products.
