These "deals" are cons. They release these laptops 2 weeks before at hugely inflated prices, and then drop the price to still more than what it should be. Then all the mugs rush in and buy it!

They have been selling laptops with the same spec and price as this for the last 6 months. In many cases they have been better deals such as the Toshiba L450-128 (available in most stores, but not online). This Tosh had an eqiuvalent speed AMD processor, 4GB ram, 320 HD, and an ATI 3200 graphics card (which the HP does not have). All for £399.

They have also increased most of their other laptops by £30 to £50 to make this HP look like it's a good deal, when it is not. Cold.

About the going rate for this spec I think. Similar spec to the Asus I'm using at the moment which I paid the same price for a couple of months ago.

To be honest, I'd rather have this than the Toshiba mentioned by james4809, as the processor is definitely better from what I can see on www.notebookcheck.net The improved graphics is not such a big deal for me as I don't play games and the integrated ones are fine for most non-gaming applications.

Not voting either way as this is merely the going rate from what I can see. I suspect it may get some codl votes because of the inflated original price that PC World put on it!

agree with last post, decent spec but for this money it would need a blue ray player for me to take the plunge :whistling:

Just been looking at this laptop. With code and cashback it brings it down to £366. Anyone know of a better deal around for that money? Prefer Tosh but can't see any better(willing to pay a little more)
I looked at the one mentioned above but Benchmark tests don't come close.

The laptop will be used for web browsing, emails, social networking etc. nothing else.
