Intel are gradually replacing all their CPUs with these new "icore" CPUs.

There are 3 in the range - i3, i5 and i7.

i3 are the low end, and there are 2 laptop modes - the 330 and 350.

So this is the slowest model of the slowest "icore" CPU.

Howver it is still a decent CPU as long as you dont expect to be doing any "high powered" work on the laptop (games, video editing etc)

Note this CPU is still far faster than most CPUs from say 5 years ago.

anyone got the £100 trade in because in the terms and conditions it says that it needs the receipt of where you bought the laptop from.

this is proof of purchase of the HP laptop i.e HP G62-105SA, not of the laptop or dektop ypu are trading in

What???

This processor is better than most older mobile processors by far. In benchmarking the T6670 C2D scores in at 271 while the i3-330 comes in at 187 in the processor charts. It is a 4 thread processor.

The problem is it's up to 100quid. Probably for a bloody brand new one, knowing what all these conmerchant are like. You also haft to have your reciept as well. I'm gone look for mine. As my pc well old.
Bit broke, so I like to know how much I would get for it. As I dont think anythink less than 50quid would be worht getting rid of it. Considering how much i paid for it.
Is this a cheque/giro or is the 100quid in form of money off the HP shop(time limited)? As then this would not effectively be money off the total price!

Have you looked at the Trade In, I don't think you need a receipt just, working Laptop, Power Block, and recovery media. If you are missing any of these it tells you how much they will deduct from the trade in i.e no recovery software -£35.00.

Check this out;

The criteria is really good actually,

No mention of spec or ages...

Does your computer switch on & work?

Is it in good condition?
May show wear, but nothing damaged

Is it complete?
Laptops must have power supply, desktops must have power leads, keyboard, mouse and display

Do you have the factory restore disks or a backup?
The disks that allow us to restore the computer to it's original factory settings

Brilliant if you ask me

Some of keys have died on keyboard, and are missing a couple of letters. I use an external keyboard.
Lid catchment broke
The USB is broke.
Touchpad dead
Screen has become very dull.
Comes with power supply and battery(not sure on max capacity od charge held)
Have disks and manual. Thou you wouldnt be able todo a refactory reset, as the I accidently deleted restoration part.

Well ok... this laptop is a piece of **** clearly! and i am amazed you are still working on it... get a cheap netbook if it's hard to work on.

Seriously though £100 trade in for a working laptop of any spec is really good!

Ebay I get 2 quid for 256 * 2
p4.266 must get 5
So your Value isnt right. Thou thats probably what T&c's state. Where is it regarding cashback?

Can anybody tell me does the trade in have to be a HP model? or can it be any make of desktop/laptop or even unbranded?

You make this sound really slow - according to notebookcheck it outperforms a Quad core Q9000 and anything below a P8600 - another plus is that the GMA HD that comes with this performs better than any previous integrated graphics - it's still bottom end of the 'class 3' range but similar performance to the old Geforce 9400M etc.

P.S. OP thanks for (re)posting this great deal - but HUKD convention is to leave Quidco and possible trade-in values out of deal prices - so the price should be £426.55

Sorry I was just being cheeky  - According to the valuator knock off £25 if you can't meet the Q4 'factory restore' requirement and £35 if it shows damage - so at worst yours should fetch £40
Question 4. Do you have the factory restore disks or a backup?

Has the original disks to allow a complete factory restore (or duplicates) or has a CD or DVD disk backup of the original factory restore partition on the hard drive.

Has a licence for the operating system, eg. Microsoft Windows, typically this is a label stuck to the underside of the computer, called a "certificate of authenticity", on computers over 8 years old the licence will likely be on the CD's supplied with the computer. Note, a licence is not necessary for computers originally bought with a Linux operating system.
The "certificate of authenticity" might scupper some folks - it's long age rubbed off the bottom of my laptop.

That is what I said

>Note this CPU is still far faster than most CPUs from say 5 years ago.

I never said it was a bad CPU, only that it was at the low end if the icore range, which it is.

This is what you said:

"is still far faster than most CPUs from say 5 years ago" and "it is still a decent CPU as long as you dont expect to be doing any "high powered" work on the laptop (games, video editing etc)"

Those statements understate the i3's power which is the point jrw and I were trying to make.

Which is different to what i said - I said older processors as in anything pre 'i' phase. These blow most c2d's out the water lt alone P4's from 5 years ago. Saying that makes out that crappy celerons which PC World con people into buying are better than this. If you want a decent laptop or desktop then you can't get better than these new processors.
#22
You can trade it any old ****, and it dosent have to be a laptop could be an ancient desktop pc with a CRT monitor. All they care about is it needs to turn on and work and be complete with all cables and restore disks.

Any idea why - do you think it's the discount code?

If your not wedded to HP and are prepared to give pixmania a chance they have a similar spec Samsung (more ram bigger HDD) at £437.90 - but of course no trade-in and only 3% Quidco http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/690626/samsung-r530-i3-4gb-ram-437-90-at-p

You deserve some sort of compensation I guess :)

wasn't this posted only a week ago? Anyway I did the trade-in last year and posted details in the other thread
#29
So £426.55 if you are not trading in.

Am tempted... Is this just about the cheapest "i3" laptop out there at the moment?
#30
IMHO this should be listed here as £426 - the tradein isn't available to everyone (or may get a different value depending on exactly what parts you still have), and Quidco isn't guaranteed and so shouldn't be included in the price.

Not voting hot for that reason.

I have one of these, so:

Pro: fast as you like (faster that a t9600), 7200rpm hard drive, dvdr dl, 3GB, finger print free decent shell with macbook type styling, HDMI out.
Con: poor screen with bad reflections, keyboard is average, graphics good for hd but not games.

Excellent for this price though no doubt.
#33
The price advertised at the top right is very misleading, even though you do quote the real price in the title. It should be edited IMO - you aren't supposed to include POSSIBLE trade in and POSSIBLE cashback fro Quidco, neither are guaranteed. Maybe the first one should be included, but not Quidco.

I know its like saying you can have brand new Golf GTi for £2000, as long as you're trading in a 2008 Porsche Boxter S

Why has this been expired?

P.S. I just nipped down to Comet to have a play before buying - they were reorganising the laptop display but fortunately this was about the only one still powered on.
Everything seemed well built, the screen was crisp and sharp and the keyboard although 'strange' felt like I could get used to it - there were a couple of hot spots on the keyboard and underneath but not too warm - doubt it would cook you at full stretch ;-)
The Comet model didn't have an e-sata combo.

Very glad I checked it out as I really didn't like the textured design around the keyboard and was singularly unimpressed with how this and the laptop lid had scuffed up. My finger tips are still tingling from that strange texture - the weirdest things will put you off a purchase - I didn't like it; but maybe I'm using it as a excuse to go for an i5 and dedicated GPU ;-)
