Now the Dell 1564 is up to £429 and you have to wait for that, you can get this or a Toshiba Core i3 laptop for £449, trouncing many machines bang/buck (processing wise, the i3 is rated between the Core2 Duo T9600 and the 3Ghz Xeon L5240 - i.e., it's very fast). Both have basically the same bits but IMO the Tosh is a bit budget looking and slightly council. The G62 however takes the Macbook thievery of the Envy range and distils it to those less financially stupid than an Envy buyer! The case is gloss free bas-relief metallic for those sick of fingerprints everywhere and it's a very good package for the now cheaper price. The E series Sony is also very good for £50 more at eBuyer and other places so you have a choice. I went for this though and I'm pretty happy.

Don't forget 3% Quidco too.

This takes it to £435.53 (if my maths is ok)

I would buy an HP laptop again the battery life is pants and if there was an HP shop/HQ near I think I would do the same or do a Michael Moore, just need a camara crew in tow.
But the day after the warranty expires you can sing there don't want to know.
Not sure how Toshiba are with Customer Services. As the old maxsum goes Buyer beware.

Worth noting the 7200rpm hard drive, few other notebooks in this sector offer a high-speed disk.

this looks pretty good but the resolution is too low for my work stuff, shame you cant customise a higher res. panel...
