which store in glasgow please?

Nice price. Don't think my local one stocks laptops though.

"Battery Life Up to 9.5 hours" THINK that might be an error though. :D Standard fair's usually up to about 3 hours on these sort of machines.

Seems a bit pointless supplying the 64bit version of Windows 7 with this machine especially with only 2 Gbyes of ram
#10
Great deal, Thanks

x64 is quite a bit more resistant to some forms of malware (rootkits for example) and if someone in the future upgrades above ~3.5GB of RAM, it'll all be recognised. Both will cut the number of support calls that HP gets.

I'd more say that supplying a machine in this day and age with 32 bit windows is a bit short-sighted.

No Wi-Fi oO

2gb of ram will run fine, if you really need more buy and install it, its easy and cheap. Unlike Vista you won't get performance issues with 2gb.

Went to thte Flint store this morning - nothing reduced at all, checked at 7.58am, then 10 mins later - no price changes.

I disagree generally, but specifically the ram fills both slots so both will have to go for optimum performance and it'll only take 4GB total anyway

No deal in the store in Godalming.

Oh well, that saved me a trip

win 7 runs fine wih 2GB of ram, quite a few machines come with win 7 64bit and 2GB as standard.

This is NOT a high powerd performance machine, it will never need more than 4GB of ram.. Think for a secound which program or game for that matter uses 4GB or more ram..

GTA 4 - uses 4GB ram, crysis does too i think and maybe some new demanding games
Some app in the adobe CS4/5 stable use more than 4gb ram (only 64bit versions)

With that said who in their right mind will think this machine will run highend games
and why would someone using adobe cs4/5 programs use this machine anyway.
its not all about ram, i think the CPU plays a small part tooo, than the spped of the hard drive and other hard ware come in to play too.

So what i am trying to say is 3GB of ram is more than what is needed for this machine and considering the type of people who will use it.

I have quad core intel with 8GB ram and high end ati graphics and unless am creating massive images or editing 1080p videos nothing else uses more than 4GB ram, while surfing or listing to itunes or watching a blu-ray my ram useage is less than 2.5GB and cpu usage is under 10%

so for most people the 2GB is fine, if you need more buy a 2GB stick take a 1GB stick replace it with 2GB and you have 3GB which is what x86 systems support anyway

Ditto. I brought the i3 chipset version from Currys over the weekend. It was about £50 more (using the voucher code) than this verson but with WIFI, 2GB, 250GB. Smaller HDD but quicker processor.

You can't post ebay, as you could be self promoting which isn't allowed here. I assume that's the reason you can't post it, otherwise everyone would be advertising their ebay items in threads here.

Went hunting for one of these today.
Found stock in 2 stores, but both scanned at £379.99.
Good luck if you can find them cheaper.

Don't doubt you m8.
All stores here in sunny tyneside seem to be charging £379.99.
I guess the price change hasn't filtered through to here yet.
I'll keep checking, just in case (_;)

If you could tell me the item code or something, that might help.

Thanks.8)
