damn missed the sony clearance again!

The supposed delivery charge is not actually a delivery charge but what Staples call a "Order Care" charge.

IF you click on this charge and read the info you may find that you do not need to pay the £2.96, read it carefully though.

Eww HP.

This appears to be pretty much the same spec as the g62 107sa which is £349.99 in PCWorld/Currys plus Quidco etc making it even cheaper. There is also a £50 trade in, so I got one for £299 at the weekend and ended up taking it back as didn't like the keyboard/touchpad/screen.
#16
seems a good price considering this includes mcafee and a laptop case

not many good deals on dell outlet lately. i think the best deals was the studio 1747s when they were selling them for about £650 for a certified refurbished while a new one still sold for over £1300.

sony outlet sold out a few days back. I missed that deal too :(

I'll buy an i3 when they are sub-£250. No rush.
I want an i7 3.0ghz in my desktop first, anf the price of those need to more than halve before I buy there too. Again, no rush. Ive got a holiday in Orlando next October to pay for first !

Yes, you probably have to pay extra if you don't take the [email protected] off their hands. I wonder whether the lappy is pre-infected with it, or do you just get the disc you can throw away.

If it's like the recent currys model, the screen, keyboard and pad are very poor, I guess that's why it's discounted.

this Dell Core i3 is also still on offer at the carphone warehouse and has free security software:

so i dont understand the point of the i3. i3's seem pretty tame without turbo boost, and benchmark in the same region and have similar power consumption as the modern C2Ds.

i don't have any links to make a proper case, but i'd think you could get a cheaper laptop with C2D. if you need extra power, go for an i7 620LM, which has better benchmark and lower power consumption. imo i3's are just a gimick from intel to make you upgrade your 'ancient' C2D at a reasonable price, so that you think that because you're not going for i5/7 you're not getting ripped off. i would seriously love to know the benefits of the i3.

Wouldn't touch HP. Have had a very bad experience with my son's HP laptop. Personally have a Dell Vostro and haven't had a moments trouble with it in three years of daily use.
#25
all laptops are prone to failure... even apples!
HP Toshiba and Dell all make decent machines.

this model is excellent for the price

Read the above thread about the horrendous mouse and buttons on these laptops. I took mine back.
